  • In Korea Small-medium Companies Constitutes 96.5% of all of the mining and manufacturing industries, about 35.7% of the total production of value added business, an average of 35% of the actual export of industrial goods and 47.6% of employment since present at the end of 1979. Now then Small-medium Industry Companies organization style constitutes 78.6% of a form of private company and 81.2% of the total on an small scale under 50 persons inregular employee. Specially, the trouble of business management of the mining and manufacturing Companies in Korea are constituted average 28.3% of production management ill the worst trouble of business management from 1973 to 1979 and small-medium industry Companies are the same of about more than 30% of production management in the trouble of business management. In this cases, the status of production management is effected by small-medium industry companies are the style of non-system and non-organization, but then 13parts in production management operations have the many trouble problems. In this circumstances a change for the better of production management operations in small medium industry companies are suggested the application effects and achievement points of production management, it is suggested a kind of variety and a small quantity, production management system of small-medium industry Company. And then Industrial Engineering technics is applied systematic route and the company grow more than better its physical condition for the improve productivity applied system approach for production management. • There are many factors affecting the development of sericultural industry in Korea. The setting of a rational pricing system for sericultural products is one of important activities of the Korean Government to improve the incentives to producers. The determination o: the prices for many years were based on the production costs including a certain level of profits. Some of cost items are in conflict both in cocoon producers and silk-reeling industries. Government officials have to evaluate these conflicting problems and estimate the consequences of their decisions. In this situation the final decision often became political decisions. This analysis is aimed at providing an alternative method of setting the prices of sericultural products. The criteria of the equilibrium employed in this analysis are based on economic principle which equilibrium condition is determined by the relationships between the marginal productivity of input factors and factor prices. In order to obtain the related information Cobb-Douglas'functions were fitted using KIST computer and data were obtained mostly from the Bank of Korea and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestru, An important assumption is that "Opportunity Costs" of factors input in both cocoon production and silk-Peeling industries are same, The major finding s obtained are as followings. 1) The sum of coefficient of production elastisity in silk-reeling industries is greater than one. Silk-reeling industries are operating under the situation of increasing return to scale and it is, therefore, expected to develop the industries as the capital-intensive large scale. 2) The cocoon producing farmers are under the situations of the decreasing return to scale and it is expected to continue their cocoon farming as the labor-intensive small scale, assuming the present level of production technology. As the development of commercial farming, the resources input in cocoon production will be shifted to the production for higher profitable crops, 3) The price elastisity of production is higher in cocoon production than in silk-reeling industries. It is expected that the price changing effects on domestic production will be resulted from cocoon producers. 4) Based on analysis results of marginal productivities and the opportunity costs of resources, cocoon price for meeting equilibrium price condition is to be increased by 8-16 percent or standard price level of silk increased by 6-8 percent. There were the possibilities of over evaluation on opportunity cost of resources input in silk-reeling industries, or income transfered from the farmers to the industries. It is recommended that the prices for meeting equilibrium price conditions are to be determined by 72 percent for cocoon and 28 percent for silk-reeling costs, based on standard level of the exporting prices.

  • In recent years, Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) Unit have attracted considerable attention. Generally, liquefied natural gas (LNG) units are produced in onshore liquefaction terminals from gas supplied from onshore gas fields or large-scale offshore gas fields near the coast. However, the development of these gas fields has approached saturation. Large-scale offshore gas fields far from the coast, as well as undeveloped medium- and small-scale offshore gas fields, have recently attracted attention. Among several proposed concepts, the floating LNG plant in the form of the FLNG system was chosen for further evaluation and development, considering worldwide receiving infrastructure. The design of a 2.5 million tonne per annum FLNG unit has been completed with a capacity corresponding to that of modern onshore liquefaction plants. Various simulation tests were performed to evaluate the performance of the electrical power plant, focusing on the efficiency of the electrical system to secure the aspects of plant safety. This design study analyzes the electrical system for the FLNG unit to improve the safety of operation and maintenance in the field.

  • Most of the small and medium industries rather focus on immediate problems and how to properly maintain organizational matters and existing system than the strategic and operational use of Information Technology when they deal with applications and operation of Information System. This study found out that there were few studies on IT outsourcing for small and medium companies in Korea compared to large enterprises' IT outsourcing. Most preceding studies researched the problems of partnership and technical, managerial, and economical success factors for big companies. Small and medium companies have the problems of financial difficulty, organizational scale (40.3%), shortage of manpower for system operation (24.1%), and lack of practical use of managers (8.9%). SMB firms have required support of government for their Informationalization but, we found out amount of companies (41%) not be informed or don't account on government's supporting IT of SMB programs. In addition, Range and Contents of outsourcing, Reputation of Outsourcing vendor, Reliability of maintaining were selected as CSFs of SMB IT outsourcing. While large corporation staff more considered CEO's willing and inner facts of their companies.

  • For the purpose of preparing the fundamental data on working environment of small scale manufacturing industries and preventing the occupational diseases of workers in these industries, authors surveyed the status of working environment to several chemical substances and physical agents by types of industry and types of process in the small scale manufacturing industries with less than five workers in Gimhae including 235 workplaces, 14 types of industry and 25 types of process from January 2002 to December 2004. This measurement method was work environment measurement method (established in Ministry of Labor, Korea), analytical methods (2nd Ed.) of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and manual of analytical methods (4th Ed.) of National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and collected data was analyzed by using SPSS 10.0 for windows, the results were as follows: 1. Noise generated in 14 types of industry and 22 types of process. an actual level of mean exposure (90.7 dB(A)) exceeded threshold limit values (TLVs) in manufacture of other transport equipment. An actual level of mean exposure (90.2dB) exceeded TLVs in the process of wire-drawing and 90.4dB in the process of wire-stranding. 2. Dusts of type I, II, III were generated in 9 types of industry and 8 types of process. Its mean concentration did not exceed TLVs. 3. Heavy metals (Pb, Mn, Cr, Ni) were generated in 7 types of industry and 7 types of process. Its mean concentration did not exceed TLVs. 4. 16 kinds of organic solvents were generated in 11 types of industry and 6 types of process. Its mean concentration did not exceed TLVs. As the above results, chemical substances and physical agents were generated in the several different types of industry and process of the manufacturing industry with less than five workers, and only mean level of noise was exceeded TLVs. In case of exceeding threshold limit values, improvement of work environment is actively needed, and work environment management should be performed continuously for prevention of an occupational diseases and work related diseases.

  • For liquid rocket engine(LRE)-based space launch vehicles, longitudinal instability, often referred to as the pogo phenomenon in the literature is predicted. In the building block of system-level task, accurate dynamic modeling of a fluid-filled tank is an essential. This paper attempts to apply the virtual mass method that accounts for the interaction of the vehicle structure and the enclosed liquid oxygen to LOX-filled tanks. The virtual mass method is applied in a modal analysis considering the hydroelastic effect of the launch vehicle tank. This method involves an analysis of the fluid in the tank in the form of mass matrix. To verify the accuracy of this method, the experimental modal data of a small hemispherical tank is used. Finally, the virtual mass method is applied to a 1/8-scale space shuttle external tank. In addition, the LOX tank bottom pressure in the external tank model is estimated. The LOX tank bottom pressure is the factor required for the coupling of the LOX tank with the propulsion system. The small hemispherical tank analysis provides relatively accurate results, and the 1/8-scale space shuttle external tank provides reasonable results. The LOX tank bottom pressure is also similar to that in the numerical results of a previous analysis.

  • This is a study of a long term project to encourage the Korean fishing industry. It seeks to supply a sound theoretical background in an attempt to liberalize the capital investment of the industry. However, the discussions developed in this thesis are based on, the existing world's fisheries resources, the possibility of their prospective cultivation, and the analysis of the evolution of Korean fisheries and fisheries organization. According to the reasults of the analysis ; out of the prospective world fisheries resources which are estimated at about 200 millions m/t the total yield per year is only about 70 millions m/t (1969), and Korea occupies only 850 thousands m/t. This therefore means that the Korean fishing industry allows much room for further growth. But the purpose of Korea's existing fishing industry organizations is entirely directed toword coastal fisheries and their functions never reache beyond the limit of off-shore fisheries. Thus almost 99% of the fisheries population engage in small scale fisheries along the coast line. The result is that the resource are almost exhausted by such over-exploitation. Being faced by this fact, it is of urgent necessity to modernize the management of fisheries as well as to encourage larger scale management of fisheries industries. This should be accompanied by the liberalization of capital investment. For this purpose this study also recommends the unification or annexation of small organizations to establish larger ones that will function for a larger scale industry. and further this study recommends that, in order to reorganize the existing fisheries organizations, a principle of selection should be applied in the areas of (1) maximum sustainable yields, (2) the possibility of forming an enterprise and (3) the maintenance of organization stability.
