Agrophotovoltaic (APV) system is an integrated system producing crops as well as solar energy. Because crop production underneath Photovoltaic (PV) modules requires delicate management of crops, smart farming equipment such as real-time remote monitoring sensors (e.g., soil moisture sensors) and micro-climate monitoring sensors (e.g., thermometers and irradiance sensors) is installed in the APV system. This study aims at introducing a decision support system (DSS) for smart farming in an APV system. The proposed DSS is devised to provide a mobile application service, satellite image processing, real-time data monitoring, and performance estimation. Particularly, the real-time monitoring data is used as an input of the DSS system for performance estimation of an APV system in terms of production yields of crops and monetary benefit so that a data-driven function is implemented in the proposed system. The proposed DSS is validated with field data collected from an actual APV system at the Jeollanamdo Agricultural Research and Extension Services in South Korea. As a result, farmers and engineers enable to efficiently produce solar energy without causing harmful impact on regular crop production underneath PV modules. In addition, the proposed system will contribute to enhancement of the smart farming technology in the field of agriculture.

This study was conducted to investigate policy priority with respect to development of a smart farming system. Professors, researchers and policy makers in related fields were surveyed to develop a long-term plan and improved direction for the smart farming system, and the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) was used for analysis. Overall, 61 experts in the frontiers of the field were surveyed and 42 questionnaires were analyzed. The results showed that the most important factors influencing development plans are increasing the income of farmers, minimizing management costs and standardizing and localizing smart farming systems. However, some plans differ with respect to economic and technology factors; therefore, those things should be analyzed in more detail by experts.
Purposes: This study was to validate the Robotic Smart Work System that can provides better working conditions and high productivity in unstructured environments like bio-industry, based on a tele-operation system for fruit harvesting with low cost 3-D positioning system on the laboratory level. Methods: For the Robotic Smart Work System for fruit harvesting and cultivation management in agriculture, a vision based tele-operating system and 3-D position information are key elements. This study proposed Robotic Smart Farming, an agricultural version of Robotic Smart Work System, and validated a 3-D position information system with a low cost omni camera and a laser marker system in the lab environment in order to get a vision based tele-operating system and 3-D position information. Results: The tasks like harvesting of the fixed target and cultivation management were accomplished even if there was a short time delay (30 ms ~ 100 ms). Although automatic conveyor works requiring accurate timing and positioning yield high productivity, the tele-operation with user's intuition will be more efficient in unstructured environments which require target selection and judgment. Conclusions: This system increased work efficiency and stability by considering ancillary intelligence as well as user's experience and knowhow. In addition, senior and female workers will operate the system easily because it can reduce labor and minimized user fatigue.

The standard of the greenhouse control system defines the components in applying IT technologies to a greenhouse and specifies the requirements and the architecture for the technological issues. The system collects information for the growth management of corps and can control the facilities promoting the optimal growth environments in greenhouse. This system includes the growth environment management service, the growth environment control service, and etc. In this paper, it is required to consider the actualized IT convergence case for agriculture, namely Smart Farming as a solution to cope the presented problems. In addition, suggest to standard functional model and standardization items for the smart farming based on network.
Smart farm dissemination by continuously developing IoT is one of the best solution for decreasing labor in Korea farming area because of ageing. For this reason, the number of Smart farm in Korea is being increased. The Smart farm can control farming environment such as temperature for human. Specially, The important thing is controlling proper temperature for farming. In order to control the temperature, legacy smart farms are usually using pans or air conditioners which can control the temperature. However, those devices result in increasing production cost because the electric power consumption is high. For this reason, we propose a smart farm which can predict the proper temperature after an hour by using Deep learning to minimize the electric power consumption by controlling window instead of pans or air conditioners. We can see the 83% of electric power saving by means of the proposed smart farm.

The paper aims making use of evolving technology i.e. IoT and smart agriculture using automation. The objective of this research paper to present tools and best practices for understanding the role of information and communication technologies in agriculture sector, motivate and make the illiterate farmers to understand the best insights given by the big data analytics using machine learning. The methodology used in this system can monitor the humidity, moisture level and can even detect motions. According to the data received from all the sensors the water pump, cutter and sprayer get automatically activated or deactivated. we investigate a remote monitoring system using Wi-Fi. These nodes send data wirelessly to a central server, which collects the data, stores it and will allow it to be analyzed then displayed as needed and can also be sent to the client mobile.
This paper presents the optimal design of a heating system using radiant heating elements for application in smart farms. Smart farming, an advanced agricultural technology, is based on artificial intelligence and the internet of things and promotes crop production. Temperature and humidity regulation is critical in smart farms, and thus, a heating system is essential. Radiant heating elements are devices that generate heat using electrical energy. Among other applications, radiant heating elements are used for environmental control and heating in smart farm greenhouses. The performance of these elements is directly related to their electrical energy consumption. Therefore, achieving a balance between efficient electrical energy consumption and maximum heating performance in smart farms is crucial for the optimal design of radiant heating elements. In this study, the size, electrical energy supply, heat generation efficiency, and heating performance of radiant heating elements used in these heating systems were investigated. The effects of the size and electrical energy supply of radiant heating elements on the heating performance were experimentally analyzed. As the radiant heating element size increased, the heat generation efficiency improved, but the electrical energy consumption also increased. In addition, increasing the electrical energy supply improved both the heat generation efficiency and heating performance of the radiant heating elements. Based on these results, a method for determining the optimal size and electrical energy supply of radiant heating elements was proposed, and it reduced the electrical energy consumption while maintaining an appropriate heating performance in smart farms. These research findings are expected to contribute to energy conservation and performance improvement in smart farming.
