  • Purpose - This paper discusses an impact of status on organization's temporary employment. Status not only offers various opportunities for organization but also places constrains on organization. In this perspective, we propose that organization's temporary employment will differ depending on the status. Design/methodology/approach - We predict that organization's evaluated status has a U-shaped relationship with temporary employment because organizational social insecurity varies by the status. Moreover, we predict that organization's categorical status has a positive effect on temporary employment since organizational legitimacy varies with the status and that the effect will be enhanced by an organizational niche. To verify these predictions, we examined a regression analysis using panel data of temporary employment in Korean universities. Findings - The results of regression analysis show that there is a U-shaped relationship between universities' evaluated status and temporary employment. This implies that the middle status university is likely to minimize temporary employment because of conformity pressures. In addition, the results show that university's categorical status has a positive effect on temporary employment and the effect is enhanced by university's market concentration. This suggests that the categorical status has a strong impact on specialist university. Research implications or Originality - This paper contributes the development of temporary employment theory by applying duality of organizational status and identifies the organizational determinants of temporary employment in Korean universities.

The selection of the case study firms was chosen by considering various factors such as the viability of the firm, location of a company and the types of organization. The research result shows that most of local social enterprises had a viability and profitability to effectively utilize local resources. But it is claimed that the government policy for promoting local social enterprises reveals some limitations to promoting effectively local social enterprises. First, it is necessary to limit the qualification of applying to the government support program. Second, financial support should be changed from hardware-centered programs to software-centered programs such as training and education for human resource development and the business consulting. Finally, it is necessary for the government policy to focus on follow-up programs for firms which are no more capable of receiving the government financial support. For these firms, the government policy needs to focus on facilitating activities of cooperation between local universities and local social enterprise.

Nevertheless, diverse social and environmental issues have emerged due to the susceptibility to fire and the generation of substances detrimental to human health during the construction process of FRP fishing vessels. • Recently, with the advent of knowledge-based economy and techno-economic paradigm social demands for technology valuation have increased. In nature, however, technology valuation is an intractable task since technology is characterized by intangible and tacit factors and is traded in a suppliers market. Consequently, it is quite common that each individual or organization has ie own valuation method or criterion. The main objective of this research is to propose a new technology valuation method which is easy to understand and apply. In addition, the method is designed to generate monetary value, rather than score or rank, of technology. To this end. we have proposed the overall framework and detailed procedure of a new valuation method. In doing that, we have emphasized the following factors. First, the new method. vis-a-vis existing methods, is applicable to high-tech areas, rather than traditional manufacturing sectors. Second. the proposed method analyzes the structural relationship between market value(value of market) and technology value(value of technology) and integrates them into valuation process. Third, the new method takes idiosyncratic characteristics of various industrial(technical) sectors into account.
