A Study on the Effective Surge Protection Method from Induced Lightning Surgeto Improve Isolate Grounding to Common Grounding (낙뢰 Surge 방호를 위한, 독립접지를 공통접지로 개선하는 효율적인 방법에 대한 연구)

  • This paper proposes the effective method to improve the protection from induced lightning Surge by making common grounding from individual grounding. Common grounding under equipotential principle is more effective than individual grounding for lightning Surge protection, and so common grounding is indicated as international technical standard under the AC power supply system with neutral line. So, this paper is to propose the effective way of induced lightning Surge protection method for currently installed power supply system which has no neutral grounded line and individual grounding which are weak for lightning Surge protection. This proposal can improve the power supply system as has neutral line, and improve the grounding system to common grounding system. And also this paper proposes to make effective equipotential system with voltage variable shunting devices for lightning Surge protection.

  • It is a widespread concern that electrical interconnection based network-on-chip (NoC) will ultimately face the limitation in communication bandwidth, transmission latency and power consumption in the near future. With the development of silicon photonics technology, a hybrid optical network-on-chip (HONoC) which embraces both electrical- and optical interconnect, is emerging as a promising solution to overcome these problems. Today's leading edge systems-on-chips (SoCs) comprise heterogeneous many-cores for higher energy efficiency, therefore, extended study beyond regular topology based NoC is required. This paper proposes an energy and latency optimization topology design technique for HONoC taking into account the traffic characteristics of target applications. The proposed technique is implemented with genetic algorithm and simulation results show the reduction by 13.84% in power loss and 28.14% in average latency, respectively.

  • Recently due to rapid improvement of integrated circuit design environment, size of IC design is to become large to possible design System on Chip(SoC) that one chip with multi function enclosed. Also cause to this rapid change, consumption market is require to spend smallest time for new product development. In this paper to propose a methodology can design a large size IC for save time and applied to design of MPEG Layer 2 decoder to can use audio receiver in digital broadcast system. The digital broadcast audio decoder in this paper is pointed to save hardware size as optimizing algorithm. MPEG Layer 2 decoder algorithm is include MAC to can have an effect on hardware size. So coefficients are using sign digit expression. It is for hardware optimization. If using this method can design MAC without multiplier. The designed audio decoder is using 14,000 gates hardware size and save 22% (4000 gates) hardware usage than using multiplier. Also can design MPEG Layer 2 decoder usable digital broadcast receiver for short time.

  • This paper proposes a DRMS(Distribution Remote Management System) which can enhance highly the economics of automatic metering system and the power quality supplied to the electric customer improving the efficiency of the meter reading, voltage management and load management work by realizing the remote meter reading, the remote voltage management and the remote load management based on the ADWHM(Advanced Digital Watt Hour Meter). The DRMS is designed so that the voltage management and load management work in remote site can be processed by collecting the voltage pattern and current pattern as well as watt hour data from all ADWHMs one time every month regularly or from special ADWHMS several time irregularly, A new on-line voltage and load management strategy based on the ADWHM is designed by analyzing the existing voltage management and load management process. Also, DRMS is designed so that watt-hour data, voltage pattern data, load pattern data and power factor data can be collected selectively according to the selection of user to assist effectively the methodology. Remote management program and database of the DRMS are implemented based on Visual C++, MFC and database library of MS. Also, DRMS is designed so as to communicate with the ADWHM using RS232C-TCP/IP converter and ADSL. The effectiveness of the remote metering function is proven by collecting and analyzing the data after ADWHMs installed in any site. The developed strategy and program also is verified through the simulation of voltage management and load management.

Activation of Fibrinolytic System during Open Heart Surgery (개심술중 섬유소융해계의 활성화에 관한 연구)

  • Hemorrhagic tendency observed in open heart surgery patients has been attributed, among other causes, to increased fibrinolytic activity during extracorporeal circulation. But the exact mechanism of enhanced fibrinolytic activity which occurs during extracorporeal circulation is still unknown. So, we studied and compared the changes of parameters of fibrinolytic and protein C system according to time obtained from the plasma of 31 adult open heart surgery patients[EGG group] and 10 adult general thoracic surgery patients[control group], in order to confirm the hypothesis that the activated protein C system might affect the fibrinolytic system during extracorporeal circulation. In ECC group, the nature of the enhanced fibrinolytic activity that evolved during extracorporeal circulation was characterized by significant increase in fibrin degradation products[P < 0.01] and significant decrease in plasminogen and alpha2-antiplasmin[P < 0.05, P < 0.01] in spite of adequate amount of heparin administration. These changes were most pronounced in the early phase of extracorporeal circulation and normalized after termination of extracorporeal circulation. The results of these observations were the same after volume correction with the value of hematocrit. The change of volume corrected protein C ratio during extracorporeal circulation revealed similar pattern to those of plasminogen and alpha2-antiplasmin [P < 0.01], but volume corrected ratio of free protein S showed significant increase after the commencement of extracorporeal circulation then decreased after extracorporeal circulation. Although the above mentioned changes occur similarly in both bubble type oxygenator-used and membrane oxygenator-used patients groups, but the degree of decrease was more severe in membrane oxygenator-used patients group [P < 0.01] and showed much slower recovery to reach to the preextracorporeal circulation level. These results confirm the hypothesis that the enhanced fibrinolysis during extracorporeal circulation might be caused by the activation of protein C system and the activation is possibly linked to the appearance of thrombin from contact activation of blood after wide exposure to the synthetic surfaces of extracorporeal circuit. A study for the utilization of ready-prepared foodservice system concept to the Korean hospital foodservice operations (병원급식에서 Ready-Prepared Foodservice System 이용에 관한 연구)

  • Here is a research on hospital foodservice system, when korea traditional food of pyeon yuk and bin dae deok were used by ready-prepared foodservice system, it was estimated the preservations of microbiological quality and sensory quality. All data collection was replicated three times. The results were as following; 1. In time and temperature data, two menu items were needed internal temperature below $7^{\circ}C$ in a cooling stage, and in the case of cook/chill storage, the days were shortened within weeks, and the holding time must be possiblely minimized. Finally foods were served sanitary. 2. In view of microbiological safety, in the case of cook/chill storage as $0{\sim}4^{\circ}C$ the days must be shortened within 2 weeks and its was possible to store until 6 weeks in $-20{\sim}-23.3^{\circ}C$. So to preserve pre-cooked food longly, it was effective to freeze them quickly by using vacuum package and to reheat them by a microwave oven before serving and to serve lastly in microbiological quality. 3. Hospital ready-prepared foodservice system with food storage in plastic bags, biochemical test of C. Perfingens C. botulinum and Salmonella were not detected. 4. By using of a microwave oven, it had effects of thawing, reheating and sterilizing of chilled and frozen foods in a short time. 5. Sensory evaluations were made by a 10-member panel using five scoring tests. Because sensory of quality was lowered in the case of chilled storage, it was possible to serve foods within 2 weeks. Texture and aroma were preserved by cook/frozen system and usually there was no significance from 4 weeks until 6 weeks, but considering of the objects, it was good to store until 4 weeks in sensory quality.

Hydro/solvothermal synthesis, crystal structure, and thermal behaviour of piperazine-templated nickel(II) and cobalt(II) sulfates

  • Two piperazine-templated metal sulfate complexes, $(C_4N_2H_{12})[Ni(H_2O)_6](SO_4)_2$, I and ($C_4N_2H_{12}$) $[Co(H_2O)_6](SO_4)_2$, II, have been synthesized by hydro/solvothermal reactions and their crystal structures analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. Complex I crystallizes in the monoclinic system, $P2_1/n$ space group, a=12.920(3), b=10.616(2), $c=13.303(2){\AA}$, ${\beta}=114.09(1)^{\circ}$, Z=4, $R_1=0.030$ for 3683 reflections; II: monoclinic $P2_1/n$, a=12.906(3), b=10.711(2), $c=13.303(2){\AA}$, ${\beta}=114.10(2)^{\circ}$, Z=4, $R_1=0.032$ for 4010 reflections. The crystal structures of the piperazine-templated metal(II) sulfates demonstrate zero-dimensional compound constituted by diprotonated piperazine cations, metal(II) cations and sulfate anions. The structures of complex I and II are substantially isostructural to that of the previously reported our piperazine-templated copper(II) sulfate complex $(C_4N_2H_{12})[Cu(H_2O)_6](SO_4)_2$. The central metal(II) atoms are coordinated by six water molecules in the octahedral geometry. The crystal structures are stabilized by three-dimensional networks of the $O_{water}-H{\cdots}O_{sulfate}$ and $N_{pip}-H{\cdots}O_{sulfate}$ hydrogen bonds between the water molecules and sulfate anions and protonated piperazine cations. Based on the results of thermal analysis, the thermal decomposition reactions of the complex I was analyzed to have three distinctive stages whereas the complex II proceed through several stages.

Performance Evaluation of SCR System for Generator Engine on Training Ship KAYA (가야호 발전기용 SCR System의 성능 평가)

  • NOx emission has been controlled because it is a major cause of the acid rain and effects considerably on formation and destruction of ozone. A SCR system on diesel engine is necessary to clear TierIII, because IMO(International Maritime Organization) plans on tightening regulations to TierIII at $1^{st}$ January 2016. In this study, flow analysis was accomplished with ANSYS Fluent program so that the SCR system would be retrofitted in training ship KAYA and the temperature distributions of exhaust gas in SCR sytem were investigated after it was installed. As a result, it was confirmed that pressure and velocity distributions in SCR system were depended on pipe line shapes, then it was designed as the pressure was lower. The temperature differential between 1 and 3 point was $15^{\circ}C$ because of evaporative latent heat of urea and the temperature of 4 point after catalyst was increased by $5^{\circ}C$ than 3 point because of exothermic reaction.

A CDMA-Based Communication Network for a Multiprocessor SoC (다중 프로세서를 갖는 SoC 를 위한 CDMA 기술에 기반한 통신망 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a new communication network for on-chip communication. The network is based on a direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) technique. The new communication network is suitable for a parallel processing system and also drastically reduces the I/O pin count. Our network architecture is mainly divided into a CDMA-based network interface (CNI), a communication channel, a synchronizer. The network includes a reverse communication channel for reducing latency. The network decouples computation task from communication task by the CNI. An extreme truncation is considered to simplify the communication link. For the scalability of the network, we use a PN-code reuse method and a hierarchical structure. The network elements have a modular architecture. The communication network is done using fully synthesizable Verilog HDL to enhance the portability between process technologies.
