A comparison of analytical approaches for Levoglucosan ($C_6H_{10}O_5$, commonly formed from the pyrolysis of carbohydrates such as cellulose) and used for a molecular marker in biomass burning is made between the four different analytical systems. 1) Spectrothermography technique as the evaluation of thermograms of carbon using Elemental Carbon & Organic Carbon Analyzer, 2) mass spectrometry technique using Gas Chromatography/mass spectrometer (GC/MS), 3) Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS) for the identification of the particle size distribution and chemical composition, and 4) two dimensional Gas Chromatography with Time of Flight mass spectrometry (GC${\times}$GC-TOFMS) for defining the signature of Levoglucosan in terms of chemical analytical process. First, a Spectrothermography, which is defined as the graphical representation of the carbon, can be measured as a function of temperature during the thermal separation process and spectrothermographic analysis. GC/MS can detect mass fragment ions of Levoglucosan characterized by its base peak at m/z 60, 73 in mass fragment-grams by methylation and m/z 217, 204 by trimethylsilylderivatives (TMS-derivatives). AMS can be used to analyze the base peak at m/z 60.021, 73.029 in mass fragment-grams with a multiple-peak Gaussian curve fit algorithm. In the analysis of TMS derivatives by GC${\times}$GC-TOFMS, it can detect m/z 73 as the base ion for the identification of Levoglucosan. It can also observe m/z 217 and 204 with existence of m/z 333. Although the ratios of m/z 217 and m/z 204 to the base ion (m/z 73) in the mass spectrum of GC${\times}$GC-TOFMS lower than those of GC/MS, Levoglucosan can be separated and characterized from D (-) +Ribose in the mixture of sugar compounds. At last, the environmental significance of Levoglucosan will be discussed with respect to the health effect to offer important opportunities for clinical and potential epidemiological research for reducing incidence of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.
The stability of the designed rock slope is analysed based on two kinds of shear strength model. Besides the deterministic analysis, a probabilistic approach on Monte Carlo simulation is proposed to deal with the uncertain characteristics of the discontinuity and the results obtained from two models are compared to each other. To carry out the research of characteristics of the discontinuity, BIPS, DOM Scanline survey data and direct shear test data are used, and chi-square test is used for determining the probability distribution function. The rock slope is evaluated to be stable in the deterministic analysis, but in the probabilistic analysis, the probability of failure is more than 5%, so, it is considered that the rock slope is unstable. In the shear strength models, the probability of the failure based on the Mohr-Coulomb model(linear model) is higher than that of the Barton model. It is supported by the fact that the Mohr-Coulomb model is more sensitive to block size than the Barton model. In fact, there is no reliable way to estimate the unit cohesion of the Mohr-Coulomb model except f3r back analysis and in the case of small block failure in the slope, Mohr-Coulomb model may excessively evaluate the factor of the safety. So, the Barton model of which parameters are easily acquired using the geological survey is more reasonable for the stability of the studied slope. Also, the selection of the proper shear strength model is an important factor for slope failure analysis.
Structures show the phehomena of deformation and lowering of function with time-lapse by artificial environments and changes of geotechnical conditions or accumulation of initial deformation elements. This study aims the structural assessment of cultural property, Chum-Sung-Dae, located in Kyeongju city, Korea. It was built about 1,300 years ago, and has undergone deformation and ground-subsidence with time-lapse. Non-destructive evaluation techniques were applied to the Chum-Sung-Dae, to protect it from survey Because of this reason, 3D precise laser scanning surveying system was applied to measure the exact size of Chum-Sung-Dae, displacement and declining angles. Geophysical exploration also was applied to study the subsurface distribution of geotechnical parameters or physical properties. Natural frequencies were measured from real and model of Chum-Sung-Dae to study the dynamic characteristics of vibration and/or earthquake load and stiffness of structures.
Because the basic assumptions of deterministic user equilibrium assignment that all network users have perfect information of network condition and determine their routes without errors are known to be unrealistic, several stochastic assignment models have been proposed to relax this assumption. However. it is not easy to solve such stochastic assignment models due to the probability distribution they assume. Also. in order to avoid all path enumeration they restrict the number of feasible path set, thereby they can not preciously explain the travel behavior when the travel cost is varied in a network loading step. Another problem of the stochastic assignment models is stemmed from that they use heuristic approach in attaining optimal moving size, due to the difficulty for evaluation of their objective function. This paper presents a logit-based stochastic assignment model and its solution algorithm to cope with the problems above. We also provide a stochastic user equilibrium condition of the model. The model is based on path where all feasible paths are enumerated in advance. This kind of method needs a more computing demand for running the model compared to the link-based one. However, there are same advantages. It could describe the travel behavior more exactly, and too much computing time does not require than we expect, because we calculate the path set only one time in initial step Two numerical examples are also given in order to assess the model and to compare it with other methods.
This study was carried out in order to investigate dextran formation and internal structure during fermentation of the oligosaccharide Jeung-Pyun. The dextran and sugar reducing contents of Jeung-Pyun batter and the specific volume and the internal structure of Jeung-Pyun were analyzed as a function of fermentation time. The specific volume of Jeung-Pyun peaked at the 7th hour of fermentation. The dextran content of Jeung-Pyun batters peaked at the 7~13th hour of fermentation, and Fructooligosaccharide Jeung-Pyun had the least peak value. Reducing sugar content of Jeung-Pyun batters slowly decreased as fermentation progressed. From the air pore size and distribution of Jeung-Pyun observed by SEM, the sucrose Jeung-Pyun fermented for 3~7 hours and oligosaccharide one fermented for 7 hours were judged as the best. It was concluded that dextran may be formed by fermentation of oligosaccharides as well as sucrose and dextran has a significant role on the volume expansion of Jeung-Pyun.

This study investigates the response of a typhoon model to the change of the sea surface temperature (SST) throughout the model integration. The SST change is parameterized as a formulae of which the magnitude is given as a function of not only the intensity and the size but the moving speed of tropical cyclone. The formulae is constructed by referring to many previous observational and numerical studies on the SST cooling with the passage of tropical cyclones. Since the parameterized cooling formulae is based on the mathematical expression, the resemblance between the prescribed SST cooling and the observed one during the period of the numerical experiment is not complete nor satisfactory. The agreements between the prescribed and the observed SST even over the swath of the typhoon passage differ from case to case. Numerical experiments are undertaken with and without prescribing the SST cooling. The results with the SST cooling do not show clear evidence in improving the track prediction compared to those of the without-experiments. SST cooling in the model shows its swath along the incomplete simulated track so that the magnitude and the distribution of the sea surface cooling does not resemble completely with the observed one. However, we have observed a little improvement in the intensity prediction in terms of the central pressure of the tropical cyclone in some cases. In case where the model without the SST treatment is not able to yield a correct prediction of the filling of the tropical cyclone especially in the decaying stage, the pulling effect given by the SST cooling alleviates the over-deepening of the model so that the central pressure approaches toward the observed value. However, the opposite case when the SST treatment makes the prediction worse may also be possible. In general when the sea surface temperature is reduced, the amount of the sensible and the latent heat from the ocean surface become also reduced, which results in the weakening of the storms comparing to the constant SST case. It turns out to be the case also in our experiments. The weakening is realized in the central pressure, maximum wind, horizontal temperature gradient, etc.

Natural lakes are estimated in variety with that's function or value depending on age environment or geographical characteristics. There are many kind of natural lakes, but the kind of natural lake is limited in rivers in korea flowing into East Sea. However, Yeonho lake in Uljin has different geographical characteristics with oxbow lake or lagoon which is common in korea's river flowing into East Sea. Therefore the purpose of this study is to analyze geographical characteristics due to the process of Yeonho's formation. Further more research for protecting wetland is needed to adequately preserve, depending on the geomorpologic process. To analyze geographical characteristics, it was essential to compare and analyze topographical map of 1918 1956 2012 and I pictured estinated line of bedrock and longitudinal section of Nam-dae cheon(Riv) Yeonho cheon(Riv). In addition, I denoted flooded areas through design flood level of Nam-dae cheon(Riv) Yeonho cheon(Riv) and analyzed particle size distribution of deposited sediment due to consider deposit environment. The results of study are as follows. In conclusion, Yeonho lake is floodbasin which was not researched at river flowing into East Sea. Through this study, my opinion is that floodbasin can be formed in the river that is steep and short. I argue that preservation methods will be seeked by geomorphologic process of floodbasin and development of downtown.
Polycrystalline $Sr_{2}Nb_{2}O_{7}$ and $La_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}$ ceramics with very high Curie temperatures were synthesized by the chemical coprecipitation method (CCP). The powders synthesized were identified by XRD and their sintering behavior and physical properties were studied. The grain-orientation and electrical properties of sintered ceramics were investigated as a function of firing temperature. Single phase could be obtained by CCP method at temperature lower than that of the conventional method by 100 - $150^{\circ}C$. Strontium niobate, $Sr_{2}Nb_{2}O_{7}$, powder was Prepared by CCP method at temperatures as low as $800^{\circ}C$ via intermediate phase of $Sr_{5}Nb_{4}O_{15}$ formed at $700^{\circ}C$. The resulting CCP-derived powder was observed to have finer and more uniform particle size distribution than those obtained through the conventional or the molten salt synthesis method. Sintering of CCP-derived $Sr_{2}Nb_{2}O_{7}$ powder at $1500^{\circ}C$ yielded a highly dense ceramics with 97% theoretical density. Very high grain-orientation developed along the (0k0) direction was observed by SEM, which resulted in anisotropic dielectric properties of the sintered samples, with the dielectric constant values approaching those for single crystal.

Due to spatial problems and system size, conventional measurement methods used to acquire the information needed for existing electrical energy and management have been limited to new buildings or areas where replacement is possible. This electric load management method is problematic when applying it to energy and safety management of vulnerable areas or existing homes or offices. The problem with installing a measurement module in every branch is that the system is too large. Even if the measurement module is installed, the type of load is not recognized, and efficient management is not performed. In particular, it is very difficult to apply it to traditional markets and backward facilities in Korea. In this paper, we apply NIALM technology and arc detection technology to solve these problems and verify the feasibility of NIALM for normal arc generation. Also, based on the verification results, we propose a new smart home safety management system that can effectively manage electrical safety and that can be applied to conventional market and existing home safety management systems. The proposed system conducts a comparative performance test with an existing safety management system. In addition, it achieves 95% or more load recognition for four loads, which is impossible in 40% of the existing systems, and the arc detection function was confirmed.
A lot of work has been done to reduce disk access time in I/O intensive systems, which store and handle massive amount of data, by distributing data across multiple disks and accessing them in parallel. Most of the previous work has focused on an efficient mapping from a grid cell to a disk number on the assumption that data space is regular grid-like partitioned. Although we can achieve good performance for low-dimensional data by grid-like partitioning, its performance becomes degenerate as grows the dimension of data even with a good disk allocation scheme. This comes from the fact that they partition entire data space equally regardless of distribution ratio of data objects. Most of the data in high-dimensional space exist around the surface of space. For that reason, we propose a new declustering algorithm based on the partitioning scheme which partition data space from the surface. With an unbalanced partitioning scheme, several experimental results show that we can remarkably reduce the number of data blocks touched by a query as grows the dimension of data and a query size. In this paper, we propose disk allocation schemes based on the layout of the resultant data blocks after partitioning. To show the performance of the proposed algorithm, we have performed several experiments with different dimensional data and for a wide range of number of disks. Our proposed disk allocation method gives a performance within 10 additive disk accesses compared with strictly optimal allocation scheme. We compared our algorithm with Kronecker sequence based declustering algorithm, which is reported to be the best among the grid partition and mapping function based declustering algorithms. We can improve declustering performance up to 14 times as grows dimension of data.
