기능에서 상징으로: 평양역사 건설, 1907-1958 (From the Functional to the Monumental: The Construction of the Pyongyang Station, 1907-1958)

  • Construction of the Pyongyang Railroad Station began in 1907 as an important foothold for the Japanese colonization of the Korean Peninsula and the further invasion of Manchuria. As Pyongyang gradually grew in size and political significance, the Pyongyang Station came to have two responsibilities: Fulfill its functional role and serve as a monument to the growing dignity of the city. This study argues that the Pyongyang Station, newly rebuilt in 1958, was the first building to solve the demands for both functional expansion and the pursuit of monumentality. Stylistically, the original single-story wooden building became a three-story classical masonry building. The stylistic change symbolizes the political shift by which the building was reconstructed. The simple wooden building built by the Japanese, representing Pyongyang's status as a colonial provincial town, was transformed into an imposing gateway for the capital city of a newly born socialist state. Socialist Realism, correctly described by its slogan "socialist in content and national in form," harmoniously blended classical architecture, socialist symbols, and Korean local motifs. This study is significant in that it illustrates the historical changes and continuity of the Pyongyang Station from 1907, when it was first built, through the "liberated space" to the postwar reconstruction period of the 1950s.

  • 본 연구에서는 2013년 의왕시 지적재조사사업 수행과 관련하여 지적재조사 사업의 측량 방법중 GPS-RTK(Network, Single)측량과 토탈스테이션(T/S)측량의 성과 정확도 및 소요시간 등을 비교분석함으로써 주택밀집 지역의 도시지역 지적재조사 사업지구에서의 효율적인 측량 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 의왕시 지적재조사 측량 분석결과를 종합적으로 평가한 결과 건물이 밀집되어 있는 도시지역에서의 지적재조사 측량 방법은 GPS-RTK측량 방법을 지양하고 토탈스테이션에 의한 측량 방법을 제1원칙으로 정하고 GPS -RTK측량을 보조측량 및 검사 방법 등에 활용하는 것이 타당하다는 결론을 도출하였다.

과학기술위성 3호 S 대역 수신기 기술인증모델 개발 (Engineering Qualification Model Development of S-band Receiver for STSAT-3)

  • 과학기술위성 3호의 TT&C 통신 서브시스템은 위성의 텔레메트리(Telemetry) 신호를 지상국에 송신하고 지상국으로부터의 명령(Command) 신호를 수신하기 위한 통신 경로로 구성된다. 지상국으로부터의 명령신호를 수신하기 위해 S 대역 수신기가 사용되며, 현재 기술인증모델을 설계 및 제작하였다. 설계된 S 대역 수신기는 구조를 간단하게 하기 위해 주파수 하향변환 방식으로 Single Conversion 방식을 사용하였으며, DC-DC Converter과 EMI Filter을 포함한다. 또한 디지털 복조부를 FPGA를 이용하여 구현하였으며, 데이터 인터페이스로 RS-422을 사용하였다. S 대역 수신기는 기능시험과 환경시험을 수행한 결과 과학기술위성 3호의 요구조건을 모두 만족하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 중계기를 활용한 다중 입력 기술이 차세대 광대역 무선 이동 통신의 유력한 후보로 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 채널 선택적 중계기 기반의 다중 입력 전송 시스템을 제안한다. 본 전송 시스템은 상하향 전송을 위해 SC-FDMA (Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access)와 OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) 방식을 각각 채택한다. 단말기와 기지국 간 사용되는 부채널을 고정하고, 중계기와 단말기 또는 중계기와 기지국 사이의 채널 상태에 따라 선택적으로 부채널을 사용함으로써 수신 성능을 크게 향상시킬 수 있다. 실험 결과를 통해, 제안된 중계기 기반 시스템의 성능이 기존의 중계기 기반 시스템의 성능보다 우수함을 확인한다.

  • A unit-load automated guided vehicle system is considered in which a single vehicle is operated on a unidirectional path in a closed loop. The vehicle serves a manufacturing cell moving pallets from one station to another based on the "First-Encountered-First-Serve" dispatching rule. An approximation method is developed to compute the mean waiting time of an arbitrary pallet at each station. Extensive numerical experiments, performed for various problems, yield fairly good results in most of the cases compared with those obtained by simulation method.

시리즈로 구성된 큐잉망의 최적 순서에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Order of Queueing Networks in Series)

  • In this paper, the queueing system in series is studied. The system is a tandem queueing system which has three stations. In system, one service station has a general distributions and two service stations have exponential distribution. Each station has a single server. The customer arrives with Poisson process and is serviced sequentially. It is assumed that the order of stations does not affect the quality of services. Using the light traffic approximations, the optimal order of the system which has the three stations is decided.

  • The first Korean satellite laser ranging (SLR) system, Daedeok SLR station (DAEK station) was developed by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) in 2012, whose main objectives are space geodesy researches. In consequence, Korea became the $25^{th}$ country that operates SLR system supplementing the international laser tracking network. The DAEK station is designed to be capable of 2 kHz laser ranging with precision of a few mm both in daytime and nighttime observation of satellites with laser retro-reflector array (LRA) up to the altitude of 25,000 km. In this study, characteristics and specifications of DAEK station are investigated and its data quality is evaluated and compared with International Laser Ranging Service (ILRS) stations in terms of single-shot ranging precision. The analysis results demonstrated that the DAEK station shows good ranging performance to a few mm precision. Currently, the DAEK station is under normal operations at KASI headquarters, however, it will be moved to Sejong city in 2014 to function as a fundamental station for space geodesy researches in combination with other space geodesy systems (GNSS, VLBI, DORIS, etc.).

Effects of Non-Uniform Traffic Distribution on the Capacity of Reverse Link CDMA System

  • In this paper, we analyzed the other-cell interference characteristics for various non-uniform traffic distributions and their effects on the capacity of multi-cell CDMA system. We consider three different traffic distributions, i.e., linear, exponential and Gaussian traffic distribution with distribution parameters. Changing the distribution parameter, we can obtain the center-focused distributions or uniform distributions for each model. From the results of other-cell interference calculation we can see that the other-cell interference decreases, as the user concentrates on the base station. Also using frequency reuse efficiency indicating the capacity reduction of a multi-cell system when compared to a single cell system, we evaluate the effect of traffic distribution on the reverse link CDMA capacity. For linear case, the capacity of multi-cell system is reduced to 0.637∼0.867 times that of single cell system. On the other hand, for both exponential and Gaussian cases, the capacity under a multi-cell environment is equal to 70∼100% of that under a single cell. Therefore, we conclude that the average capacity of multi-cell CDMA system are increased when users are likely to be at near the cell base station due to reduced total other-cell interference and decreased when users exist at near the cell edge regardless of traffic distribution models.

주파수제어를 위한 비열제어기구의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study of Optimal Design of the Proportional Load-Frequency Controller for a Self-service Power Station)

  • The object of this work is to study an optimal design problem of the proportional load-frequency controller for the single-control area power system. The selfservice power station is still a popular means as a power supplying source on ships or in a certain manufacturing area. The power system of this kind can be formulated as a single control-area system and it attracts a certain academic interest in controlling the system frequency under disturbances. In this paper, the single control-area system is mathematically formulated as a linear, time-invariant system in state-space under certain assumptions. The optimal proportional control law and the realization of the controller in closed loop-version is studied so that the final system designed can attain the system frequency to the nominal stationing value after the small load-disturbance. As in general cases of optimal design problems, the performance index is assumed to be quadratic in states and the control effort, and the infinite time control process is assumed in this work. The final control system realized depicts certain improvements in case study; in stability, transient responses and in steady-state frequency deviation, even though the steady state error did not attain the zero value.
