다파장 라만 라이다 시스템을 이용한 발원지 및 이동 경로에 따른 황사의 광학적 특성 변화 연구 (Study on the Variation of Optical Properties of Asian Dust Plumes according to their Transport Routes and Source Regions using Multi-wavelength Raman LIDAR System)

  • 본 연구에서는 광주과학기술원의 다파장 라만 라이다 시스템을 이용하여 2009년부터 2011년, 3년동안 광주에서 대기 에어로졸의 관측을 실시하였다. 관측된 라이다 신호의 분석으로부터 산출된 편광소멸도를 이용하여 황사의 층을 구분해 내었다. 구분 된 황사의 층의 고도에 따른 정보들은 Hybrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory(HYSPLIT) 모델을 이용한 황사 층의 역궤적 분석에 이용되었고, 그 정보들을 통하여, 황사 층의 발원지 및 유입경로를 규명할 수 있었다. 한반도로 유입되는 황사는 고비사막을 기원으로 하는 경우가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났으며, 또한, 황사의 이동경로에 따른 광학적 특성 변화를 규명하기 위해, 중국 공업지역을 통과하여 유입된 황사 층과 발원지로부터 한반도로 직접적으로 유입된 황사의 구분하여 경로에 따른 입자 편광소멸도의 통계 분석을 실시하였다. 중국 공업지역을 통과하여 한반도로 유입된 황사의 편광소멸도는 0.07-0.1의 값을 보인 반면, 발원지로부터 공업지역을 경유하지 않고 직접 유입된 황사의 편광소멸도는 0.11-0.15로 상대적으로 높은 값을 보였다. 이는 발원지에서 발생한 순수 황사입자가 이동 중에 공업지역에서 발생한 오염입자와 혼합하여 황사층의 편광소멸도를 감소시킨 것으로 사료된다.

  • 본 연구는 가는 모래로 이루어진 하상으로부터 침식된 부유사의 농도분포 계산결과에 차폐효과가 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 수행되었다. 하상재료의 입도분포를 고려하여 침식율을 산정할 수 있는 유사이동 모형을 개발하였으며, 측정자료와의 비교를 통해 수치모형의 적용가능성을 검토하였다. 수치모의결과로부터 하상재료 입도분포의 기하표준편차가 1.5보다 작은 경우 차폐효과가 부유사 농도의 연직방향 분포 계산결과에 미치는 영향은 매우 작은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 기하표준편차가 1.5이하인 가는 모래로 이루어진 하상으로부터 침식된 유사 농도를 계산하는 경우, 균일사로 가정 후 대표입경을 바탕으로 농도를 산정하여도 합리적인 결과가 얻어지는 것으로 확인되었다.

  • The objective of the present study is to perform experiments for water filled cavity heated and cooled from the side at $Ra=8.5{\times}108$. This experiment can provide validation database of the standard k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model for single-phase turbulent natural convection which has been regarded as one of the important phenomena in nuclear safety. For the natural convection inside a cavity, temperature and velocity were obtained by thermometry and PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) methods. These results would be used for validation of standard k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model.

장파장 산란 근사를 이용한 구형 개재물 문제의 유효 탄성적 성질 (Long Wavelength Scattering Approximations for the Effective Elastic Parameters of Spherical Inclusion Problems)

  • The effective elastic properties of materials containing spherical inclusions were calculated by the elastic wave scattering theory. In the formulation additional scattering fields by the presence of random multiple scatterers that affects the effective properties were found by the single scattering approximation. In calculating the scattering fields the ensemble average on the displacements and strains inside the scatterer was found from the static approximation at long wavelength limit. The displacements were assumed to be equal to the incident field, while the strains were calculated by Eshelby's equivalent inclusion principle on the single inclusion problem. Four different models were considered and they reflected different degrees of multiple scattering effects based on the approximation introduced in the process of embedding the inclusion in the matrix. The expressions for the effective elastic constants were given in each model, and their relations to the results obtained from other scattering theory and elasticity theory were discussed. The theoretical predictions were compared with experimental results on the epoxy matrix composites containing tungsten particles of different sizes and volume fractions

초음파 펄스 에코 패턴으로 용접 결함 식별 방법 연구 (Study of the Weld Defects Identification Method by Ultrasonic Pulse Echo Patterns)

  • 본 연구에서는 초음파 탐상시험의 펄스 반사법으로 각각 용접결함에 따른 초음파 펄스파형모형을 연구하였다. 균열은 예리하고 선명한 신호들을 발생한다. 탐촉자를 결함주위로 이동하면 에코높이는 변한다. 긴 균열에서는 탐촉자가 결함 주위를 원형으로 목돌림주사법을 사용하여 탐상하면 에코높이는 급격히 감소한다. 그 에코 봉우리는 바늘과 같이 얇고 날카롭다. 기공은 단일 결함으로부터 발생하는 에코는 예리하고 선명하다 하지만 집단의 기공들은 다수의 반사들이 중첩되고 트레이스가 들쭉날쭉한 에코가 발생한다. 슬래그 개재물은 크랙과 슬래그 결함위치에서 각각 목돌림 주사법을 사용하여 탐상하면 그 에코형상은 어느 정도 차이를 볼 수 있었다. crack은 그 에코높이가 급격히 변하는 반면에 슬래그 개재물은 증가${\rightarrow}$감소${\rightarrow}$증가${\rightarrow}$감소된다. 또한 다수 밀집된 기공의 위치에서 결함은 대표적 에코형상과 같은 잡다한 에코형상은 슬래그에서는 볼 수 없었다. 용입불량은 결함의 에코형상은 크랙과 같이 날카롭고 예리하게 나타났고, crack과 비슷한 에코형상은 갖고 있었다.

  • Sintering bed of iron ore in the steel making process is one of typical applications of solid fuel bed, which has relatively uniform progress of fuel and simple processes of combustion. The sintering bed was modelled as an unsteady one-dimensional progress of fuel layer containing the two phases of solid and gas. Cokes added to the raw mix of which the amount is about 3.5% of the total weight was assumed to form a single particle with other components. In the early predition results presented in this paper, the flame propagation within the bed was not sustained after the top surface of the bed was ignited with hot gas. It suggests that the model should be extended to consider the multiple solid phase, which can treat the ore particles and the coke particles separately.

다공성 물질 안에서의 자연대류 현상에 대한 열역학적 국소평형상태 가정의 고찰 (An Investigation on Local Thermodynamic Equilibrium Assumption of Natural Convection in a Porous Medium)

  • A numerical study on natural convection in a vertical square cavity filled with a porous medium is carried out with Brinkman-Forchheimer-extended Darcy flow model, and the validity of local thermodynamic equilibrium assumption is studied. The local thermodynamic equilibrium refers to the state in which a single temperature can be used to describe a heat transfer process in a multiphase system. With this assumption, the analysis is greatly simplified because only one equation is needed to describe the heat transfer process. But prior to using this assumption, it is necessary to know in what conditions the assumption can be used. The numerical results of this study reveal that large temperature difference between fluid phase and solid phase exists near wall region, paticularily when the convection becomes dominant over conduction. And the influence of flow parameters such as fluid Rayleigh number, fluid Prandtl number, dimensionless particle diameter and conductivity ratio are investigated.

Quasi-steady State Simulation of Rotating Detonation Engine

  • We performed a numerical simulation based on the two-dimensional (2-D) unsteady Euler's equation with a single-step Arrhenius reaction model in order to investigate the detonation wave front propagation of an Argon (Ar) diluted oxy-hydrogen mixture ($2H_2+O_2+12Ar$). This simulation operates in the detonation frame of reference. We examine the effect of grid size and the performance impact of integrated quantities such as mass flow. For a given set of baseline conditions, the minimal and maximum grid resolutions required to simulate the respective detonation waves and the detonation cell structures are determined. Tertiary shock wave behavior for various grids and pre-exponential factors are analyzed. We found that particle fluctuation can be weakened by controlling the mass flow going through the oblique shock waves.

  • In this paper, optimal selection of the unified power flow controller (UPFC) damping controller parameters in order to improve the power system dynamic response and its stability based on two modified intelligent algorithms have been proposed. These algorithms are based on a modified intelligent particle swarm optimization (PSO) and continuous genetic algorithm (GA). After extraction of UPFC dynamic model, intelligent PSO and genetic algorithms are used to select the effective feedback signal of the damping controller; then, to compare the performance of the proposed UPFC controller in damping the critical modes of a single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) power system, the simulation results are presented. The comparison shows the good performance of both presented PSO and genetic algorithms in an optimal selection of UPFC damping controller parameters and damping oscillations.

고차모드를 고려한 사각형 단순 확장관의 간편음향해석법의 개선 (A Modified Simple Acoustic Analysis of Rectangular Simple Expansion Chamber with Consideration of Higher Order Modes)

  • The acoustic performance of reactive type single expansion chamber can be calculated theoretically by plane wave theory. But higher order model should be considered to widen the frequency range. Mode matching method has been developed to consider higher order modes, but very complicated algebra should be used. Munjal suggested a numerical collocation method, which can overcome the shortcomings of mode matching method, using the compatibility conditions for acoustic pressure and particle velocity at the junctions of area discontinuities. But the restriction of Munjal's method is that the ratio between the area of inlet(or outlet) pipe and that of chamber must be natural number. In this paper, the new method was suggested to overcome the shortcomings of Munjal's method. The predictions by this method was also compared with those by the finite element method and Munjal's method in order to demonstrate the accuracy of the modified method presented here.
