Situational and Verbal Irony, and Paradox Revisited

  • This paper revisits some old issues of irony, i.e., situational vs. verbal irony, and irony vs. paradox, in order to further clarify the issues. Although these issues seem to have been fully discussed, there are still unresolved and/or vague aspects that need to be accounted for. This paper also revisits the issue of theorizing the phenomenon of verbal irony, which has long been scrutinized by many philosophers and linguists including Aristotle, Grice, Sperber and Wilson, and recently, Utsumi and Attardo.

웹사이트에서 상황적 지각과 감정의 역할이 소비자의 적극적 커뮤니케이션 활동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Situational Perceptions and Anger on a Consumer's Communication Activeness)

  • 본 연구는 인터넷 웹사이트에서 소비자운동을 설명하는데 있어서 인지적인 요인과 감정적 요인의 효과를 살펴본 연구이다. 특히, 인지적 요인을 설명하는 그루닉의 상황적 이론과 감정적 요인을 설명하는 분노활성화 이론을 결합하여 통합모델을 제시하였다. 이 모델을 검증하기 위해서 소비자에 웹사이트에서 이슈화된 제품과 관련 소비자들의 커뮤니케이션 활동을 살펴보았다. 웹사이트에서 멤버들의 커뮤니케이션 활동을 분석하기 위해 가입자를 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 상황적 이론 및 분노는 온라인에서 소비자들의 능동적인 커뮤니케이션 활동을 유의미하게 설명하였다. 더불어 상황적 이론의 요인과 분노를 결합한 모델은 더욱 설명력이 높았고 그 중에서도 분노는 강력한 요인으로 판명되었다.

  • 한국어대화에서는 존대현상(honorification phenomenon)이 일어나기도 하고, 존대대명사(honorific pronoun)가 사용되기도 하며, 맥락상 되찾을 수 있으면 주어나 목적어가 완전히 생략되기도 한다. 이러한 특징적인 언어현상이 일어나는 한국어대화를 처리하고 그것의 표상구조를 만들기 위해서 대화참석자에 관한 정보, 발화문의 화행에 관한 정보. 대화에 관련된 사람들의 사회적 지위에 있어서의 상대적 순위에 관한 정보, 대화에 나타나는 발화문 사이의 정보흐름 등을 묵시적으로가 아니라 명시적으로 표시하고 이용할 것을 본 논문은 제안한다. 또한. 본 논문은 이러한 상황정보(situational information)를 표시하고 이용하는 방법과 한국어대화의 적절한 표상구조를 제시한다. 본 논문에서 한국어대화표상구조의 설정은 담화표상이론(Discourse Representation Theory)과 분할담화표상이론(Segmented Discourse Representation Theory)을 수정ㆍ확대하여 이루어진다. 나아가서, 본 논문은 한국어대화를 전산적으로 어떻게 처리하고 그것의 표상구조를 구축하는지를 프롤로그 프로그래밍 언어를 사용하여 보여주고 나서, 그러한 표상구조의 타당성을 알아보기 위해 자연발생적 한국어대화에도 적용시켜 본다.

효과적인 지역사회개발을 위한 신조류 이론에 근거한 리더십(Leadership) 측정에 관한 고찰 -변혁적ㆍ거래적 리더십 중심으로- (A Study on Leadership Measurement based on New Trend Theory for Effective Community Development - Focused on Transformational and Transactional Leadership -)

  • The purpose of this study was to set related variables for leadership measurement in the leader of a community organization as an effort to Community development constantly. Therefore, in this study, first, various theories on leadership were reviewed. Second, approaches and variable relationships were reviewed by leadership theory study. Third, leadership measurement variables were set based on Bass's Transformational theory, one of new trend theory, to measure the leadership of the community organization leader. As a follow up, clear and scientific analysis, through empirical analysis, based on the variables set in this study will be made to measure leadership of a community organization after creating investigation tools based on the variables set in this study A literature study was mainly used. 'Human Behavior' by Dr Han-geom Lee, 'Leadership Theory' by Eung-seop Shin, many other related books, articles of the Human Relation Organization Association, and theses and Bass's writings. Major findings of this study, through the literature study, were as follows. As conventional leadership theories, characteristics theory, behavior theory and situational leadership theory were proposed. First, characteristics theory searches the characteristics of an effective leader. It proposes that effective leaders and ineffective leaders have different characteristics, respectively. Therefore, it proposes to study the leader's characteristics. However, there is not a flexed definition for leader's characteristics. Scholars make different definition on leader's characteristics, and they are very subjective. Thus it cannot be a valid theory. Second, behavior theory describes how the leader behaves to his fellows. It studies leader's behavior focusing on what type and what combination is the most effective in all situations. However, it has weakness in that it focuses on a leader's behavior only, and ignores the situational features. Third, situational theory describes the relationship between leadership type and situation. It suggests that there is not a single leadership style that can suit all situations. It emphasizes the relationship between leadership type and situation. Although situational theory considers more variables than characteristics theory or behavior theory, it also sees situations as static and flxed. Although Fiedler's theory tried to comply with situations, he did not analyze interactions between a leader and his fellows.

Information Behavior in COVID-19 Prevention: Does Anxiety among Indonesian Mothers Have an Effect?

  • The pandemic of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has contributed more challenges for mothers as the family's primary caregiver in overcoming the widespread infection. Pandemic-related information is essential for mothers to reduce uncertainty as well as to maintain the health of family members during this unprecedented situation. Adopting the framework of the Situational Theory of Problem Solving, this study extends the theory by, first, testing the mediating role of COVID-19 anxiety on mothers' information seeking and information forwarding, referred to as active communication action of problem solving, as well as preventive behavior; and second, by predicting the effect of information seeking on preventive behavior. Referring to an online survey from 371 Indonesian mothers, the findings suggest that in terms of direct effect, only problem recognition was found to have no significant effect on situational motivation. The results suggest that Indonesian mothers perceive COVID-19 as personally relevant so that they are motivated to solve the problem by seeking and forwarding related information. In addition, COVID-19 anxiety was found to play a significant role in predicting information seeking, information forwarding, and preventive behavior. The result of this study is expected to give insights for risk communicators and health professionals in Indonesia in communicating COVID-19, particularly to mothers.

문제해결 상황이론의 적용을 통한 온라인 공중의 사회적 쟁점인식과 커뮤니케이션 행위 분석: 한·일 관계악화에 따른 일본 불매운동 이슈를 중심으로 (Issue Recognition and Communicative Behavior of Online Public on a Social Issue: An Application of the Situational Theory of Problem Solving on Nationwide Civil Boycott of Japanese Goods)

  • 본 연구는 국내 온라인 커뮤니티 이용 공중(public)이 한국과 일본의 관계 악화에 따른 민간주도의 불매운동 이슈에 대하여 그 중요성을 인식하고 관련된 커뮤니케이션 행위에 관여하는 과정을 문제해결 상황이론(Situational Theory of Problem Solving, STOPS)의 적용을 통해 분석하였다. 이를 위해 지난 2019년 7월 일본의 경제보복 성격의 수출규제 조치로 인해 촉발된 일본산 제품 불매운동을 사회적 쟁점으로 선정하여, 온라인 커뮤니티에서 활동하는 공중 524명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시했다. 연구결과, 불매운동 이슈에 대한 공중의 높은 문제인식과 준거지침은 문제해결을 위한 상황적 동기에 정(+)적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 제약인식과 관여도는 정(+)적 영향을 주었으나 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 매개변인인 상황적 동기는 정보선별, 정보수용, 정보전달, 정보공유, 정보추구, 정보주목으로 구성된 문제해결 커뮤니케이션 행위에 모두 정(+)적 영향을 주고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 사회적 쟁점인 불매운동에 대해 중요성을 느끼고 있으며, 이에 대한 배경지식과 의지를 지닌 온라인 공중은 보다 적극적으로 문제해결을 위한 다양한 커뮤니케이션 행위에 참여함을 확인하였다. 또한 연구결과의 이론적 함의와 더불어 향후 연구의 방향성에 대해 기술하였으며, 특히 실무적으로는 정부의 공공PR 전략이 이러한 온라인 공중의 능동성과 파급력을 감안하여, 정교하게 구분된 공중의 특성에 맞는 섬세하고 효과적인 커뮤니케이션 전략을 수립-실행해야 함을 논하였다.

The Impact of Live Commerce Features and Situational Factors on Participation Intention in Tourism Live Commerce

  • Purpose This study explores the impact of tourism live commerce on consumer participation intention. Utilizing Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework and situation theory, the study is to identify the features and situational factors of tourism live commerce and to investigate their impact on flow experience, perceived value, and participation intention. Design/methodology/approach A theoretical model is developed and validated through a survey, adopting PLS-SEM approach. A self-administered questionnaire was developed and distributed via Wenjuanxing, the largest online survey platform in China, in October 2022, resulting in 361 valid responses. Findings The results reveal significant effects of features and situational factors of tourism live commerce on consumer behavior, enhancing the understanding of tourism live commerce and extending the S-O-R framework in this context. The study offers both theoretical contributions and practical implications, providing valuable insights for managers to improve consumer engagement in tourism live commerce.

한국경영에 있어서의 리더쉽에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Leadership in Korean Management)

  • The title of research is a study on the leadership in Korean management. The purpose of research is that I build up the ideal management-leadership in future which is objective and suitable studying through the existing theory at all points, and analyzing the leadership in Korean management concentrated on situational factors. Moreover it contributes to the promotion of productivity, the contents of research 1. The importance of management-leadership. 2. The development in theory concentrated on a principle of leadership. 3. The development in behavioral scientific leadership, which adopts situational approach to its methodology. 4. The study on the leadership-style and the pursuit of the ideal management-leadership in accordance with behavioral analysis. 5. The build up of leadership in Korean management. The refore I learn the following facts through the study on the leadership in modern management. 1. Leadership consists of the relations among all interdependant variables composing of system. 2. The problem of the increase in the management-leadership effectiveness. 3. The pursuit oriented ideal management-leadership. 4. The build-up of leadership in Korean management. So far 1 have studied the theory of management-leadership at all points and the leadership in Korean management concentrated on situational factors. I learn that leadership is made of the relations among these in building the future management-leadership. Therefore I try to come to the conclusion by raising the following three problems. 1. The increase in leadership effectiveness. 2. Leadership-oriented. 3. The build-up of the leadership in Korean management.

중소병원의 교육훈련 프로그램 특성 및 조직상황적 특성이 직무전이에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the influence of job transfer in E&T programs characteristics & organizational situational characteristics of the medium and small-sized hospitals)

  • The purpose of this study was 1) to understand the job transfer in education & training(E&T) programs & organizational situational characteristics, and 2) to analyze the effects of the E&T programs & organizational situational characteristic groups on each of the levels of job transfer. There is intimate relationship between E&T programs characteristics & organizational situational characteristics and job transfer, so we can't think of them separately. With this point of view the most frequently discussed problem is how to apply the theory in actual job, but in reality it's true that the improvement of job transfer can't reach the expectations of the E&T programs. In literature view study, the concepts of job transfer in E&T, the general theory on E&T, and the actual condition and points at issue of the existing E&T practices in the medium and small-sized hospitals were defined. As the results from empirical analysis, we could find followings: First, in evaluation of the job transfer, demographic characteristics (seniority, occupational category, position) variables have a significant different. Second, in degree of the job transfer, E&T programs characteristics(contents of E&T, design of E&T, conditions of E&T, teaching ability of lecturer, methods of E&T) variables have a different influence upon each of the evaluation levels of E&T. Third, support of CEO variables have a different influence on the job transfer according to contents, design, conditions of the E&T programs. Fourth, support of co-works variables have a different influence on the job transfer according to design, conditions, method of the E&T programs. Fifty, support of organizational atmosphere variables have a different influence on the job transfer according to contents, design, conditions of the E&T programs.

정보유출의도에 대한 영향요인: 일반 억제 이론 및 합리적 선택 이론을 기반으로 (Factors Affecting Information Breach Intention: Based on General Deterrence Theory and Rational Choice Theory)

  • 일반적으로 정보유출사건은 외부 해커에 의해 발생된다고 생각되지만 내부자에 의한 직간접적인 정보유출사건이 더 많고 전체 유출비중의 과반 수 이상을 차지하기 때문에 내부자 유출에 대한 대비가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 일반 억제 이론과 합리적 선택 이론을 기반으로 교통심리학 분야에서 연구되었던 행동결정요인인 위험감수성과 상황불안을 통합해 연구모델을 구성하고 설문조사를 통해 실증분석 하였다. 분석 결과, 위험감수성이 지각된 처벌의 심각성 및 확실성에 미치는 영향은 통계적으로 유의미하지 않았으나, 지각된 이익, 상황불안, 지각된 처벌의 심각성 및 확실성은 정보유출의도에 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다.
