  • We investigate existence and multiplicity of the solutions for elliptic boundary value problem with two singularities. We obtain one theorem which shows that there exists at least one nontrivial weak solution under some conditions on which the corresponding functional of the problem satisfies the Palais-Smale condition. We obtain this result by variational method and critical point theory.

  • This paper presents an ARW(Anti-Reset Windup) method for discrete-time control systems with saturation nonlinearites. The method is motivated by the concept of the equilibrium point. The design parameters of the ARW scheme is explicitly derived by minimizing a reasonable performance index. The proposed method is closely related with the singular perturbed theory. The proposed method is applicable to any open-loop stable plants with saturation nonlinearities whose controllers are determined a priori by some design technique.

  • Let {$C_t$} be a pencil of smooth quartics for $t{\neq}0$ degenerating to a plane quartic $C_0$ with an ordinary cusp of multiplicity 3. We compute the stable limit as $t{\rightarrow}0$ of {$C_t$} when the total surface of this family has a triple point at the singular point of $C_0$.

  • This paper presents the continuation power flow system that is under development. The continuation power flow system provides robust solutions of power flow equations at any operating point. The robust convergency enables one to find solutions even at the point where power flow jacobian becomes singular. Basic concept of an algorithm and its application to static voltage stability analysis are presented.

  • In this study, a class of nonlinear boundary fractional Caputo Volterra-Fredholm integro-differential equations (CV-FIDEs) is taken into account. Under specific assumptions about the available data, we firstly demonstrate the existence and uniqueness features of the solution. The Gronwall's inequality, a adequate singular Hölder's inequality, and the fixed point theorem using an a priori estimate procedure. Finally, a case study is provided to highlight the findings.

  • Sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions for a coupled system of nonlinear nonlocal boundary value problems of the type -x"(t) = f(t, y(t)), t $\in$ (0, 1), -y"(t) = g(t, x(t)), t $\in$ (0, 1), x(0) = y(0) = 0, x(1) = ${\alpha}x(\eta)$, y(1) = ${\alpha}y(\eta)$, are obtained. The nonlinearities f, g : (0,1) $\times$ (0, $\infty$ ) $\rightarrow$ (0, $\infty$) are continuous and may be singular at t = 0, t = 1, x = 0, or y = 0. The parameters $\eta$, $\alpha$, satisfy ${\eta}\;{\in}\;$ (0,1), 0 < $\alpha$ < $1/{\eta}$. An example is provided to illustrate the results.

  • In this paper, the method of processing a blurred noisy signal has been researched. The conventional method of processing signal has faults, which are slow-convergence speed and long time-consuming process at the singular point and/or in the ill condition. There is the process, the Gauss-Seidel's method to remove these faults, but it takes too much time because it processes signal repeatedly. For overcoming the faults, this paper shows a signal process method which takes shorter than the Gauss-Seidel's by comparing the Gauss-Seidel's with proposed algorithm and accelerating convergence speed at the singular point and/or in the ill condition.

  • Adaptive mesh refinement scheme is incorporated with the Boundary Element Method (BEM) in order to get accurate solution with relatively fewer unknowns for the case of magnetostatic field analysis and A new and simple posteriori local error estimation method is presented. The local error is defined as integration over the element of the difference between solutions acquired us ing second order and first order interpolation function and is used as the criterion for mesh refinement at given grid. Case study for two dimensional problems with singular point reveals that meshes are concentrated on the neighbor of singular point and the error is decreased gradually and the solutions calculated on the domain are converged to the analytic solution as the number of unknowns increases. The adaptive mesh gives much better rate of convergence in global errors than the uniform mesh.

  • The coexistence and extinction of species are important concepts for biological systems and can be distinguished by an investigation of stability. When determining local stability of nonlinear systems, Lyapunov indirect method based on the Jacobian linearization has been widely employed due to its simplicity. Despite such popularity, it is not applicable to singular systems whose Jacobian has at least one eigenvalue that is equal to zero. In such singular cases, an appropriate Lyapunov function should be sought to determine the stability of systems, which is rather difficult and quite involved. In this paper, we seek for a simple criterion to determine stability of the equilibrium that is located at the boundary of the positive orthant, when one of eigenvalues of the Jacobian is zero. The goal of the paper is to present a generalized condition for the equilibrium to attract all trajectories that starting from initial condition in the positive orthant and near the equilibrium. Unlike the Lyapunov direct method, the proposed method requires just a simple algebraic computation for checking the stability of the critical point. Our approach is applied to various biological systems to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The vibrational characteristics of Multi-Phase Nanocomposite (MPC) reinforced annular/circular plate under initially stresses are presented using the state-space formulation based on three-dimensional elasticity theory (3D-elasticity theory) and Differential Quadrature Method (DQM). The MPC reinforced annular/circular plate is under initial lateral stress and composed of multilayers with Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) uniformly dispersed in each layer, but its properties change layer-by-layer along the thickness direction. The State-Space based Differential Quadrature Method (SS-DQM) is presented to examine the frequency behavior of the current structure. Halpin-Tsai equations and fiber micromechanics are used in the hierarchy to predict the bulk material properties of the multi-scale composite. A singular point is investigated for modeling the circular plate. The CNTs are supposed to be randomly oriented and uniformly distributed through the matrix of epoxy resin. Afterward, a parametric study is done to present the effects of various types of sandwich circular/annular plates on frequency characteristics of the MPC reinforced annular/circular plate using 3D-elasticity theory.
