This paper describes the application of sliding mode control based on the variable structure control(VSC) concept for high-performance position control of an induction servo motor A design method based on external load parameters has been developed for the robust control of AC induction servo drive. Also, a slip frequency vector control with software current control technique has been adopted to achieve fast response of an induction motor drive The position control scheme is comprised of a variable structure controller and slip frequency vector control for inverter fed induction servo motor. Simulated results are given to verify the proposed design method by adoption of sliding mode and show robust control for a change of shaft inertia, viscous friction and torque disturbance.
A friction-type clutch system sometimes generates spick-slip vibration during engagement, which disturbs smooth start of a car and makes a passenger uncomfortable. In this study, the spick-slip vibration in four types of friction couples was investigated at two different engagement conditions respectively of which the amount of slip time and clutch travel was varied. Results are found as follows. First, the vibration increased at the condition of small engine torque and large torque fluctuations due to higher harmonics of engine speed. Second, the friction couple without a pre-damper has advantages of reducing the vibration. This study also suggested an evaluation method of vehicle vibration in the view point of human perception by using the frequency weighting of ISO2631-1.
This paper presents a vector control of Linear Induction Motor(LIM) based on a slip frequency control. And a Linear Induction Motor modeling included the end effect using circuit and equation method is also presented. We demonstrated through simulation the improvements achieved by the proposed scheme.
In this research, fretting tests were conducted in air to investigate the wear characteristics of fuel cladding materials with the fretting parameters such as normal load, slip amplitude, frequency and the number of cycles. A high frequency fretting wear tester was designed for this experiment by KAERI. After the experiments, the wear volume and the shape of wear contour were measured by the surface roughness tester. Tribologically transformed structures(TTS) were analysed by means of optical and scanning electron microscopes to identify the main wear mechanisms. The results of this study showed that the wear volume were increased with increasing slip amplitude, and the shape of wear contour was transformed V-type to W-type. Also, it was found that the critical slip amplitude was 168${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. These phenomena mean that wear mechanism transformed partial slip to gross slip to accelerate wear volume. The wear depth increased with an increase of friction coefficient due to increase of normal load and frequency. The fretting wear mechanisms were believed that, after adhesion and surface plastic deformation occurred by relative sliding motion on the contact between two specimens, TTS creation was induced by surface strain hardening and wear debris were detached from the contact surface which were produced by the micro crack propagation and creation.
For the purpose of fast response and simplifing system angle control strategy is selected. And the analysis and dynamic performance of a slip frequency controlled current source inverter fed induction motor drive with stator frequency compensation (indirect torque angle control) is investigated. The current control loop including motor is modeled and speed control loop including the frequency compensation is analysed. And transfer function of overal system is simplified. Experimental results are given in support of the analytical procedure.
This paper derives a condition foe constant voltage i constant frequency generation of doubly-fed induction generator. The condition is varied by the magnitude of output voltage, load current and its power factor, slip of the machine. Magnitude of output voltage is controlled by exiting voltage which is caculated by derived equation from operating condition. frequency of output voltage is controlled by injecting slip frequency to the rotor which is the difference between wanted output frequency and rotor frequency.
This paper represents an ultra precision rotational device where the smooth impact drive mechanism (SIDM) is utilized as driving mechanism. Linear motions of piezoelectric elements are converted to the rotational motion of disk by frictional forces generated between the rotational disk and the friction part that is attached to the piezoelectric element. This device was designed to drive the rotational disk using slip-slip motion mechanism instead of stick-slip motion mechanism occurred in conventional impact drive mechanism. Experimental results show that the angular velocity is increased in proportion to the magnitude and frequency of supplied voltage to piezoelectric element and decreased as the preload is increased. In our device, the smooth rotational motion was obtained when the driving frequency has been reached to 500Hz under the driving voltage of 100V.
In this paper, the method to improve the efficiency of an induction motor at light load is discussed. Efficiency of induction motor can be very substantially improved by keeping the slip frequency as constant. Therefore, to simplify the control loop, algorithm which maintain constant slip frequency and control the input voltage is adopted. Simplified high efficiency drive of induction motor using PLL technique is suggested. In order to verify the validity of this system, the test results are compared with those obtained by optimal slip drive system and then we found closer to the optimal efficiency. For example its efficiency is improved from 18[%] to 42[%] at a few fraction of the full load (20[%]).

In order to ensure the high-integrity of reference stations of satellite navigation system, cycle slip should be precisely monitored and compensated. In this paper, we proposed a cycle slip algorithm for the integrity monitoring of the reference stations. Unlike the legacy method using the Melbourne-Wübbena (MW) combination and ionosphere combination, the proposed algorithm is based on ionosphere combination only, which uses high precision carrier phase observations without pseudorange observations. Two independent and complementary ionosphere combinations, Ionospheric Negative (IN) and Ionospheric Positive (IP), were adopted to avoid insensitive cycle slip pairs. In addition, a second-order time difference was applied to the IN and IP combinations to minimize the influence of ionospheric and tropospheric delay even under severe atmosphere conditions. Then, the cycle slip was detected by the thresholds determined based on error propagation rules, and the cycle slip was identified through weighted least square method. The performance of the proposed cycle slip algorithm was validated with the 1 Hz dual-frequency carrier phase data collected under the difference levels of ionospheric activities. For this experiment, 15 insensitive cycle slip pairs were intentionally inserted into the raw carrier phase observations, which is difficult to be detected with the traditional cycle slip approach. The results indicate that the proposed approach can successfully detect and compensate all of the inserted cycle slip pairs regardless of ionospheric activity. As a consequence, the proposed cycle slip algorithm is confirmed to be suitable for the reference station where real time high-integrity monitoring is crucial.
Fretting is a kind of surface degradation mechanism observed in mechanical components and structures. When two pieces of materials, pressed together by an external static load, are subjected to a transverse cyclic loading or various vibrations, so that one contacting face is relatively displaced cyclically parallel to the other face, wear of the mating surfaces occurs. These fretting damages may be observed in electrical connectors for automotive components, where there are special environments and various vibration conditions. This study aims to evaluate the usefulness of fretting test equipment that was developed for reliability test of electrical connector. Fretting tests were carried out using tin coated connectors and friction force, contact resistance, contact area and roughness of contact region were investigated. The following results that will be helpful to understand the fretting wear mechanism, increase process the contact resistance and contact area were obtained. (1) In the same frequency and slip amplitude, the friction force, roughness and contact area increased rapidly until about $10^3$ cycles, after which it was slightly changed. (2) In the various frequency and slip amplitude, the contact area increased with slip amplitude and cyclic numbers, but it did not depend on cyclic frequency. (3) The surface roughness of contact region did not depend on the cyclic frequency. From these results, the applicability of the fretting wear test equipment and reliability of connector were discussed.
