A Study on Battery Performance of a Motor Driven Local Transportation Vehicle (모터구동 근거리 이동수단의 배터리성능에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to measure battery's voltage drop in a compact electric vehicle to get driving performance in various driving situations. In the experiment, to evaluate the energy consumption and milage, system performance have measured with changing of the driving speed and the reduction of driving distance when the heater was operating. The battery of the car in this study is lead type storage battery. The driving velocity was changed from 10km/h to 50 km/h with 20km/h intervals and the operating step of the heating device. As results, the electronic consumption rate was maximum at 35 km/h of vehicle speed and if the driver turning the heater at maximum, capacity will lead to 35% of energy consumption increment.

  • 세계경제는 올 2분기 이후 완만한 회복세를 보이고 있다. 선진국 국가부채 문제가 점차 조정되고 있기 때문에 미국, 유로존 등 선진국이 주도하는 세계경기 상승흐름은 내년까지 이어질 전망이다. 다만 세계경기가 회복되는 속도는 빠르지 않을 것으로 예상된다. 미국 양적완화 축소로 국제금리가 오르고 신흥국 및 기업의 자금조달 여건이 악화될 전망이다. 신흥국 자금유출은 내년에도 이어지면서 금융시장 불안요인이 될 것이다. 중국도 투자조정이 지속되면서 전반적으로 개도국 경제의 활력이 과거 경기 회복기만큼 높지 못할 전망이다. 세계경제 성장률은 올해 3.1%에서 내년 3.4%.로 완만한 상승이 예상된다. 세계경제가 회복되면서 국내경기도 상승흐름을 보일 전망이다. 하반기중 정부수요는 줄어들 것이지만 민간부문의 활력이 높아지면서 올해 연간 2.8% 수준의 성장세를 기록할 것으로 전망된다. 수출이 주도하는 경기회복세는 내년까지 이어질 것으로 보인다. 수출증가로 미루어두었던 설비투자가 재개되고 가계소비도 올해보다 증가율이 높아질 전망이다. 다만 국내경기 역시 회복 속도는 빠르지 않을 것이다 선진국 적자 축소 노력으로 자국생산이 강조되면서 세계교역 증가세가 과거만큼 높지 못할 것이다. 금리상승에 따른 가계부채 부담 증가 고령층 소비성향 저하는 소비회복을 제약하는 요인이다. 올해 큰 폭으로 반등했던 건설투자도 정부의 주택공급 축소방안, SOC 예산 삭감 등으로 내년에는 다시 둔화될 전망이다. 내년 국내경제 성장률은 3.6%. 수준에 그칠 것으로 예상된다. 수요확대에 따른 인플레 압력이 커지겠지만 국제원자재 가격이 안정되면서 소비지물가는 2%대 중반 수준을 기록할 전망이다. 고용사정도 올해보다 완만하게 개선되는데 그칠 것으로 보인다. 금리는 지속적인 상승세를 보이면서 기업 자금조달 여건을 어렵게 할 것이다. 경상수지 흑자는 올해 650억달러 수준으로 사상최고치를 기록한 후 내년에도 400억달러를 넘어설 전망이다. 이에 따라 미국 양적완화 축소에도 불구하고 원화는 절상기조를 지속해 내년 원화환율은 평균 달러당 1,060원 수준을 기록할 것으로 예상된다. 다음은 LG경제연구원에서 발표한 "2014년 국내외 경제전망"의 주요 내용을 정리한 것이다.

Evaluation of Asphalt Emulsions Curing and Adhesive Behavior used in Asphalt Pavement Preservation (Surface Treatments) (아스팔트 도로포장 유지보수(표면처리)용 유화아스팔트의 양생 및 점착거동특성 평가)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate the curing and adhesive behavior of asphalt emulsions including polymer-modified emulsions for chip seals and fog seals. METHODS : For the laboratory testing, the evaporation test, the bitumen bond strength (BBS) test, and the Vialit test are used. Also, the rolling ball test and the damping test are employed to evaluate the curing properties of the fog seal emulsions. In order to conduct all the tests in controled condition, all test procedures are performed in the environmental chamber. The CRS-2L and the SBS CRS-2P emulsions are used as a polymer-modified emulsion, and then unmodified emulsion, the CRS-2, is compared for the evaluation of chip seal performance. For the fog seal performance evaluation, two types of polymer-modified emulsions (FPME-1 and FPME-2) and one of unmodified emulsion, the CSS-1H, are employed. All the tests are performed at different curing times and temperatures. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS : Overall, PMEs show better curing and adhesive behavior than non-PMEs regardless of treatments types. Especially, the curing and adhesive behavior of PMEs is much better than non-PMEs before 120 minutes of curing time. Since all the test results indicate that after 120 minutes of curing time the curing adhesive behavior of emulsions, the early curing time, i.e., 120 minutes, plays an important role in the performance of chip seals and fog seals.

Bacteriocin ("Vulnificin") Typing of Vibrio vulnificus

  • Vibrio vulnificus, a halophilic vibrio is an estuarine gram-negative bacteria that is associated with severe and frequently fatal wound infections and life-threatening septicemia. Bacteriocins are defined as antibacterial substance produced by various species of bacteria which are usually active against closely related organisms. Bacteriocins have found widespread application in epidemiological studies as specific markers of bacteria. It was proposed by Ha et al. (1990. J. Korean. Soc. Microbiol. 25: 586.) to give the bacteriocins produced by V. vulnificus the name "vulnificins". In the present study, a total of 72 strains of V. vulnificus isolated from patients and oysters were subjected to screen potential producers and indicators of vulnificin, applying ultraviolet induction method. Sensitivity of several strains of Serratia marcesans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Shigella flexneri, Salmonella typhi and Yersinia enterocolitica to vulnificins were also examined out. All the tested strains of V. vulnificus produced vulnificins active against indicator strains with various different inhibitory patterns. The spectrum of vulnificin activity and sensitive spectrum of indicator strains were considerably broad. Interestingly, almost all strains of S. marcescens, P. aeruginosa, Salmonella sp., Shigella sp. and Y. enterocolitica tested were sensitive to 1-7 vulnificin(s). Taken together, the present study demonstrated that all of the isolates of V. vulnificus produced vulnificins and that 8 good vulnificin producers and 10 good indicators were detected. These strains can be employed efficiently for establishing vulnificin typing scheme of V. vulnificus and for the detection of bacteriocinogeny and sensitivity in V. vulnificus. Biological role of vulnificin remains to be further elucidated.

  • Purpose: This study attempted to see the trend of researches in nursing old people. Method: We analyzed a total of 105 articles that were published in The Journal of Korean Community Nursing, J. Korean Community Health Nursing Academic Society. The J. of Korea Acad. Soc. of Home Care Nursing from 1987 to June 2003. Result: 1. It was found that researches on old people nursing had increased every year since 1995 and most largely in 1995$\sim$1999. 2. It was known that the majority of researches were designed to be non-experimental and their subjects were old people over 65 living at home. 3. Nursing interventions used in experimental studies were music therapy and various health promotion programs. 4. Major research concepts are physical activities, mental health, physical health, medical management, social health, quality of life and family health. Conclusion: The number of studies has increased in community nursing journals, but there have been not many studies about polices and management for old people living in community society and suggestions of practical alternatives. Thus it is necessary to carry out more community nursing studies about management and education for old people.

  • Lithium polymer batteries are used in energy storage systems (ESS), electric vehicles (EVs), etc. due to their high safety, fast charging and long lifecycle, and now they are used in agricultural drones. However, when overcharging and overdischarging, the lithium-polymer battery is destroyed in the gap structure in the lithium-ion battery and the battery life is reduced. In order to prevent overcharge and overdischarge, uneven cell voltage Cell balancing system is needed. In this paper, a fuzzy controller suitable for nonlinear systems is proposed by detecting the unbalanced cells by detecting the voltage difference between charging and discharging of each cell, and suggesting the applied cell balancing algorithm. In this paper, we have designed the cell balancing of the battery pack of agricultural drones by fuzzy control and it is designed for equal control between cells. As a final result, we checked whether cell balancing is good, and when there are two cells, Cell balancing was confirmed. We tested whether it could be used for other products. As a result, we confirmed that cell balancing is good regardless of the number of cells used.

Design of Supplementary Cementitious Materials and Unit Content of Binder for Reducing CO2 Emission of Concrete (콘크리트 CO2 저감을 고려한 혼화재 및 단위 결합재 양의 설계)

  • The present study assessed the $CO_2$ emissions of concrete according to the type and replacement ratio of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) and concrete compressive strength using a comprehensive database including 2464 cement concrete specimens and 776 cement concrete mixes with different SCMs. The system studied in $CO_2$ assessment of concrete based on Korean lifecycle inventory was from cradle to pre-construction, which includes consistent materials, transportation and production phases. As the performance efficiency indicators, binder and $CO_2$ intensities were analyzed, and simple equations to evaluate the amount of $CO_2$ emission of concrete were then formulated as a function of concrete compressive strength and the replacement ratio of each SCM. Hence, the proposed equations are expected to be practical and useful as a guideline to determine the type and replacement ratio of SCM and unit content of binder in concrete mix design that can satisfy the target compressive strength and $CO_2$ reduction percentage relative to cement concrete.

Full CMOS PLC SoC ASIC with Integrated AFE (Analog Frond-End 내장형 전력선 통신용 CMOS SoC ASIC)

  • This paper presents the single supply power line communication(PLC) SoC ASIC with built-in analog frond-end circuit. To achieve the low power consumption along with low chip cost, this PLC SoC ASIC employs fully CMOS analog front-end(AFE) and several built-in Regulators(LDOs) powering for Core logic, ADC, DAC and IP Pad driver. The AFE includes RX of pre-amplifier, Programmable gain amplifier and 10 bit ADC and TX of 10bit Digital Analog Converter and Line driver. This PLC Soc was implemented with 0.18um 1 Poly 5 Metal CMOS process. The single power supply of 3.3V is required for the internal LDOs. The total power consumption is below 30mA at standby and 300mA at active which meets the eco-design requirement. The chips size is $3.686\;{\times}\;2.633\;mm^2$.

  • This paper presents the design of the battery sensor IC for instrumentation of current, voltage using delta-sigma ADC. The proposed circuit consists of programmable gain instrumentation amplifier (PGIA) and second-order discrete-time delta-sigma modulator with 1-bit quantization were fabricated by a 0.25 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. Design circuit show that the modulator achieves 82 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) over a 2 kHz signal bandwidth with an oversampling ratio (OSR) of 256 and differential nonlinearity (DNL) of ${\pm}$ 0.3 LSB, integral nonlinearity (INL) of ${\pm}$ 0.5 LSB. Power consumption is 4.5 mW.

Properties of Soils under Different Land Uses in Chittagong Region, Bangladesh

  • In this study, we investigated the effects of three land uses on soil properties in two soil layers; surface soil (0~15 cm) and subsoil (15~30 cm). Soil samples were collected from planted forest, barren lands and cultivated lands from different areas in Chittagong Cox's Bazar and analyzed for some physical and chemical properties. Results showed that soil textural class varied from sandy clay loam in planted forest and barren land site to sandy loam in cultivated soils. Maximum water holding capacity was higher in forest followed by barren land and the lowest in cultivated lands. At both soil depths, soils of cultivated land showed the highest values of bulk density (1.42 to $1.50g\;cm^{-3}$), followed by barren lands (1.37 to $1.46g\;cm^{-3}$) and the least (1.32 to $1.45g\;cm^{-3}$) in forest soils. Total porosity decreased with depth ranging from 40.24% to 41.53% in subsoils and from 42.04 to 43.23% in surface soil of cultivated and of planted forest sites respectively. The result further revealed that organic carbon (OC) and total nitrogen (TN) contents were higher in the planted forest soil than in other two land uses. The soils of all land uses under study are acidic in nature and the lowest pH was found in both surface and subsoils of barren land. Cultivated soil contained the highest amount of available P, Ca, Mg and K in both surface soil and subsoils. In contrast, barren site had the lowest contents of available P, Ca, Mg and K in both layers. The soil organic carbon (SOC) and total N storage were higher in planted forest than in barren and cultivated land uses.
