Objectives: This study divided the factors that affect participation in health screenings into individual, household, and regional levels and conducted a multi-level analysis to identify the factors related to participation in health screenings. Methods: Participants from the 2017 Community Health Survey were classified into 2 groups (under 40 and 40 or older). A multi-level logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify the factors that affected participation in health screenings. Results: The screening rate of the participants was 69.7%, and it was higher among participants aged 40 and older (80.3%) than it was among participants younger than 40 (49.8%). At the individual level, the factors that influenced participation in health screenings included age, economic activity, smoking status, physician-diagnosed hypertension, and a moderate or high physical activity level. At the household level, the odds ratio of participation in health screenings was high for participants who lived in single-person households, lived with a spouse, earned a high monthly household income, and were not beneficiaries of national basic livelihood security. At the regional level, the odds ratio at the 95% confidence interval level of participation in health screenings was high for participants who had trust in the local community and lived in an area with a proportionally high social welfare budget. Conclusions: This study analyzed nationalwide data and confirmed that individual, household, and regional characteristics affected participation in health screenings. Therefore, policies that prioritize the improvement of regional level factors and especially household level factors are likely to be the most effective for improving the screening rate.

The energy of the building is influenced by the user 's activity due to the population, society, and economic characteristics of the building user. In order to obtain accurate energy information, the difference in the amount of energy consumption by the activities and characteristics of building users should be identified. The purpose of the study is to identify the difference in the amount of energy consumption by the user's activities in the same building, and to analyse the relationship between user's activities and demographic, social and economic characteristics. For research, energy simulation is performed based on actual user activity schedule. The results of the simulation were clustered by using K-Means clustering, a machine learning technique. As a result, four types of users were derived based on the amount of energy consumption. The more energy used in a cluster, the lower the user's income level and older. The longer a user's indoor activity times, the higher the energy use, and these activities relate to the user's characteristics. There is more than twice the difference between the group that uses the least energy consumption and the group that uses the most energy consumption.
This study aims to analyze the determinants of culture and art consumption of one person households using 「2019 National Art and Culture Activity Survey」. Based on previous research, cultural and economic capital, health perception, and residence were selected as independent variables, and 1,755 single household data on cultural attendance, art education, and demographics were extracted to analyze the relationships. Zero-inflated negative binomial model was employed as cultural attendance variable includes many zeros. It was found that education has a significant impact on cultural attendance possibility and frequency. However, art education in childhood, income, health perception, and residence were found to have selective effects, and unique characteristics of single households influences the findings. This study contributes to developing relevant research by focusing on the single households and provides implications to boost cultural consumption. Finally, directions for future research, such as considering psychographic variables, were suggested.

The increase in single-person households and the development of Home IoT technology make it important to improve the convenience of the residential environment. In addition, the increase in indoor activities caused by COVID-19 calls for the development of products to make life more convenient for single-person households. This trend of increased indoor activity has made it easier to interact with the current residential environment than before, and as a result, the need to develop technology for Home IoT is emerging. Therefore, the Home IoT system will be developed to monitor the information needed to maintain an ideal indoor environment such as temperature, humidity, and fine dust. The system will also interact with users, and propose a system that improves safety in indoor activities by equipping the home with IoT sensors for preventing safety accidents such as gas leakage and fire.

There is a growing demand for public rental housing since housing price increased rapidly and socially vulnerable people need more stable housing. The purpose of this study is to investigate housing evaluation (satisfaction), moving plan, and residential service according to the type of the public rental housing and the characteristics of the resident, and to suggest the development direction for comprehensive housing services including the community level. Data used for analysis in this study are from 2016 Seoul panel survey of public rental housing residents. A total of 3009 questionnaire from public rental households were collected in 2016 Seoul panel survey. In order to investigate housing requirements, we analyzed household characteristics, housing satisfaction, moving plans, welfare services, residential activities and community facilities, social environment. In this study, the difference of residential satisfaction, moving plan, and residential service according to the type of the public rental housing and the characteristics of the resident is analyzed to identify their housing demands. As a result, there were differences in residential satisfaction, moving plan, and residential service depending on type of public rental housing and characteristics of residents. Residents in public rental housing modified from the multi-family housing after purchase showed lower residential satisfaction, and higher intention for moving plan compared to residents living in other type of public rental housing. In the residential service, residents in permanent lease type have higher experience of housing service as well as demand on housing service. Especially single household, elderly household, female household, or household with handicapped person indicated higher demand for housing services.

Population growth in Korea is slowing down, and the ratio of 1~2 person households has exceeded 53.3% of the total. And in the future, it is becoming more important how to accommodate as proper planning in residential areas. In this paper, we examine whether the existing district unit plans respond appropriately to the trend of the increase in small-sized housing, and we propose improvement plans for elements of the district unit plan and measures to enhance its applicability in response to small-sized housing. To do this, we analyzed the guidelines and contents of the district unit plans related to small-sized housing in recent 6 residential sites, and derived problems and improvements through literature review and expert consultation. As a result of the study, we proposed the items that need to be reflected in the district unit plan related to various housing type for one person household. And planning elements related to households, housing site, building layout, and architectural shape and appearance were also proposed, which were suitable for single-person households, such as small-sized communal housing, share-house, and single-person housing. It also suggested that single-person households should be considered for housing characteristics, including introduction of auxiliary welfare facilities such as unmanned delivery box and guest houses, and exclusion of low-demand auxiliary welfare facilities such as kindergartens. The suggested content can be used to make guidelines for small-sized housing in district unit plan.

In modern society, the number of one-person households is increasing significantly. In particular, one-person households have rapidly increased around local small and medium-sized cities. This study examines the characteristics of local small and medium-sized cities by factor and cluster analysis. Analysis of variance are applied to the characteristics of one-person household in different local cities to find the relationship between different types of cities and the characteristics of one-person households. As a result of the study, local small and medium-sized cities are classified into growth stagnation cities, industrial leading cities, regional base cities, and population outflow cities. It is also found that there are several different types of local cities based on the characteristics of one-person households. The growth stagnation city is a city where the regional economy is revitalized due to the development of regional industries in the past. One-person households have a small age group in their 30s and 40s, which are the basis of industrial activities. They have a high proportion of older generation living in more than three rooms in their homes. It is necessary to supply long-term public rental housing and share houses for older generation. The leading city of the industry is a city where the local economy is revitalized as workers are concentrated. One-person households are evenly distributed among all age groups, and the apartment occupancy rate is the highest compared to other types. It is necessary to provide happy housing for youth generation and reconstruction or renovation housing of manhood generation. The regional base city leads the regional base function and the regional economy, but it has reduced workers. Many of one-person households are younger than 30 years old and college educated. They are also high rate of unmarried and live at one room as rental houses. It is needed to expand the supply of small houses such as apartments, officetels and rented houses for youth generation. The population outflow city has a slow local economy and a rural residential environment. It is found that the households of one-person households have high rate of bereavement and the age. They live more than four rooms in single-family homes. It is necessary not only to provide welfare housing but also to create a sound residential environment where cultural exchange is possible.
Purpose: This study was undertaken to evaluate the health, nutritional status and metabolic syndrome risk according to the dietary pattern of adult single-person households, using information obtained from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Methods: Data were collected from the 2013-2016 KNHANES, of adults aged 19-64 years, belonging to single-person households. Based on cluster analysis, the dietary patterns of subjects were classified into three groups. The dietary behavior factors, health-related factors, nutritional status, and prevalence of metabolic syndrome obtained from KNHANES questionnaires were compared according to the individual dietary pattern. The nutrient intake data of the subjects were calculated using the semi-food frequency questionnaire. Moreover, blood and physical measurement data of the subjects were analyzed to obtain the prevalence of metabolic syndromes. Results: The major dietary intakes of subjects were classified as 'Rice and kimchi', 'Mixed', and 'Milk·dairy products and fruits' patterns. Characteristics of subjects based on their dietary pattern, gender, age, and education level were significantly different. The 'Milk and fruits' pattern showed low frequency of skipping breakfast and eating out, and had higher intake of dietary supplements. Frequency of alcohol intake and smoking rates were highest in the 'Mixed' pattern. Maximum nutrient intake of fat, vitamin A, riboflavin, vitamin C, niacin, calcium, phosphorus, and potassium was obtained in the 'Milk·dairy products and fruits' pattern. According to dietary patterns adjusted for age and gender, the risk of metabolic syndrome was 0.380 times lower in the 'Milk·dairy products and fruit' pattern than in the 'Rice and kimchi' pattern. However, when adjusted for other confounding factors, no significant difference was obtained between dietary patterns for metabolic syndrome risk. Conclusion: These results indicate that the health and nutritional status of a single-person household is possibly affected by the dietary intake of subjects.
Objectives: This study investigates dietary supplement intakes by examining the characteristics of dietary and health-related behaviors. Data were obtained from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Dietary and health-related behaviors were also examined before and after the occurrence of COVID-19 and household types (multi-members vs. single person). Methods: Data used in this study were collected from the 2019-2020 KNHANES by including adults aged 19 to 64 years. Pregnant, lactating, and subjects consuming calories less than 500 and more than 5,000 were excluded. Differences in dietary and health-related behaviors before and after COVID-19, and between the two types of households were analyzed by Chi-square analyses using Rao-Scott. Logistic regression analyses were applied to determine which dietary and health-related behaviors affected the dietary supplement intakes. In addition, descriptive analysis was run for demographic characteristics. Results: The dietary supplement intake rate differed significantly with respect to the gender, age, education, marital status, and household income. Dietary supplement intakes, frequency of eating out, obesity, and body weight changes were significantly different before and after COVID-19. In addition, meal evaluation, frequency of eating out, drinking, smoking, activity, subjective health evaluation, and body weight changes showed significant differences by household type. Attitude towards nutrition, activity, meal evaluation, obesity, and smoking were factors that affected the intake of dietary supplements. Conclusions: While increased intake of dietary supplements is a prevalent phenomenon, this intake needs to be monitored and studied closely, considering the sociodemographic characteristics and dietary and health-related behaviors. Furthermore, the dietary supplement intake trend after COVID-19 needs to be studied along with food intake.
In this paper, we propose an IoT based smart outlet system for one-person household with electric safety, electric energy consumption management and transmission of messages to the reserved contacts by connecting the emergency network. The proposed smart outlet system is implemented by parsing packet data and protocol between server, module, application and WiFi AP receiver. The WiFi AP built for communication can be used not only for the outlet but also for the gas barrier, the door lock and the like. In addition, the proposed method can provide the remote monitoring function by receiving the amount of power of the receptacle received through the AC current sensor (SCT-013) in real time. The smart outlet system is expected to be capable of automatically shutting off the power in case of emergency through automatic power use analysis in addition to the standby power cutoff function.
