연소생성물제거 기술에 대한 연구 동향 분석 (Research trend analysis for Combustion products, Combustion products remove technique)

  • 2015 국민안전처 통계에 따르면, 화재 피해 중 연소생성물에 의한 피해가 가장 많은 사상자를 내는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 이유로 최근 연소생성물에 관한 연구는 국내외에서 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 국내에서는 연소 생성물이 사람에게 미치는 영향과, 화염의 전파속도에 미치는 영향이라는 관점에서 연구가 진행되고 있고, 해외에서는 연소생성물이 사람에게 미치는 독성 뿐만 아니라 offshore 대피소에 미치는 영향까지 연구되고 있다. 연소생성물은 독성을 가지고 있고, 시야를 가려 탈출을 방해하기 때문에 많은 연구에서 실험과 CFD시뮬레이션을 이용하여 연소 생성물 제거 설비의 최적화에 관한 연구를 진행하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 연소를 통한 독성가스 발생 모델과, 그 가스의 제거 시설에 대한 연구 동향을 분석하여, 추후 연소생성물 연구의 기준이 될 것으로 판단된다.

Effect of Pyunkang-tang on Inflammatory Aspects of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in a Rat Model

  • We investigated the anti-inflammatory effect of Pyunkang-tang extract (PGT), a complex herbal extract based on traditional Chinese medicine that is used in Korea for controlling diverse pulmonary diseases, on cigarette smoke-induced pulmonary pathology in a rat model of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The constituents of PGT were Lonicerae japonica, Liriope platyphylla, Adenophora triphilla, Xantium strumarinum, Selaginella tamariscina and Rehmannia glutinosa. Rats were exposed by inhalation to a mixture of cigarette smoke extract (CSE) and sulfur dioxide for three weeks to induce COPD-like pulmonary inflammation. PGT was administered orally to rats and pathological changes to the pulmonary system were examined in each group of animals through measurement of tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF-${\alpha}$) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) at 21 days post-CSE treatment. The effect of PGT on the hypersecretion of pulmonary mucin in rats was assessed by quantification of the amount of mucus secreted and by examining histopathologic changes in tracheal epithelium. Confluent NCI-H292 cells were pretreated with PGT for 30 min and then stimulated with CSE plus PMA (phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate), for 24 h. The MUC5AC mucin gene expression was measured by RT-PCR. Production of MUC5AC mucin protein was measured by ELISA. The results were as follows: (1) PGT inhibited CSE-induced pulmonary inflammation as shown by decreased TNF-${\alpha}$ and IL-6 levels in BALF; (2) PGT inhibited the hypersecretion of pulmonary mucin and normalized the increased amount of mucosubstances in goblet cells of the CSE-induced COPD rat model; (3) PGT inhibited CSE-induced MUC5AC mucin production and gene expression in vitro in NCI-H292 cells, a human airway epithelial cell line. These results suggest that PGT might regulate the inflammatory aspects of COPD in a rat model.

EPDM/PP에 바탕을 둔 에칠렌-프로필렌 디엔 모노머/폴리프로필렌/클레이 나노복합체의 연소특성 (Combustion Properties of Ethylene-propylene diene monomer/polypropylene/Clay Nanocomposites Based on EDPM/PP)

  • Effects of ethylene-propylene diene monomer (EPDM)/polypropylene (PP), zinc oxide, stearic acid, and clay on the combustive properties based on EDPM/PP were investigated. The EDPM/PP/clay nanocomposites was compounded to prepare specimen for combustive analysis by cone calorimeter (ISO 5660-1). It was found that the specific mass loss rate (SMLR) in the nanocomposites decreased due to the fire resistance compared with unfilled EDPM/PP, while the nanocomposites showed the higher total heat release (THR), higher CO production release, and higher specific extinction area (SEA) than those of virgin EPDM/PP. The stearic acid for softening ruber increased the THR and amount of smoke by itself, combustible.

  • Firesafety design engineerings have been mainly derived from complicated rearrangement of descriptive specifications in codes or regulations through a great number of lessons from fire disasters. In this paper, the author refers to some recent developments in the field of building fire protection. At first, the author expresses his viewpoints concerning performance-based design codes, which have been popular throughout the world as a symbol of freedom from restricted usage of building materials and components prescrived in regulation or bylaws, in spite of some conflicts between objects-oriented design method and industrial mass production. Secondly, the author introduces several innovative fire protection methods adopted for large or void spaces in building complex. Finally, the author forcasts a next development of firesafety science and technology, aimed at securing personal safety in hyperscale urban areas.

알킬렌디아미노알킬-비스-포스폰산 유도체에 의해 처리된 중밀도섬유판의 연소성 (Combustive Properties of Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) Specimens Treated with Alkylenediaminoalkyl-Bis-Phosphonic Acid Derivatives)

  • 이 연구에서는 피페라지노메틸-비스-포스폰산(PIPEABP), 메틸피페라지노메틸-비스-포스폰산(MPIPEABP), N,N-디메틸 렌디아미노메틸-비스-포스폰산(MDEDAP), 비스-디알킬아미노알킬 포스폰산(DMDAP)으로 처리된 중밀도섬유판(MDF)의 연소성을 시험하였다. 15 wt%의 알킬렌디아미노알킬-비스-포스폰산 수용액으로 MDF에 3회 붓칠하여 실온에서 건조시킨 후, 콘칼로리미터(ISO 5660-1)를 이용하여 그의 연소성을 시험하였다. 그 결과, 알킬렌디아미노알킬-비스-포스폰산 및 비스-디메틸아미노메틸 포스피닉산(DMDAP)로 처리한 시험편은 연소속도 감소에 의하여 무처리한 시험편에 비해 최대질량감소율 도달시간($TMLR_{peak}$) = (340475) s을 지연시켰다. 게다가 $CO_{mean}$은 (0.0883~0.0963) kg/kg으로서 무처리한 시험편(0.0612 kg/kg)보다 높게 측정되었다. 특별히 화학 첨가제 수용액으로 처리한 시험편의 비소화면적($SEA_{mean}=5m^2/kg{\sim}21.5m^2/kg$)은 무처리한 시험편의 비소화면적($-426.8m^2/kg$) 보다 높았다. 따라서 알킬렌디아미노알킬-비스-포스폰산 및 비스-디알킬아미노알킬 포스폰산으로 처리된 MDF의 시험편은 무처리한 MDF 시험편의 난연성을 향상시킨 것으로 판단된다. 그러나 연기발생량 감소에는 부정적인 영향을 주었다.

자연 건조된 굴참나무와 느티나무의 연소특성 (Combustion Characteristics of the Quercus variabilis and Zelkova Serrata Dried at Room Temperature)

  • 건자재로서 나무 결함중의 하나는 그의 가연성이다. 본 연구의 목적은 자연 건조된 굴참나무와 느티나무의 연소성질을 시험하는 것과 건자재로서의 사용에 대한 바람직한 특성을 알아내는 것이다. 열방출율과 CO 발생과 연기차폐와 같은 연기지수를 콘칼로리미터(ISO 5660-1)를 이용하여 측정하였다. 50 kW/$m^2$의 열속하에서 굴참나무의 평균 열방출율, $HRR_{mean}$(77.94 kW/$m^2$)은 느티나무의 $HRR_{mean}$(13.06 kW/$m^2$)과 비교하여 높게 나타내었다. 그리고 굴참나무의 평균 비소화면적, $SEA_{mean}$ 41.11 $m^2$/kg은 느티나무의 평균 비소화면적 $SEA_{mean}$ 9.23 $m^2$/kg에 비하여 높게 나타났다. 이들 결과는 시험목의 밀도에 의존함을 보여준다. 그리고 굴참나무는 느티나무에 비하여 높은 CO 발생속도를 나타내었다. 또한 느티나무가 굴참나무에 비해 숯생성으로 인해 난연성이 증대되었음을 보여주었다.

콘 칼로리미터를 이용한 바이오매스의 연소특성에 관한 연구(I) - 단풍잎, 은행잎, 덤불, 솔잎에 대해서 - (A Study on the Combustion Characteristics of Biomass using Cone- calorimeter (I) : the Case of Maple Leaves, Gingko Leaves, Bush, Pine Needles)

  • In recent years, concerns have been growing globally regarding greenhouse gases. Open burning of biomass causes emission of a number of greenhouse and other gases and substances. This paper studied an analysis on the characteristics of four types of biomass using duel type cone calorimeter. Cone calorimeter is widely used for assessing combustibility of materials in Europe. As a result, we evaluated several characteristics of biomass, such as heat released rate, smoke production rate, CO, $CO_2$ production and mass loss rate, and so on. $CO_2$ is currently responsible for over $60\%$ of the enhanced greenhouse effect, and may be the most important contributor to future. $CO_2$ production for biomass in the range of $1.74\~1.99kg/kg$ is similar to previous research conducted by Bhattacharya et al. (2002a).

위성사진으로 본 북한의 시멘트 산업 (North Korea Cement Industry in Satellite Imagery)

  • The possibility of economic exchange with North Korea is increasing, but there is still a shortage of information of cement industry, which occupies the largest proportion of North Korean construction material industry. Therefore, this study researched the status of cement production facility management using satellite photographs of 16 cement factories in North Korea, and examined the operating status of North Korean cement industry by observing smoke discharged from the chimneys of the cement production facilities. When the satellite photographs were analyzed, it was observed that the monthly stack fog ratio of the North Korean cement factories was 55% in 2016, 60% in 2017 and nearly 65% in 2018. This demonstrates that the average operating ratio has been increasing continuously. However, the operation rate of the five major cement factories reaches the limit, actual cement production is estimated to have maintained the previous level or small increased.

콘 칼로리미터를 이용한 건축 바닥재의 연소거동과 가스유해성 평가 (Burning Behavior of Flooring Materials in the Cone Calorimeter and Evaluation of Toxic Smoke)

  • 건축 내장재 중 바닥재의 연소거동을 살펴보기 위해 열류량 $50kWm^{-2}$의 콘 칼로리미터를 이용하여 측정하였다. 7종의 국산 바닥재를 이용하여 각각의 연소 거동을 최대 열방출률과 전체 열방출량 그리고 평균 열방출률을 통해서 살펴보았다. 실험한 결과 중밀도섬유판(MDF) 바닥재가 다른 바닥재에 비해 높은 열 방출 특성을 나타났다. 또한 MDF 바닥재는 연소 시 질량의 감소가 다른 바닥재보다 더 큰 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 연소 시 발생하는 가스 발생량을 측정하였는데, PE계 섬유판(PE fiberboard flooring)과 PVC계 plastic resin sheet에서 높은 일산화탄소와 이산화탄소의 발생량을 확인할 수 있었다. 비광소멸면적을 통해서 가스 평균 방출량을 살펴보면 일산화탄소나 이산화탄소와 같은 경향을 나타났다. 바닥재의 가스유해성 평가는 쥐의 행동 정지시간을 기준으로 측정하였다. 측정 결과 MDF 바닥재에서 유해성이 높은 것으로 측정되었다.

산업연관분석을 이용한 음식점 금연 정책의 경제적 효과 분석 (Estimating the Economic Impact of Smoke-free Policy in Restaurants using an Input-Output Analysis)

  • Smoking bans at restaurants and bars have recently been introduced in Korea. Researchers and stakeholder are interested in the resulting changes in sales of restaurants and bars and their impact on overall national economy including employment. We examined the input-output tables (2013) issued by The Bank of Korea. The result showed that the production inducement coefficient was about 2.16; employment inducement coefficient was 13.1 for the restaurant and bar industry. The amount of inducement in the national production was calculated by 93,100 billion KRW. Employment inducement was calculated by 1,219,610 persons overall industries for a year. Assuming there comes a change (3%, 5%, 10%) in restaurant and bar production in consequence of the smoking bans, we computed following change in the national production and employment. The resulting changed in national production was 6,033 billion, 10,055 billion, and 20,110 billion KRW, respectively. The impact of employment overall industries was calculated 79,032, 131,720 and 263,441 persons, respectively.
