  • The purpose of this study is to understand the effects of simulation-based practice education on critical thinking disposition, clinical performance ability, and self-confidence. Using the method of one-group pretest-posttest experimental research, this study selected total 70 nursing students (3rd year) as research subjects. The final research subjects were total 63 students excluding seven people with insufficient responses. From March to April 2023, total eight sessions of simulation practice education (4 hours per session) were conducted once a week. In the effects of the program, the critical thinking disposition, clinical performance ability, and self-confidence were measured. Using the SPSS Window Version 25.0, the critical thinking disposition, clinical performance ability, and self-confidence were analyzed through the mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test. In the results of this study, the critical thinking disposition (t=-10.61, p<.001), clinical performance ability (t=-3.06, p=.003), and self-confidence (t=-15.97, p<.001) were statistically significant. In the results of analyzing the correlations of clinical performance ability, and self-confidence after the simulation practice education, the learning satisfaction showed significantly positive correlation with immersion (r= .647, p<.001). The results of this study verified the improvement of critical thinking disposition, clinical performance ability, and self-confidence of nursing students after the simulation-based practice education. Thus, it would be necessary to develop the educational contents for various subjects, and also to expansively apply the simulation practice education.

  • Fire simulation has been developed for decades to analyze fire cases and provide a tool to study fundamental fire dynamics and combustion. There are three way of fire simulation which are a full scale simulation, an experimental simulation and a computational simulation. In case of a full scale simulation, because a higher cost, a higher risk, more efforts are needed, a demand for it has been decreased. But recently a demand for an experimental simulation and a computational simulation has been increased. A computational simulation has several advantages; lower cost, short period, many case studies, more visual results, a quantitative result and etc. FDS(Fire Dynamics Simulator) which has been developed in BFRL(Building and Fire Research Laboratory), NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology) is a popular world wide code for fire simulation. Lack of accurate predictions by the model could lead to erroneous conclusions with regard to fire safety. All results should be evaluated by the informed judgment of the qualified user.

  • The typhoon wind characteristics designing for buildings or bridges located in complex terrain and typhoon prone region normally cannot be achieved by the very often few field measurement data, or by physical simulation in wind tunnel. This study proposes a numerical simulation procedure for predicting directional typhoon design wind speeds and profiles for sites over complex terrain by integrating typhoon wind field model, Monte Carlo simulation technique, CFD simulation and artificial neural networks (ANN). The site of Stonecutters Bridge in Hong Kong is chosen as a case study to examine the feasibility of the proposed numerical simulation procedure. Directional typhoon wind fields on the upstream of complex terrain are first generated by using typhoon wind field model together with Monte Carlo simulation method. Then, ANN for predicting directional typhoon wind field at the site are trained using representative directional typhoon wind fields for upstream and these at the site obtained from CFD simulation. Finally, based on the trained ANN model, thousands of directional typhoon wind fields for the site can be generated, and the directional design wind speeds by using extreme wind speed analysis and the directional averaged mean wind profiles can be produced for the site. The case study demonstrated that the proposed procedure is feasible and applicable, and that the effects of complex terrain on design typhoon wind speeds and wind profiles are significant.

  • This study tests the effect of recommended product presentation on consumers' usage intentions of a website, mediated by mental simulation. Mental simulation refers to perceptual experience, a more automatic form of mental imagery, initiated by exposure to the representations of objects. This study expects that when compliments of clothes (coordination items) are vertically presented online, consumers are likely to feel as if they wear the outfits due to the activation of mental simulation. The survey was conducted on 147 women in an age group between 20 and 40 years in a panel of an online survey firm. Data are analyzed using exploratory factor analysis and bootstrapping analysis by SPSS 20.0. The results show that when compliments (vs. substitutes) of clothes are presented, participants perceive a greater mental simulation. When compliments of clothes are vertically presented (vs. horizontally presented), mental simulation is also highly driven. In addition, mental simulation mediates the effects of online product presentation on consumers' usage intentions of a website. The findings of this study contribute to marketing strategies of online retailers in terms of how product recommendation can be offered to consumers with more psychological benefits.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate a simulation technology for the AM field based on ANSYS Inc.. The introduction of metal 3D printing AM process, and the examining of the present status of AM process simulation software, and the AM process simulation processor were done in the previous study (part 1). This present study (part 2) examined the use of the AM process simulation processor, presented in Part 1, through direct execution of Topology Optimization, Ansys Workbench, Additive Print and Additive Science. Topology Optimization can optimize additive geometry to reduce mass while maintaining strength for AM products. This can reduce the amount of material required for additive and significantly reduce additive build time. Ansys Workbench and Additive Print simulate the build process in the AM process and optimize various process variables (printing parameters and supporter composition), which will enable the AM to predict the problems that may occur during the build process, and can also be used to predict and correct deformations in geometry. Additive Science can simulate the material to find the material characteristic before the AM process simulation or build-up. This can be done by combining specimen preparation, measurement, and simulation for material measurements to find the exact material characteristics. This study will enable the understanding of the general process of AM simulation more easily. Furthermore, it will be of great help to a reader who wants to experience and appreciate AM simulation for the first time.

  • This study aims to apply 3D virtual fabric parameters - as obtained from previous research experiments - to 3D virtual clothing simulation in comparing its similarity with actual clothing as worn, with a view to verifying the objectivity and validity of the 3D virtual fabric simulation method devised by the drape image analysis method. In addition, the result is intended to be used as the basic data for new 3D virtual clothing simulation methods. As the results, 3D virtual fabric parameters designed to simulate 3D drape to be similar to actual fabrics were found to be Bending Strength, Buckling Point, Density, Particle Distance, and Shear. They were also found to be important measurements when evaluating visual similarity between drape shadow images and number of nodes. 3D virtual fabric simulation method devised by the drape image analysis method was appropriate in extracting 3D fabric parameters with the reflection of actual fabrics' physical and dynamic characteristics, in connection with 3D virtual fabric simulation. 3D virtual fabric parameters with the reflection of actual fabrics' physical and dynamic characteristics using the proposed 3D virtual fabric simulation method are accumulated and provided as a standard, this will facilitate the introduction 3D virtual fabric simulation technology.

  • Purpose - According to the importance of business simulation learning as a new type of business learning tool, this study reviews the dimensions of business education and a brief history of business education simulation. At the end Capsim strategic management simulation program is introduce with its feature. Research design, data, and methodology - This study has been analyzed in a way that reviews at previous literature on simulation learning and looks at examples and features of Capsim simulation, online business simulation tools which has been used in the global market. Result - Capsim simulations are designed to offer focused opportunities for deep practice. That's why they are often more effective than passive tools such as textbooks, videos, or lectures. By the way, 'deep practice' is very different from 'ordinary practice'. After commuters who drive to school or work can accumulate thousands of hours of driving, but that doesn't make them expert drivers. The key to deep practice is self-awareness. That is, paying attention to what you are doing well and not so well. This is so important to learn that scientists use a specific term for it: 'metacognition', or thinking about the way you think and learn. Conclusion - The use of business simulation learning, such as Capsim, which is a given case, can create similar local systems by potentially engaging a large number of users in the virtual market. It could also be used as an individual to complete business training for students and those who are active in the business field of business.
