  • Wearable computing is growing rapidly as research on body area communication network using wireless sensor network technology is actively conducted. In particular, there is an increasing interest in smart clothing measuring unrestrained and insensitive bio signals, and research is being actively conducted. However, research on smart clothing is mainly based on 1: 1 wireless communication. In this paper, we propose a multi-access monitoring system that can measure bio-signals by multiple users wearing smart clothing. The proposed system consists of wireless access device, multiple access control server and monitoring system. It also provides a service that allows multiple users to monitor and measure bio signals at the same time.

  • Plagiarism in which people use other people's works partially or in entirety as if they are their own and infringement on copyrights that frequently occur in various forms under smart device environment are becoming one of the crucial problems that need to be solved for Korea to become an advanced nation. This paper investigates and analyzes how college students, the heaviest user of smart devices under various smart device environment, are committing plagiarism and copyright infringement and suggest a basic education plan to prevent plagiarism and copyright infringement. College students have a very low awareness of plagiarism and copyrights and the level of violation associated with plagiarism and copyrights infringement they commit from elementary school to college were found to be at a serious level. It was demonstrated that the solution suggested in this paper to solve these problems would be effective in enhancing the awareness of the bad effect of plagiarism and copyrights infringement along with their side effects.

  • The Internet of things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computed devices, digital machines and any physical objects which are provided with unique identifiers and the potential to transmit data to people or machine (M2M) without requiring human interaction. IoT devices can be used to monitor and control the electrical and electronic systems used in different fields like smart home, smart city, smart healthcare and etc. In this study we introduce four imaginary IoT devices as a learning support assistants according to students' dominant learning styles measured by Honey and Mumford Learning Styles: Activists, Reflectors, Theorists and Pragmatists. This research emphasizes the association between students' strong learning styles and a preference to appropriate IoT devices with specific characteristics. Moreover, different levels of IoT devices' architecture are clearly explained in this study where all the artificial devices are designed based on this structure. Data analysis of experiment were measured by the use of chi square test for association and research results showed the statistical significance of the estimated model and the impacts of each category over the model where we finally got accurate estimates for our research variables. This study revealed the importance of considering the students' dominant learning styles before inventing a new IoT device.

  • Recently, it is issued that the big data collecting meaningless data, and then extracting meaningful data from analyzed relationship to provide various information for users. However, original data collecting methods have difficulty in collecting information Because they analyze data by using sensors installed at exterior and interior of buildings and information of users. In this paper, we develop a data collection application using smart phone to resolve this problem. Developed application transmits data about Wi-Fi and measured information such as temperature, humidity, acceleration, gyro to server through web. The data transmitted is used as a context inference for users. According to the inference result, it is possible to provide various services on user conditions.

  • In this study, we analyzed verbal interactions in small group science learning using smart devices by the level of prior achievement. Four heterogeneous groups at a coed high school in Seoul participated. Verbal interactions during small group science learning were audio- and video-taped, transcribed, and analyzed. Verbal interactions were analyzed at the levels of a turn and an interaction unit. The results revealed that the frequencies of verbal interactions were high in task category, especially at information explanation, information question, and reflection on standards subcategories. Furthermore, the frequencies of high-level students at direction explanation, reflection on standards and progress subcategories were higher than those of low-level students, and the frequencies of low-level students at direction question and information explanation subcategories were higher than their counterpart. In the analyses of the interaction units, the frequencies in symmetric elaborated interaction were high, especially at cumulative and evaluative subcategories.

  • This study aims to research the use of smart devices of infants and preschool children, and their mothers' perception about it. Moreover, the goal of this study is to collect preliminary data about problems from the use of smart devices, and to prevent the problems. Therefore, the questions of inquiry for this study are: 1. How do infants and preschool children use smart devices? 2. How do mothers perceive their children using smart devices? Four hundred and forty mothers, who send their child to a day-care center or kindergarten in Busan, participated in this research and data among 397 of them were analyzed using PASW 18.0 program. The answers to a multiple-choice question were converted into a frequency and percentage. To verify the difference of factors, Chi-squared Test and One-way Analysis of Variance methods were used. The following are findings of this study: 1. Most of the families owning smart devices allow their children to use a smart device when children want it, and children use it for entertainment purpose before their bedtime. Children start to use a smart device mostly around the age of 4. Compared to girls, boys spend a longer time on smart devices playing mobile game. In addition, the research indicated that the children of younger mothers tend to use smart devices in earlier ages than the children of elder mothers. 2. Mothers of preschool children have higher perception about the availability of their child using smart devices compare to the mothers of day-care center. However, the research showed that elder mothers have more positive perceptions about all the other five lower factors, (e.g. educational characteristic, entertainment characteristic, design, safety, and smart recognition).

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify whether self-directed fundamental nursing practice using a smart phone affected self-efficacy, practice satisfaction, and skill competency of nursing students. Methods: This was a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. The participants were 40 children in the experimental group and 40 in the control group. In experimental group, self-directed fundamental nursing practice using a smart phone was given to nursing students. Data for this study was collected from 25 March 2015 to 10 April 2015. The data were analyzed using SAS 21.0. Results: In self-efficacy and skill competency, there were no statistically significant differences between the experimental group and control group. In practice satisfaction, there were statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group. Conclusion: The results indicate that self-directed fundamental nursing practice using smartphone video is effective in practice satisfaction. Therefore, this intervention can be utilized in nursing practice education as an effective educational device.

  • In this study, the effects of the small group collaborative learning on students' achievement, the retention of the achievement, communication anxiety, and science learning motivation were investigated. The aptitude-treatment interaction between the level of students' self-directed learning ability and the intervention was also examined. Two classes (38 students) from an elementary school were respectively assigned to a control group and a treatment group. A self-directed learning ability test, a communication anxiety test, and a science learning motivation test were administered as pretests. The intervention lasted for 8 class periods. After instruction, an achievement test, the communication anxiety test, and the science learning motivation test were administered. An achievement retention test were also administered after four weeks. The results indicated that there were significant treatmentaptitude interaction effects in the achievement test scores and the achievement retention test scores. In the communication anxiety and the science learning motivation, however, any significant difference was not found between the scores of the treatment group and the control group. Educational implications are discussed.

  • Due to the rapid development of smart phones, smart phone users grew, expanding communication between the service users has been enabled by the application's service. Difficult to find a service that allows you to know the quality of school meals and the expectations of these applications. In addition, the existing application works only with a particular device, it is difficult to compatible devices. Thus, based on the HTML5 hybrid application were developed and this feed can be monitored by the students of the school, the communication can be formed.
