  • In the past decade, many countries developed varies promising theories, methodologies and technologies for water resources management, such as Smart Water in Korea, eWater in Australia, Intelligent Water in Untied States, and Internet of Water in China. It is no exaggeration to say that Smart Water Management(SWM) will have a major role to play in addressing the global water challenges in the background of climate change, population growth and rapid urbanization. As a result, we can see major shifts taking place in the structure of the water industry, with a need for new approaches, skills, and water management policies. All these point towards a brighter future for the smart water sector and a new water paradigm, with applications and potential throughout the water cycle. However, each countries have their technology and industry standard system which may swift similar innovation and technology into different channels. In that sense, developing a common performance index and standard docking adapter for assessing Smart Water Management Initiatives(SWMI) is crucial for drawing a linkage of SWMI and SWMs to a way to implement advanced technology across Asia and Pacific. The performance index and standard docking adapter will facilitate quantitative and qualitative effects of utilized SWM techniques.

음식물 신선도 모니터링을 위한 풀 패시브 UHF 스마트 센서 태그 (A fully UHF-powered smart sensor tag in food freshness monitoring)

  • 본 연구는 915MHz의 UHF (Ultra High Frequency) 대역에서 RF 에너지 하베스팅 기술을 이용하는 풀 패시브 스마트 센서태그 개발을 목표로 한다. 다양한 방사 조건에서 전력수집을 최적화하기 위해, 최대전력점추적(MPPT: maximum power point tracking)을 활용하는 효율적인 에너지 하베스팅 모듈이 사용된다. 특히 제안하는 태그는 에너지 획득과 데이터 전송 능력 향상을 위해 두개의 직교 안테나를 사용한다. 실험 결과 개발된 스마트 센서태그는 4m 거리에서 DC 3.6V 출력을 위해 0.19mW 정도의 낮은 입력 RF 전력을 획득 할 수 있음을 보인다. 더욱이 제안하는 스마트 센서태그는 저전력 센서어레이로 2m 거리에서 무전원 식품 신선도 모니터링을 완벽하게 실현가능하다.

전위계차 센서를 이용한 원격센싱을 위한 ELF 대역 EMI 제거 및 PLN 응용 연구 (Study on EMI Elimination and PLN Application in ELF Band for Romote Sensing with Electric Potentiometer)

  • 분 논문에서는 전위계 센서를 이용한 비접촉식 동작인식거리를 확장하기 위해 1K Hz 이하의 극저주파 EMI를 제거하는 기법과 제스처 동작 시작점 추출을 위한 PLN(Power Line Noice)을 이용하는 기법을 제시한다. 스마트기기 상에 장착된 전위계차 센서 주변에서 발생하는 극저주파대역의 전기장의 세기를 측정하여 효율적인 센서의 배치를 통해 EMI를 제거하는 동시에 60Hz 대역의 PLN 잡음은 오히려 동작 시작점 검출을 위하여 이용하는 기법을 제안한다. 이 후, 접지를 통해 스마트 기기 및 센서의 회로에서 발생하는 전원선 잡음을 제거하고, 스마트 TV와 센서의 사이를 차폐시킴으로써 스마트 기기에서 발생하는 전기적 잡음을 제거한다. 마지막으로 필터기법을 이용하여 남아있는 미세 잡음을 제거한다. 전위계차 센서를 스마트기기의 비접촉식 원격제어에 활용하기 위한 극저주파대역 EMI의 효과적인 제거 기법 및 성능을 분석하였으며, 또한 전위계차 센서의 비접촉식 응용에 난제중 하나인 동작시작점 검출을 위한 효과적인 방법을 제시하여 제스처 인식거리를 실제 응용가능한 3m 이상으로 확장할 수 있음을 보였다.

  • Over the last few decades, various innovative technologies have emerged that have significantly contributed to making life easier for humans. Various information and communication technologies (ITCs) have emerged as a result of the global technological revolution, including big data, IoT, 4G and 5G networks, cloud computing, mobile computing, and artificial intelligence. These technologies have been adopted in urban planning and development, which gave rise to the concept of smart cities in the 1990s. A smart city is a type of city that uses ITCs to exchange and share information to enhance the quality of services for its citizens. With the global population increasing at unprecedented levels, cities are overwhelmed with a myriad of challenges, such as the energy crisis, environmental pollution, sanitation and sewage challenges, and water quality issues, and therefore, have become a convergence point of economic, social, and environmental risks. The concept of a smart city is a multidisciplinary, unified approach that has been adopted by governments and municipalities worldwide to overcome these challenges. Though challenging, this transformation is essential for cities with differing technological and social features, which all have the potential to determine the success or failure of the digital transformation of cities into smart cities. In recent years, researchers, businesses, and the government have all turned their attention to the emerging field of smart cities. Accordingly, this paper aims to represent a thorough understanding of the movement toward smart cities. The key themes identified are smart city definitions and concepts, smart city dimensions, and smart city architecture of different layers. Furthermore, this article discusses the challenges and some examples of smart cities.

경기ㆍ인천지역 학교급식 조리종사원의 스마트 HACCP 사용의 직무수행도, 직무만족도, 및 직무스트레스에 미치는 요인 분석 (Analysis of Factors Affecting Smart HACCP Utilization: Job Performance, Job Satisfaction, and Job Stress among School Food Service Employees in Gyeonggi-do and Incheon)

  • The Smart Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) management system, which integrates information technology (IT) to automate and analyze big data, has been introduced into school food services. This study investigated the job performance, job satisfaction, and job stress of employees in school food services using Smart HACCP. Data were collected via questionnaires from 350 employees in school food services who utilized Smart HACCP and worked in Gyeonggi-do or Incheon. The questionnaire included general information, workplace characteristics, HACCP education status, job performance, and job satisfaction according to the use of Smart HACCP, and general job stress. The responses showed that 92.3% of the participants had received HACCP education in the workplace, and 66.6% understood the content of the education. Among the HACCP process stages, CCP2 (Food Handling and Cooking) and CCP3 (Cooking Completion and Distribution) were the stages at which all participants were using Smart HACCP. CCP3 had the highest percentage (61.4%) of participants who experienced feeling the maximum reduction in their tasks by using Smart HACCP. The Smart HACCP job performance at CCP1 (Inspection) and Smart HACCP job satisfaction were higher in workplaces with 6~10 employees, compared to those with 10≤ employees (both P<0.05). The Smart HACCP job performances at of CP1 (Refrigeration and Freezer Temperature Management) and CP2 (Cleaning and Disinfection of Food Contact Surfaces) were significantly affected by the work area. General job stress was significantly higher in cooks than in cook practitioners, higher in employees with cook certification than in those without it, and higher in employees with work experience (<1 year), compared to those with 5~10 years or 10~15 years' experience. In conclusion, employees' job performance and satisfaction with Smart HACCP need to be enhanced to improve hygiene in school food service. This requires the effective management of their job stress.

  • 교육용 로봇은 과학의 기초 원리를 배우고 과학적 창의성을 키우는 것에 효과적인 교육 도구로 소개되면서 방과 후 학습에 적용되어 과학 교육을 위한 교육용 키트의 구성이 바뀌고 있다. 중소기업을 중심으로 과학적 창의성을 키우는 도구로서 다양한 교육용 로봇 기술과 학생들을 위한 다양한 범주의 게임로봇기술이 개발되고 있고, 기존의 mp3 음악이나 e-Learning 콘텐츠의 제공과 같이 로봇용 전문콘텐츠를 다운받아 학습에 활용하는 기술을 개발 중에 있으나 아직 전문 커뮤니티 형성이 미흡한 편이다. 현재는 사용자가 손쉽게 제어가 가능한 인터페이스 모듈용 모터가 개발이 되어있지 않아 1포인트 드래그 연동 스마트터치 제어용 다이나믹 모터 개발이 필요하다.

On strain measurement of smart GFRP bars with built-in fiber Bragg grating sensor

  • A smart glass fiber reinforced polymer (SMFRP) reinforcing bar with a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor was fabricated using a pultrusion technique, while ribs were formed to improve bonding between concrete and SMFRP. Then, strain of SMFRP bars were measured for a uniaxial tension test of an SMFRP bar, and a four-point bending test of concrete beams reinforced with SMFRP bars. The results of a uniaxial tension test illustrate that the strain obtained from an FBG sensor agrees well with that obtained from electrical resistance strain gauge (ERSG). Additionally, concrete beams reinforced with SMFRP bars were fabricated, and actual flexural test were performed while the strain of with an FBG sensor was compared with that of ERSG. The experimental results demonstrate that SMFRP bars can be used as reinforcement of concrete member while providing deformation information. Furthermore, SMFRP bars may provide stronger durability and smart monitoring to reinforced concrete members under corrosive environments during a service life.

  • This paper proposes the architecture and major functionalities of IT converged smart outdoor exercise equipment and health cashback system. It provides basic information such as date, time, weather information, and display the amount of exercise, thermal images for monitoring the change of user's body temperature and health cashback point. The amount of exercise is transferred to a health cashback server via mobile communication network and the server provides the exercise history and health cashback point. Also, as additional public services, a fine dust alarm light and an emergency alarm function are embedded. The proposed IT converged smart outdoor exercise equipment will be a reference model for studying and commercializing the next generation product.

CPB(Cold-Pad-Batch) 염색 패더롤 고무에서 화학적 노화로 인한 가속 수명예측 (Accelerated Life Prediction of CPB(cold-pad-batch) Padder Roll Rubber to Chemical Degradation)

  • In CPB(Cold-Pad-Batch) dyeing, the rubber of the padder roll is influenced by the heat, chemical and mechanical influences and thus aging of the padder roll rubber occurs. This study presents an accelerated thermal aging test of the CPB padder roll rubber with strong alkali conditions. Using Arrhenius formula of the various property values for the various aging temperatures($80^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$) of the padder roll, the accelerated life predictions could be calculated. The threshold value of the property was set at different values. The hardness was set at the point where 5% degradation occurs based on the actual use conditions, and the tensile strength was set at the point where 50% degradation occurs based on the general life prediction standards. From the results of the different physical properties at differing temperatures, the Arrhenius plot could be obtained. Through the usage of the Arrhenius Equation, significant duration expectation could be predicted, and the chemical aging behavior of the CPB padder roll could be found at the arbitrary and actual temperatures.

지능형 홈을 위한 사용자 식별 및 출입 감지 시스템 (User Identification and Entrance/Exit Detection System for Smart Home)

  • This paper presents a sensing system for smart home which can detect an location transition events such as entrance/exit of a member and identify the user in a group at the same time. The proposed system is compose of two sub-systems; a wireless sensor network system and a database server system. The wireless sensing system is designed as a star network where each of sensing modules with ultrasonic sensors and a Bluetooth RF module connect to a central receiver called Bluetooth access point. We propose a method to discriminate a user by measuring the height of the user. The differences in the height of users is a key feature for discrimination. At the same time, the each sensing module can recognize whether the user goes into or out a room by using two ultrasonic sensors. The server subsystem is a sort of data logging system which read the detected event from the access point and then write it into a database system. The database system could provide the location transition information to wide range of context-aware applications for smart home easily and conveniently. We evaluate the developed method with experiments for three subjects in a family with the installation of the developed system into a real house.
