  • The fabrication of micro-size patterning on alumina substrate is generated by laser direct writing, which has high precision and selectivity of various laser beam energies. The depth and width of patterns is affected by laser parameter such as laser power, scan rate. Through the chemical and mechanical polishing Pd seeds was effectively got rid of alumina substrate for selectivity electroless Ni plating. Thermal treatment is good method for changing electrical property of conductor line, because the treatment can control of the grain size.

  • Harvest control rules have been recently developed for some fisheries in Indonesia, including grouper fisheries, and are expected to reverse the trend of declining stocks. One of the proposed options of the harvest control rules is to implement the catch size limit. The catch size limit approach, however, is challenging, unless it is supported also with strong fisheries surveillance, law enforcement, and innovation. The catch size limit approach can be done by implementing changes in fishing methods and gear, including the application of different hook sizes in the hook and line fishing gear. This study examines the impact of different hook sizes on the length at first capture (Lc) and on the bell-shaped maximum selectivity using various selectivity models of the two targeted grouper species (Plectropomus leopardus and Plectropomus maculatus) in the Saleh bay, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. We found that increasing hook size influences the grouper's catch size, increasing the Lc and the bell-shaped maximum selectivity of both species. Based on our findings, hook size can be used as one of the practical tools for grouper management measures, as part of harvest control rules to improve grouper stock in Indonesia.

  • Finely-striate buccinum Buccinum striatissimum, a species of whelks, is caught mainly by pot in the eastern coastal waters of Korea. In order to determine the size selectivity of pot for the species, comparative fishing experiments were conducted near Yeongil Bay from June to September in 2003 using the dome-shaped pots with different five mesh sizes (17.1, 24.8, 35.3, 39.8, and 48.3 mm). The parameters of logistic equation were estimated by the SELECT (Share Each Length's Catch Total) method based on a multinomial distribution. The model with the estimated split parameter was found to fit the catch data best. The master selection curve was estimated to be s (R)=exp (13.044R-16.438)/[1 + exp (13.044R-16.438)], where R is the ratio of shell height to mesh size. The relative shell height of 50% retention was 1.260, and the selection range was 0.168. Enlargement in mesh size of the pot allows more small-sized whelks to escape.

  • Test fishing was carried out to examine the selectivity of the mesh size in trammel net for tonguefish (Cynoglossidae spp.) from May to August, 1999 and a total of 30 times of test fishing have been done in the coastal waters around Dolsando, Yosu, South Chunra province, Korea. A gill net and a trammel net which were composed of three different mesh sizes (70.5mm, 86.6mm and 101mm) were used for the experiment. The selectivity curve of mesh size was estimated by Kitahara's method for Robust tonguefish (Cynoglossus robustus). The results obtained are summarized as follows ; 1. Catching efficiency of the trammel net (70.5mm-sized-lint main net) was 39.0% and it was 2.5 times higher than 15.8% for the gill net. 2. The optimum l/m value of the trammel net was 3.51 and it was 0.13 higher than 3.38 for the gill net. 3. The selectivity of trammel net was similar to that of the gill net for low length-class. However, the selectivity of trammel net was not good compared with that of the gill net for high length-class. The 50% selectivity was 1.33 for the trammel net and 0.83 for the gill net. According to the experimental results, fishing efficiency of the trammel net was better than that of the gill net for tonguefish (Cynoglossidae spp.) and it was known that catch length for targeted species could be selected by controlling the mesh size.

  • To investigate the food organisms and feeding selectivity of the white croaker (Argrosomus argentatus) during the postlarval stage, the gut contents of the postlarvae, captured in Kwangyang Bay in 1995, were observed, The food organisms were composed of copepod egg and nauplius, Codonellopsis sp. and Tintinnopsis spp. The indices of relative importance indicated that the most dominant food item was a copepod nauplius. As white croaker larvae grew, the size of prey items and the selectivity for copepod nauplius increased.

  • Recently, STI(Shallow Trench Isolation) process has attracted attention for high density of semiconductor device as a essential isolation technology. In this paper, the effect of pattern density, trench width and selectivity of slurry on dishing in STI CMP process was investigated by using specially designed isolation pattern. As trench width increased, the dishing tends to increase. At $20{\mu}m$ pattern size, the dishing was decreased with increasing pattern density Low selectivity slurry shows less dishing at over $160{\mu}m$ trench width, whereas high selectivity slurry shows less dishing at below $160{\mu}m$ trench width.

  • In this study, we prepared non-porous plasma membrane for having high permeability and selectivity and this membrane was deposited on the $Al_{2}O_{3}$ membrane by using $CHF_{3}$ & $SiH_{4}$ monomer. Also, we investigated for the permeation characteristics of the plasma polymer membrane by Ar plasma treatment. When the position of substrate was near cathode, the selectivity was increased with Ar plasma treatment time and rf-power. The pore size of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ membrane had an effect on the permeability and the position of substrate affected selectivity.

  • Molecularly imprinted polymeric microbeads (MIPMs) were prepared by the suspension and modified suspension polymerization methods using D-phenylalanine as the template, methacrylic acid as the functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the cross-linker, toluene as the porogen, polyvinyl alcohol as the stabilizer, and sodium dodecyl sulfate as the surfactant. The addition of a surfactant to the conventional suspension polymerization mixture decreased the mean particle size of the MIPMs and increased the adsorption selectivity. For the modified suspension polymerization method, the mean particle size of the MIPMs was smaller than the particle size of MIPMs prepared via conventional suspension polymerization. Moreover, the adsorption selectivity improved considerably compared to the adsorption selectivities of MIPs reported previously.

  • Fishing experiments were carried out in the adjacent sea of Yeongil Bay, the eastern cost of Korea from 2003 to 2004 using the dome-shaped pots with different five mesh sizes (17.1, 24.8, 35.3, 39.8, and 48.3mm) in order to determine the size selectivity of pots for the whelk, Buccinum opisthoplectum. The catch species were composed of Buccinum opisthoplectum (45.4%), Buccinum striatissimum (30.1%), Pandalopsis japonica (9.3%), Chionoecetes opilio (8.9%), and so on. The shell height (l) of Buccinum opisthoplectum caught in the experimental fishing pots was measured. The SELECT (Share Each Length's Catch Total) analysis method was applied with fishing data to obtain master selection curve. The model with the estimated split parameter was found to fit the catch data best. The master selection curve was estimated to be s (R)〓exp (7.833R-10.871)/[1 + exp (7.833R-10.871], where R is the ratio of shell height to mesh size. The relative shell length for 50% retention was 1.388, and the selection range was 0.281. It means that the pots of larger mesh size allow more whelks of small size to escape.
