An Architecture for the DCT and IDCT using a Fast DCT Algorithm (고속 DCT 알고리즘을 이용한 DCT 및 IDCT 구조)

  • This paper proposes an implementation of DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) and IDCT (Inverse DCT) using a fast DCT algorithm with shift and addition operations instead of multiplications Based on the proposed algorithm, a new VLSI architecture for the DCT and the IDCT is proposed. It shows modularity , regularity and capability for multiprocessing. Its performance is also simulated by a simulation software, "Compass". The results of the simulation provide the quality of decompression images, the increase in processing speed, representing the superiority of the proposed architecture.

  • In this paper, algorithm for fault classification and detection of generator dropping using wavelet singular value decomposition (WSVD) is proposed. Busan area upper 345kV is modeled and generator dropping is simulated in EMTP-RV. Characteristic of generator dropping is analyzed and this algorithm is deducted by calculating WSVD in MATLAB.

  • Induced voltage causing disturbances on the communication lines of electric train is dealt with when the AT power supply system is employed. In the paper we obtain an algorithm to calculate the induced voltages on the communication lines in the AT system and an algorithm for the induced current in case of the accident that the line falls to the ground. These algorithms are developed to a package of computer programs and their validity was checked on a simulated system.

  • This paper describes a new method for indirect sensing of the rotor position in switched reluctance motors using fuzzy logic algorithm. Through a novel fuzzy algorithm, the complete SRM magnetizing characterization is first constructed, and then used to estimate the rotor position. And also, the optimized phase is selected by phase selector. To demonstrate the promise of this approach, the proposed rotor position estimation algorithm is simulated for variable speed range.

  • In the existing GFCS (Gun Fire Control Systems) there is sometimes the problem of the miss distance which is between a target and the projectiles from gun and cannot be neglected. This errors are difficult to reduce either in the gun design phase or by precalibration exercise. In this paper the CLSA (Closed Loop Spotting Algorithm) which is applied to improve the performance of the GFCS is porposed and analysed. The results simulated by Monte Carlo technics show us better performance than the existing GFCS.

  • The Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT) is effective technique for image compression, which is widely used in the area of digital signal processing. In this paper, an efficient DCT processor is proposed and simulated by using Verilog HDL. This algorithm is improved 60% in processing speed, but it's somewhat complicate compared with Y. Arai's algorithm. This algorithm will be used efficiently for real time image processing.

  • This paper describes $\mu$-law PCM/ADPCM Code Conversion System. The system algorithm is computer-simulated, and with the result of simulation the system is designed by using the Am 2900 family's Bit-Slice Microprocessors which have a high-speed processing power. The ADPCM algorithm is based on Jayant's model and the converting algorithm between $\mu$-law PCM and linear PCM is developed according to the CCITT Recommendation G. 711.

  • This paper presents a hardware for image alignment based on proposed new algorithm which can align a small misaligned document image simply by one transformation with a parallel shifting of pixels. This hardware is simulated with VHDL and estimated to be about 65 ms to align an image made up of 380 by 480 pixels. Also, we will demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed image alignment algorithm in OCR system by comparing its characteristics with those of the existing image rotation algorithms.

  • The simulated annealing(SA) algorithm is a stochastic strategy for search of the ground state and a powerful tool for optimization, based on the annealing process used for the crystallization in physical systems. It's main disadvantage is the long convergence time. Therefore, this paper proposes a stochastic algorithm combined with conventional deterministic optimization method to reduce the computation time, which is called SDS(Stochastic-Deterministic-Stochastic) method.

  • Three typer of spin-axis attitude determination program for the geosynchronous transfer orbit spacecraft are developed. Deterministic closed-from algorithm, batch least-square algorithm and stabilized Kalman filter algorithm are used for implemetation of three programs. EUROSTAR bus model from British Aerospace is used for attitude sensor modelling. Attitude determinations using three programs are performed for the simulated sensor data according to INMARSAT 2-F1 prelaunch mission analysis.
