  • A new efficient method for GaAs MESFET model parameter extraction is proposed, which is based on the bias dependance of each parameter characteristics derved from the analytic model. The requiremnts of the method are only small-signal S-parameter measurements under the three bias variations. Fixation of the linear model parameter values in the optimization process is made using the sensitivity information of the model parameter obtained by the weighted Broyden update method, it is to improve the uniqueness and reliablility of the solution. The validity of the extracted values of the FET model parameters is confirmed by comparing the simulation results with the experimental data.

  • In small signal stability analysis of power systems, eigenvalue analysis is the most useful method and the detailed modeling of generator gives an important effect to the eigenvalues. Generator full model is used for precise dynamic analysis of generators and controllers while two-axis model is used for multimachine systems because of the reduced order of the state matrix. Also, the eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients are used for optimization of controller parameters to improve system stability. This paper compare the first order eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients of controllers in case of generator full model with those of two-axis model. As a result of an example the estimated eigenvalues using sensitivity coefficients in case of generator full model is very close to those of state matrix within 1% error ratios.

  • Negative output elementary super lift Luo converter (NOESLLC), which has the significant advantages including high-voltage transfer gain, high efficiency, high power density, and reduced output voltage/inductor current ripples when compared to the traditional DC-DC converters, is an attractive DC-DC converter for the field of negative DC voltage applications. In this study, in consideration of the voltage across the energy transferring capacitor changing abruptly at the beginning of each switching cycle, the improved averaged model of the NOESLLC operating in continuous conduction mode (CCM) is established. The improved DC model and transfer functions of the system are derived and analyzed. The current mode control is applied for this NOESLLC. The results from the theoretical calculations, the PSIM simulations and the circuit experiments show that the improved DC model and transfer functions here are more effective than the existed ones of the NOESLLC to describe its real dynamical behaviors.

  • The main steam line break accident is an essential initiating event of the pressurized water reactor. In present work, the fuzzy set theory and the signal-based fault detection method has been used to detect the occurrence and diagnosis of the location and break area for the small scale MSLB. The models are validated by the AP1000 accident simulator based on MAAP5. From the test results it can be seen that the proposed approach has a rapid and proper response on accident detection and location diagnosis. The method proposed to evaluate the break area shows good performances for small scale MSLB with the relative deviation within ±3%.

  • When a active sonar signal is transmitted and returned back from a target, it has been distorted by various properties of acoustic channel such as multipath arrivals. And signals have been appeared to be different form by target position and attitude. Therefore, we simulated the target echo signal using 3 dimensional target model include reflects target features. In this paper, we develop components form of a simulated target model is made up equally spaced highlight points, and each part of the target consists of shape function. We can simulate a target echo signal and Target strength (TS) according to wave incident angle. To verify, we made small scale target in kit form and we had got underwater target signal for comparing simulation result in water tank.

  • ECG(electrocardiogram) is used to measure the rate and regularity of heartbeats, as well as the size and position of the chambers, the presence of any damage to the heart, and the cause of all heart diseases can be found. Because the ECG signal obtained using the ECG-KIT includes noise in the ECG signal, noise must be removed from the ECG signal to apply to the deep learning. In this paper, Noise included in the ECG signal was removed by using a lowpass filter of the Digital FIR Hamming window function. When the performance evaluation of the three activation functions, sigmoid(), ReLU(), and tanh() functions, which was confirmed that the activation function with the smallest error was the tanh() function, the elapsed time was longer when the batch size was small than large. Also, it was confirmed that result of the performance evaluation for the GRU model was superior to that of the LSTM model.

  • This paper deals with a system that is capable of recognizing hand-signals in 3-dimensional space. The system uses 2 color cameras as input devices. Vision-based gesture recognition system is known to be user-friendly because of its contact-free characteristic. But as with other applications using a camera as an input device, there are difficulties under complex background and varying illumination. In order to detect hand region robustly from a input image under various conditions without any special gloves or markers, the paper uses previous position information and adaptive hand color model. The paper defines a hand-signal as a combination of two basic elements such as 'hand pose' and 'hand trajectory'. As an extensive classification method for hand pose, the paper proposes 2-stage classification method by using 'small group concept'. Also, the paper suggests a complementary feature selection method from images from two color cameras. We verified our method with a hand-signal application to our driving simulator.

  • The practical design methodology of a three-phase dual active bridge (3ph-DAB) converter applied to low voltage direct current (LVDC) applications is proposed by using a mathematical model based on the steady-state operation. An analysis of the small-signal model (SSM) is important for the design of a proper controller to improve the stability and dynamics of the converter. The proposed lead-lag controller for the 3ph-DAB converter is designed with a simplified SSM analysis including an equivalent series resistor (ESR) for the output capacitor. The proposed controller can compensate the effects of the ESR zero of the output capacitor in the control-to-output voltage transfer function that can cause high-frequency noises. In addition, the performance of the power converter can be improved by using a controller designed by a SSM analysis without additional cost. The accuracy of the simplified SSM including the ESR zero of the output capacitor is verified by simulation software (PSIM). The design methodology of the 3ph-DAB converter and the performance of the proposed controller are verified by experimental results obtained with a 5-kW prototype 3ph-DAB converter.

  • A few years ago, the plasmon-induced electronic coupling (PIEC) model was proposed in the literature to explain small changes in the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) in nanogap systems. If this model is correct, it will be very helpful in both basic and application fields. In light of this, we carefully reexamined its appropriateness. Poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) used in the earlier work was, however, never a proper layer, since most adsorbates not only adsorbed onto Ag nanoparticles sitting on P4VP but also penetrated into the P4VP layer deposited initially onto a flat Ag substrate, ultimately ending up in the SERS hot sites. Using 1,4-phenylenediisocyanide and 4-nitrophenol as the affixing layer and the foreign adsorbate, respectively, we could clearly reveal that the PIEC model is not suited for explaining the Raman signal in a nanogap system. Most of the Raman signal must have arisen from molecules situated at the gap center.

  • Generally, wavelet coefficients can be classified into two categories: large coefficients with much signal information and small coefficients with little signal component. This statistical characteristic of wavelet coefficient is approximated to Gaussian mixture model and efficiently applied to noise reduction. In this paper, we propose an image denoising method using mixture modeling of wavelet coefficients. Binary mask value is generated by proper threshold which classifies wavelet coefficients into two categories. Information of binary mask value is used to remove image noise. We also develope an enhancement method of mask value using morphological filter, and apply it to image denoising for improvement of the proposed method. Simulation results shows the proposed method have better PSNRs than those of the state of art denoising methods.
