Development of Smartphone Application for Monitoring Container Cargo (컨테이너화물 모니터링을 위한 스마트폰 애플리케이션 개발)

  • Most of monitoring systems in logistics industry have limitations on monitoring container information in real-time. And customers only could check information gathered from certain points through web browser. That is why it is very hard to take actions in advance when emergency situation has happened. But if customers could check information such as position and status of freight in real-time through their mobile devices, they could take prompt actions. So, in this study, mobile application based on mobile devices is developed to monitor position and status information of the container in real-time. Entire devices monitoring container in aspect of logistics security are handled by workers in the field. So it is strongly required to develop monitoring system operated in mobile devices. For that reason this study aims to develop mobile application in order to monitor information related to container security and safety in real-time.

  • As smartphones have become widely used, topics of smartphone become a hot research subject in IT technologies. Many applications have been developed for the smartphone and the application market has become more and more increasing. However here are few studies or application developments on Korea's traditional games. In this paper we developed Korea's traditional board game Gonu. People who are young or old can play the game. We expect that many applications which related with Korean culture are developed on the smartphone environment.

Smart Multiple-Tap System Based on WiFi for reduction of Standby-Power

  • In this paper, we proposed a smart multiple-tap system which a remote user with smartphone can control multiple-taps in order to reduce standby-power consumption more conveniently when plugged-in electric appliances are turned-off. Recently, several researches of smart multiple-tap using IoT technology has reported. However, in these researches, an additional device like as a server computer is necessary, or multiple-taps could be only remotely controlled by smartphone and not directly controlled by on/off switch. The proposed smart multiple-tap system does not need any additional device only if it has a WiFi router, and it can be used for user as well as remote control using smartphone application and physically direct control using contact switches like existing multiple-taps. Our approach is to develop a smart multiple-tap device capable of WiFi communication can each serve as a server or a client, and can be operated by the hybrid switch combining the on/off contact switch and the relay switch. We implemented the prototype of the proposed system composed of the smart multiple-tap device and the smartphone application, and the test of the prototype validates the proposed system.

  • Smart TV is to form a market of new industries along with the smartphone that appeared in the early 2000s. With the development of IT technology and the emergence of smart phones, user to pursue the application of high satisfaction. The smartphone has to meet the needs of the user in a variety of applications. However, Smart TV which led to a decrease in the development of a member of the application that reflect the needs of the user. Smart TV is popularized, the approach may be used instead of the application of high specification, the smart TV feel to be a smart are required to meet the needs of the user. Therefore in this paper, using the latest IT technology to provide a smart TV applications. This provides a feeling in conjunction as a system of one smart TV, smartphone, the exercise bike like to travel the distance of the actual user. For this reason to use WebOS, HTML5, Web sockets, the technology of Android.

Real-time Heart Rate Measurement based on Photoplethysmography using Android Smartphone Camera

  • With the development of smartphone technologies enable photoplethysmogram (PPG) acquisition by camera and heart rate (HR) measurement. This papers presents improved algorithm to extract HR from PPG signal recorded by smartphone camera and to develop real-time PPG signal processing Android application. 400 video samples recorded by Samsung smartphone camera are imported as input data for further processing and evaluating algorithm on MATLAB. An optimized algorithm is developed and tested on Android platform with different kind of Samsung smartphones. To assess algorithm's performance, medical device Beurer BC08 is used as reference. According to related works, accuracy parameters includes 90% number of samples that has relative errors less than 5%, Person correlation (r) more than 0.9, and standard estimated error (SEE) less than 5 beats-per-minutes (bpm).

Development and Effects of Smartphone App-Based Exercise Program for Hemodialysis Patients (혈액투석 대상자를 위한 스마트폰 앱 기반 운동프로그램 개발 및 효과)

  • Purpose: To examine the effects of a smartphone application-based exercise program on self-efficacy expectations (SEE) and outcome expectations regarding exercise (OEE), physical fitness, activity level, physiological indices, and health-related quality of life in a sample of hemodialysis patients. Methods: A quasi-experimental control group pre-test post-test design was used. Subjects were recruited from two university hospitals in G city. The subjects were assigned randomly by coin toss: 33 participants to the experimental group and 30 to the control group. A literature review and the self-efficacy theory were used to develop the smartphone program. Experts designed and verified the program to be userfriendly and in consideration of user interaction. Data were collected through a self-report pre-test post-test questionnaire and online medical records. Results: In the experimental group, the levels of physical fitness and physical activity were significantly improved post-test, but the scores on health-related quality of life and the physical indices did not improve. In the experimental group, the SEE and OEE post-test scores were also significantly higher than the pre-test scores, but the control group's scores did not change. Conclusion: The smartphone application-based exercise program based on self-efficacy theory significantly improved the level of physical fitness and activity, SEE, and OEE for hemodialysis patients. The use of this application-based exercise program for hemodialysis patients might be an effective nursing intervention tool for improving SEE, OEE, level of physical fitness, and physical activity.

  • In this paper, as children's smartphone penetration and usage time increase, the need for educational application development is increasing.Therefore, in this paper, we propose an idea for the development of an application service that is optimized for children and designed to be easily used by children by applying image recognition technology. Using image recognition technology, we propose a service that helps children easily take pictures of objects with their smartphone's camera and easily identify appropriate search results for them. Through this, even in an environment where it is difficult to receive direct guidance from a teacher due to online classes, children can easily study on their own initiative or find a subject they want to learn more about and learn.

An alternative method for smartphone input using AR markers

  • As smartphones came into wide use recently, it has become increasingly popular not only among young people, but among middle-aged people as well. Most smartphones adopt capacitive full touch screen, so touch commands are made by fingers unlike the PDAs in the past that use touch pens. In this case, a significant portion of the smartphone's screen is blocked by the finger so it is impossible to see the screens around the finger touching the screen; this causes difficulties in making precise inputs. To solve this problem, this research proposes a method of using simple AR markers to improve the interface of smartphones. A marker is placed in front of the smartphone camera. Then, the camera image of the marker is analyzed to determine the position of the marker as the position of the mouse cursor. This method can enable click, double-click, drag-and-drop used in PCs as well as touch, slide, long-touch-input in smartphones. Through this research, smartphone inputs can be made more precise and simple, and show the possibility of the application of a new concept of smartphone interface.

  • Recently Chinese education market and social interest has been extended. Accordingly, smart learning based on smartphone applications became part of new educational paradigm. Also, there are more active research and development of applications for the Chinese language education. In this paper, we designed and implemented the smartphone functional application prototype for learning basic Chinese characters. Expression of Chinese characters, the comparison, listening in pronunciation, voice recording and listening, related content learning, and implement testing presented using casual user interface. In the future study, we will develop the prototype with user interface for learning Chinese conversation and individual index of evaluation can be effective learning Instrument without additional tools.

Development of Vehicle Status Alerts System for Personal Information Leakage Protection using the NFC-based GCM Service (개인정보 유출 방지를 위한 NFC 기반 GCM 서비스를 이용한 차량 상황 알림 시스템 개발)

  • This paper proposes a message transfer application using smartphone with NFC(Near Field Communication) and GCM(Goolge Cloud Messaging) technology for prevention of personal information leakage. In implementing for the proposed system, we design a NFC-based vehicle status alerts service which make it possible to communicate with smartpone message without phone-number between a car driver and an unspecified person. The application provides message communication mechanism without exposing the real phone number, using the NFC tag written with the driver's smartphone device ID and GCM push messages. Through the evaluation result of the actual implemented application, the proposed system can be efficient technology in protection for leakage of personal information such as personal phone- number in daily life.
