  • In the steady-state simulation, it is important to identify initialization bias for the correct estimates of the simulation model under study. In this paper, the methods from chaos theory are applied to the determination of truncation points in the simulation data for controlling the initial bias. Two methods are proposed and evaluated based on their effectiveness for estimation the average waiting time in M/M/1($\infty$) queueing model.

  • Utilizing the simulation approaches, the dynamic production scheduling system FOLS(Flexible flowshop On-Line Simulation) is developed under the flexible flowshop environment. When an interruption such as machine failure/recovery is occurred at the shop floor, the FOLS system performs evaluations for job selection rule oriented alternatives, and generates a dynamic production schedule based on the collected current shop floor data. For the case study, the FOLS system is applied to the printed circuit card assembly(PCCA) line and simulation results are reported.

  • This paper presents the simulation architecture and strategy for dynamic simulation of chemical process and describes key features of developed dynamic simulation system, MOSA(Multi-Objective Simulation Architecture). A plant structure may be partioned into several strong coupling units, called cluster. If this cluster is solved simultaneously, it is possible to simulate whole plant without introducing convergence problem of tear streams. In this study, a flexible modular approach based on clusters was proposed as a promising architecture for dynamic chemical process simulator.

  • In this study, a distributed simulation of Petri net models under HLA/RTI framework is considered. Throughout our modeling experiences, it is recognized that the proper use of interface specification and time management services are important in order to achieve successful implementation of RTI. The interfacing tokens between Petri net models are distinguished as information entity and physical entity. Both entities are modeled as InteractionClass in order to send and receive messages. For the synchronization of local simulation clocks, a conservative method with NERA service is considered. A cell manufacturing system is modeled and implemented with RTI to illustrate the distributed simulation of Petri net models.

  • Real-time driving simulation is a comprehensive technology that can be applied effectively to vehicle and traffic safety improvement, by reproducing various driving conditions and situations realistically in a safe and controlled environment. This paper describes PC-based real-time driving simulation technology in terms of design factors and simulation components. It also introduces Kookmin University Driving Simulators developed based on these considerations, which have been applied effectively to ABS HILS and a human factor study concerning sudden acceleration accident reconstruction.

  • This paper presents a user-oriented port expansion simulation model that determines the future economic port capacity to meet the projected demand. The model consists of two parts; a physical impact simulation, and an economic impact simulation. The first part of the model simulates the effects caused by the port capacity expansion. The second part evaluates the port economics due to changes in the port capacity. The model was validated by applying it to the actual port expansion followed at the Port of Mobile, Alabama. A case study is then presented to demonstrate the capacity of the model with a coal handling port, the McDuffie Terminals at the Port of Mobile.

고위험 신생아 무호흡 응급관리 시뮬레이션 시나리오 평가 (Evaluation of Algorithm-Based Simulation Scenario for Emergency Measures with High-Risk Newborns Presenting with Apnea)

  • Purpose: This study was done to develop and evaluate an algorithm-based simulation scenario for emergency measures for high-risk newborns presenting with apnea. Methods: A one shot case study design was used to evaluate the algorithm-based simulation scenario. Effects of the developed simulation scenario were evaluated using the Simulation Effectiveness Tool (SET) and the Lasater Clinical Judgement Rubric (LCJR). From March to November 137 senior nursing students completed the simulation using this scenario. Results: The eight-frame simulation scenario was developed based on the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and the nursing clinical judgment process. After use of the scenario, overall scores for SET and LCJR were 21.0 out of 26.0 and 32.4 out of 44.0 respectively. There were no significant differences in scores according to general characteristics. Positive correlation coefficients were identified among overall and subcategories of SET and LCJR. In addition, students provided positive feedback on the simulation experience. Conclusion: Considering that nursing students have limited access to high-risk newborns during their clinical experience and that newborns presenting apnea are common in the neonatal intensive care unit, the simulation scenario developed in this study is expected to provide nursing students with more opportunities to practice emergency measures for high-risk newborns.

지상무기체계 교전 모의를 위한 에이전트 기반 시뮬레이션 시스템 아키텍처 설계 연구 (A Study on Agent based Simulation System Architecture for the Engagement of Ground Weapon Systems)

  • 본 논문은 지상무기체계 교전을 모의하기 위한 시뮬레이션 시스템 구축에 관한 연구이다. 본 논문에서는 에이전트 시뮬레이션 설계 방법론에 기반하여 시뮬레이션 시스템 아키텍처를 제안한다. 제안된 아키텍처의 각 개체는 에이전트 기반으로 모듈화된 컴포넌트들을 조합하여 구성된다. 이와 같은 개체 구성 방법은 개체의 재사용성과 조합성을 향상시키고, 결과적으로 시뮬레이션 시스템의 개발에 투입되는 시간, 비용, 및 노력을 감소시킨다. 지상무기체계 교전의 모의는 환경의 영향을 반영하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 제안된 아키텍처의 합성전장환경은 전장의 환경 데이터를 가지며 시뮬레이션 시스템의 전투개체와 계속적으로 상호작용한다. 이러한 아키텍처를 기반으로 구축된 시뮬레이션 시스템은 목적에 따라 다양한 지상무기체계 교전 시나리오의 신속한 모의가 가능하고, 개체들의 행위 수행에 환경 영향이 반영되어 신뢰성 있는 시뮬레이션 결과를 도출할 수 있다. 본 논문은 제안된 아키텍처를 기반으로 예제 시스템을 구축하여 그 효용성을 증명하였다.

예측의 문제 상황에 대한 멘탈 시뮬레이션에서 나타난 심상 시뮬레이션의 역할과 전략 분석 (An Analysis on the Roles and Strategies of Imagistic Simulation Observed in Mental Simulation about Problematic Situations of Prediction)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 공기 이동에 관한 사고실험에서 나타나는 멘탈 시뮬레이션을 분석하여 예측과 설명의 생성 및 정교화 과정을 알아봄으로써 멘탈 모델링 교육에 대한 시사점을 주는데 있다. 이를 위해 문헌 연구를 기반으로 멘탈 시뮬레이션 과정 및 전략 분석틀을 개발하였으며, 과학교육 전문가 4인의 내용타당도를 확인 받았다. 연구 참여자는 초등예비교사 10명을 대상으로 하였으며, 개발된 2개의 사고실험 과제에 대해 사고발성법을 통해 총 20개의 사례를 수집하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 멘탈 시뮬레이션 과정은 문제상황지각, 상황해석, 초기표상 진술, 심상 시뮬레이션 실행, 시뮬레이션 결과 확인, 정렬 확인, 구조화된 표상 재진술의 과정으로 나타났으며, 관련 개념을 해석하여 초기 표상을 진술한 후 여러 차례의 심상 시뮬레이션의 실행을 통해 설명과 예측을 생성하고 정교화 하고 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 멘탈 시뮬레이션 과정에서 확대, 분할, 차원강화, 차원감소, 첨가, 제거, 대체, 최소최대화와 같은 시뮬레이션 전략의 사용이 확인되었다. 시뮬레이션 전략의 사용은 문제 상황의 메커니즘 요소를 발견하는데 기여하였다.

A Study on the Effects of ARPA/Radar Simulation Training

  • In this study, a survey was conducted among students who received ARPA/radar simulation training in order to verify the effect of training. An effective training method based on the analysis results was also proposed. Furthermore, this study analyzed full mission simulation conducted over one semester, and found that training effect increased as time passed. The survey showed improvement in skills related to radar/ARPA utilization, ARPA decoding, ship handling, and overall skill. Students responded practical skills improved more than theoretical knowledge, and also analysis showed that ship handling skills had a larger effect than radar decoding skills on improving overall skill, therefore proposed that theoretical education regarding the functions of radar and ARPA should be reinforced in ARPA/radar simulation training.
