  • The fire precautions regulation for Rolling stock in England, France and America concentrate on ensuring of safety in respect of material choosing method and consideration of design. In order to guarantee fire safety in Korean Rolling stocks, it is necessary to establish the fire precautions regulation at the two respects. Korean Standard of product classifies only incombustibility or not. It is not sufficient to classify various materials by testing method for incombustibility of material. Korean Standard to be reserved should be able to cover the smoke density test for small size and classification of the detail grade of material against the reaction to fire

  • We investigated the fire characteristics of the subway electric car's interior materials and evaluated the safety of it. The testing methods are ISO 4589-2 for Limited Oxygen Index, ISO 5658-2 for surface flame spread, ISO 5660-1 for Heat Release Rate, ASTM E 662 for smoke density and BS 6852 Annex B.2 for gas toxicity. The materials of seven organization including KNR were tested. Most of the materials are under the levels of the foreign country's demand. We also reported the test methods of other countries and compared it to ours.

  • Fire experiments were conducted in a real scale room which is assumed to be a residential living room under the various opening conditions and locations of wood crib fire source to study on fire hazard before and after sprinkler activation. Concentrations of oxygen and carbon monoxide, smoke density, and temperature were measured to look into environmental conditions in a room of fire origin. The response time of residential sprinklers was also examined in relation to distance between sprinkler heads and a fire source.

  • Today, our city structure is being complicated from the development of industry. Invisible losses, life and fortune loss caused by arson is embossed in our society. The preparation of counter plan about increasing factors of fire damage is not easy. With respect to mankind life, however, it is very important. Therefore, the focus of this research examine refuge degree in each smoke density level when a fire break out in the space. I evaluated auditory guide facility thorough real scale test. In this thesis, I will propose the efficient refuge deriving facilities.

  • In this study, the effect of EGR and fuel injection pressure on the characteristics of combustion and emission performance of the common-rail diesel engine is investigated using DME fuel as a smoke-free alternative fuel. Because the heating value and density of DME fuel are lower than those of diesel fuel, the injection duration of the DME engine is relatively longer than the injection duration of the diesel engine with the same injection pressure. However, the higher injection pressure can shorten the injection duration for the DME engine. Although the smoke level of the DME engine is much lower than that of the diesel engine, the NOx is at a level similar to that of the diesel engine. As a proposed solution for this, the EGR technique is empirically applied to the DME engine. In the experiments, the injection pressure was changed from 200bar to 400bar, and the EGR rate was limited under 40%. With the same injection timing and fuel amount, the experiment results indicated that the increase of injection pressure led to the increase of IMEP while decreasing HC and CO emissions. However, the NOx emission tends to increase as the injection pressure becomes higher. On the other hand, as the EGR rate was increased, NOx emission and A/F were reduced while the HC and CO emissions were increased. Because HC and CO emissions have the critical A/F point where the emissions of HC and CO are rapidly increased, it is proposed that the EGR rate must be limited under the critical EGR rate.

  • 오늘날 인간의 삶의 질 향상과 다양한 욕구를 충족시키기 위한 건축물은 대형화, 고층화, 다양화되는 추세이며, 이에 따른 화재의 발생빈도 및 잠재적인 위험요소가 증가되고 있다. 특히, 화재발생 시 수직으로의 연소확대 위험성이 증가되어 재실자의 피난시간이 지연되는 문제점이 있다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위해서는 화재를 조기에 감지하고 건축물의 구조 등을 감안하여 위험순위에 따른 화재 경보방식을 적용할 필요가 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 수직 연소확대의 위험성을 많이 내포하고 있는 2가지 구조인 전면형 이중외피 구조와 계단 구조에 대해 수직 연소확대 특성을 설명하고, 국내 외 화재경보방식을 비교 검토한 후 FDS 이용하여 연기밀도, 가시거리, CO 농도를 비교 분석하여 각 구조에 적합한 화재경보방식을 제안하였다.

자연 건조된 굴참나무와 느티나무의 연소특성 (Combustion Characteristics of the Quercus variabilis and Zelkova Serrata Dried at Room Temperature)

  • 건자재로서 나무 결함중의 하나는 그의 가연성이다. 본 연구의 목적은 자연 건조된 굴참나무와 느티나무의 연소성질을 시험하는 것과 건자재로서의 사용에 대한 바람직한 특성을 알아내는 것이다. 열방출율과 CO 발생과 연기차폐와 같은 연기지수를 콘칼로리미터(ISO 5660-1)를 이용하여 측정하였다. 50 kW/$m^2$의 열속하에서 굴참나무의 평균 열방출율, $HRR_{mean}$(77.94 kW/$m^2$)은 느티나무의 $HRR_{mean}$(13.06 kW/$m^2$)과 비교하여 높게 나타내었다. 그리고 굴참나무의 평균 비소화면적, $SEA_{mean}$ 41.11 $m^2$/kg은 느티나무의 평균 비소화면적 $SEA_{mean}$ 9.23 $m^2$/kg에 비하여 높게 나타났다. 이들 결과는 시험목의 밀도에 의존함을 보여준다. 그리고 굴참나무는 느티나무에 비하여 높은 CO 발생속도를 나타내었다. 또한 느티나무가 굴참나무에 비해 숯생성으로 인해 난연성이 증대되었음을 보여주었다.

Combustion Characteristics of a Hot Water Boiler System Convertibly Fueled by Rice Husk and Heavy Oil - Heavy Oil Combustion Characteristics -

  • Purpose: With the ever-rising energy prices, thermal energy heavily consuming facilities of the agricultural sector such as commercialized greenhouses and large-scale Rice Processing Complexes (RPCs) need to cut down their energy cost if they must run profitable businesses continually. One possible way to reduce their energy cost is to utilize combustible agricultural by-products or low-price oil instead of light oil as the fuel for their boiler systems. This study aims to analyze the heavy oil combustion characteristics of a newly developed hot water boiler system that can use both rice husk and heavy oil as its fuel convertibly. Methods: Heavy oil combustion experiments were conducted in this study employing four fuel feed rates (7.6, 8.5, 9.5, 11.4 $l/h$) at a combustion furnace vacuum pressure of 500 Pa and with four combustion furnace vacuum pressures (375, 500, 625, 750 Pa) at fuel feed rates of 9.5 and 11.4 $l/h$. Temperatures at five locations inside the combustion furnace and 20 additional locations throughout the whole hot water boiler system were measured to ascertain the combustion characteristics of the heavy oil. From the temperature measurement data, the thermal efficiency of the system was calculated. Flue gas smoke density and concentrations of air-polluting components in the flue gas were also measured by a gas analyzer. Results: As the fuel feed rate or combustion furnace vacuum pressure increased, the average temperature in the combustion furnace decreased but the thermal efficiency of the system showed no distinctive change. On the other hand, the thermal efficiency of the system was inversely proportionally to the vacuum level in the furnace. For all experimental conditions, the thermal efficiency remained in the range of 80.1-89.6%. The CO concentration in the flue gas was negligibly low. The NO and $SO_2$ concentration as well as the smoke density met the legal requirements. Conclusions: Considering the combustion temperature characteristics, thermal efficiency, and flue gas composition, the optimal combustion condition of the system seemed to be either the fuel feed rate of 9.5 $l/h$ with a combustion furnace vacuum pressure of 375 Pa or a fuel feed rate of 11.4 $l/h$ with a furnace vacuum pressure between 500 Pa and 625 Pa.

알킬렌디아미노알킬-비스-포스폰산과 비스-디메틸아미노메틸 포스핀산으로 처리된 중질섬유판의 연소가스 발생 (Combustion Gas-emission of Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) Treated with Alkylenediaminialkyl-bis-phosphonic Acids and Bis-(dimethylaminomethyl) Phosphinic Acid)

  • 이 연구에서는 피페라지노메틸-비스-포스폰산(PIPEABP), 메틸피페라지노메틸-비스-포스폰산(MPIPEABP), N,N-디메틸렌디아미노메틸-비스-포스폰산(MDEDAP) 그리고 비스-디메틸아미노메틸 포스핀산(DMDAP)의 화학 첨가제로 처리된 중질섬유판(MDF)의 연소가스 발생을 시험하였다. 15 wt%의 인-질소산류 첨가제 수용액으로 중질섬유판에 붓으로 3회 칠하여 실온에서 건조시킨 후, 콘칼로리미터(Conecalorimeter, ISO 5660-1, 2)를 이용하여 연소가스의 발생을 시험하였다. 그 결과, 인-질소산류 첨가제로 처리한 시험편의 최대연기발생률($SPR_{peak}$)은 무처리 시험편에 비교하여 18.5~41.5%로 낮게 나타내었다. 그러나 인-질소산류 첨가제로 처리한 시험편에 대한 최대일산화탄소 생성($CO_{peak}$), (6.7~24.2)%은 공시험편보다 높게 나타났다. 또한 최대이산화탄소 발생($CO_{2peak}$), (4.2~24.4)%은 공시험편보다 낮게 나타났다. 반면에 $O_2$의 최대결핍률은 사람에게 치명적일 수 있는 수준인 15%보다 훨씬 높으므로 그로 인한 위험성은 피할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 MDF에 인-질소산류로 처리한 시험편은 부분적으로 연소성이 억제되었다. 그러나 일산화탄소의 감소에는 부정적인 영향을 미쳤다.

숯 첨가 콘크리트벽돌의 물성특성과 친환경 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Properties and Friendly Environment Efficiency Charcoal Concrete Bricks)

  • After the new house symptoms recently, room environment pollution problem of building syndrome and so on is becoming research about ways to solve this being risen. Is taking advantage of nature data by building materials by one of this way, but Friendly Environmental performance examination for structure material is insufficient misgovernment being real condition that put emphasis in ability as most embellishment and in finish. Environmental examination is insufficient misgovernment on factor itself as structure material. Also, being real condition that radon that is responsible for lung cancer occurrence next to smoke in building materials such as concrete and so on is happened, the danger is reported much through mass communications and research paper etc. Therefore, this research measured radon release amount and the carbon dioxide adsorption rate for physical special quality measuring and Friendly Environment Efficiency that follow to 'KS F 4004 Concrete bricks' regulation after manufacture Concrete Bricks utilizing charcoal that is nature material by sand. This study finding carbon dioxide density appeared and displayed effect that charcoal Controls radon release that happen in Concrete Bricks to maximum 74% that decrease to best 95% though decreased the charcoal addition rate increases.
