  • Smart factory is a future factory that collects, analyzes, and monitors various data in real time by attaching sensors to equipment in the factory. In a smart factory, it is very important to inquire and generate the status and history of equipment in real time, and the emergence of various smart devices enables this to be performed more efficiently. This paper proposes a multi device-based system that can create, search, and delete equipment status and history in real time. The proposed system uses the Android system and the smart glass system at the same time in consideration of the special environment of the factory. The smart glass system uses a QR code for equipment recognition and provides a more efficient work environment by using a voice recognition function. We designed a system structure for real time equipment monitoring based on multi devices, and we show practicality by implementing and Android system, a smart glass system, and a web application server.

  • This study proposes a new smart base isolation system that employs Magneto-Rheological Elastomers (MREs), a class of smart materials whose elastic modulus or stiffness can be varied depending on the magnitude of an applied magnetic field. It also evaluates the dynamic performance of the MRE-based isolation system in reducing vibrations in structures subject to various seismic excitations. As controllable stiffness elements, MREs can increase the dynamic control bandwidth of the isolation system, improving its vibration reduction capability. To study the effectiveness of the MRE-based isolation system, this paper compares its dynamic performance in reducing vibration responses of a base-isolated single-story structure (i.e., 2DOF) with that of a conventional base-isolation system. Moreover, two control algorithms (linear quadratic regulator (LQR)-based control and state-switched control) are considered for regulating the stiffness of MREs. The simulation results show that the MRE-based isolation system outperformed the conventional system in suppressing the maximum base drift, acceleration, and displacement of the structure.

  • In this research, vibration and smart control analysis of a concrete foundation reinforced by $SiO_2$ nanoparticles and covered by piezoelectric layer on soil medium is investigated. The soil medium is simulated with spring constants and the Mori-Tanaka low is used for obtaining the material properties of nano-composite structure and considering agglomeration effects. With considering first order shear deformation theory, the total potential energy of system is calculated and by means of Hamilton's principle in three displacement directions and electric potential, the six coupled equilibrium equations are obtained. Also, based an analytical method, the frequency of system is calculated. The effects of applied voltage, volume percent and agglomeration of $SiO_2$ nanoparticles, soil medium and geometrical parameters of structure are shown on the frequency of system. Results show that with applying negative voltage, the frequency of structure is increased.

  • This paper evaluated the safety and serviceability of a building structure considering the multi-hazard and proposed TMD-based adaptive smart control system to improve the structural performance. To make multi-hazard loads, an artificial earthquake and artificial wind loads were generated based on representative regions of strong seismicity and strong wind in U.S.A. The safety and serviceability of a 20-story example building structure were investigated using the generated artificial loads. A smart TMD was employed to improve the safety and serviceability of the example structure and its capacity of structural performance improvement was evaluated. The smart TMD was comprised of a MR (magnetorheological) damper. Numerical analysis showed that the example building structure could not satisfy the design limit of safety and serviceability with respect to multi-hazard. The smart TMD effectively reduced the seismic responses associated with the safety and wind-induce responses associated with serviceability.

  • This paper presents the design and experimental evaluation of fast output sampling feedback controller to minimize structural vibration of a cantilever beam using Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wires as control actuators and piezoceramics as sensor and disturbance actuator. Linear dynamic models of the smart cantilever beam are obtained using online recursive least square parameter estimation. A digital control system that consists of $Simulink^{TM}$ modeling software and dSPACE DS1104 controller board is used for identification and control. The effectiveness of the controller is shown through simulation and experimentation by exciting the structure at resonance.

  • A new smart antenna scheme based on spatial FFT is proposed. By combining the output of spatial FFT, the proposed structure shows similar performance gain compared to ordinary smart antenna systems. Moreover. the proposed scheme could be easily integrated to general receiver without beam focusing module. The analysis and simulation results show that the performances of proposed scheme are comparable to ordinary smart antenna systems

Especially there has been rapidly increase in the fields using ESS (Energy Storage System), which is the technology for storing the energy from nature. The application fields of ESS is continuously growing and expanding to various types of technologies. However, in recent years there have been continuing problems with the safety of ESS. And related researches are going on. In this paper, we has proposed a system structure to utilize more secure ESS and has monitored the system status of ESS in real time by using smart phone app. This paper has also proposed a new method to configure secure ESS by implementing GUI (Graphical User Interface) to control the system. And then explain experimental results to investigate the efficiency of the proposed ESS.
