퍼지 simplex search 알고리듬을 이용한 동력 스크류 효율의 최적설계 (Optimum Design of Power Screw Efficiency by Fuzzy Simplex Search Algorithm)

  • The Nelder-Mead simplex algorithm has been one of the most widely used methods for the nonlinear unconstrained optimization, since 1965. Recently, the new algorithm, (so-called the Fuzzy Simplex Algorithm), with fuzzy logic controllers for the expansion, reflection and contraction process of this algorithm has been proposed. In this paper, this new algorithm is developed. And, the formulation for the optimum design of the power screw's efficiency is made. And then, the developed fuzzy simplex algorithm as well as the original one is applied to this optimum design problem. The Fuzzy simplex algorithm results in a faster convergence in this problem, as reported in other study, too.

Vignetting Dimensional Geometric Models and a Downhill Simplex Search

  • Three-dimensional (3D) geometric models are introduced to correct vignetting, and a downhill simplex search is applied to determine the coefficients of a 3D model used in digital microscopy. Vignetting is nonuniform illuminance with a geometric regularity on a two-dimensional (2D) image plane, which allows the illuminance distribution to be estimated using 3D models. The 3D models are defined using generalized polynomials and arbitrary coefficients. Because the 3D models are nonlinear, their coefficients are determined using a simplex search. The cost function of the simplex search is defined to minimize the error between the 3D model and the reference image of a standard white board. The conventional and proposed methods for correcting the vignetting are used in experiments on four inspection systems based on machine vision and microscopy. The methods are investigated using various performance indices, including the coefficient of determination, the mean absolute error, and the uniformity after correction. The proposed method is intuitive and shows performance similar to the conventional approach, using a smaller number of coefficients.

  • The optimization method based on an enhanced genetic algorithms is proposed for multimodal function optimization in this paper. This method is consisted of two main steps. The first step is global search step using the genetic algorithm(GA) and function assurance criterion(FAC). The belonging of an population to initial solution group is decided according to the FAC. The second step is to decide the similarity between individuals, and to research the optimum solutions by simplex method in reconstructive search space. Two numerical examples are also presented in this paper to comparing with conventional methods.

  • LCD(Liquid Crystal Display)는 자체 발광능력이 없으므로 그 후면에서 LCD 화면을 밝혀주는 BLU(Backlight Unit)를 필요로 한다. BLU의 핵심부품으로써 광원으로부터 나온 빛을 LCD의 패널 방향으로 이끌어내는 역할을 담당하고 있는 부분이 바로 도광판이고, 빛을 패널 방향으로 고르게 분포시키기 위해 도광판 하부에 점 모양의 확산물질을 인쇄한다. 이 인쇄패턴은 광원으로부터의 거리에 따라서 그 크기를 다르게 함으로써 패널 부분으로 균일한 평면광을 생성하도록 한다. 따라서 보다 균일한 평면광을 생성하는 BLU를 개발하기 위해서는 주어진 조건에서 패널 부분으로 균일한 평면광을 생성하도록 설계된 인쇄패턴을 찾는 것이 관건이다. 이러한 인쇄패턴을 Simplex Search 알고리즘을 사용하여 자동으로 찾게 함으로써 수작업으로 찾는 것보다 빠른 시간 내에 더욱 효율적인 인쇄패턴을 찾도록 한다.

Nelder-Mead 심플렉스 알고리듬의 수렴에 관한 수치실험 (Numerical Experiment for the Properties of Nelder-Mead Simplex Algorithm Convergence)

  • To find the optimal solution as rapidly and exactly as possible with Nelder-Mead simplex algorithm, the present values of the reflection, expansion, contraction and/or shrink parameters of this algorithm are needed to be changed at appropriate time during the search process. The reflection parameter is selected in this study in order to be changed because reflection, expansion and contraction process can be simultaneously effected by only this parameter. Two independent indices for determining whether the present value of the reflection parameter of this algorithm should be changed or not during the search process are suggested in this study. Those indices were made of the equations of Nelder-Mead simplex algorithm's convergence criterion and Dennis-Wood's convergence criterion, respectively. It is appeared that the optimal solution can be find with smaller numbers of objective function evaluation than the original Nelder-Mead's one with fixed parameter when the those indices are used during the search process. and the more remarkable reduction effect of the number of an objective function evaluation can be obtained when the latter index is used.

  • LCD BLU(Back-Light Unit)의 설계에는 광선추적 기법이 많이 사용되고 있으며, 이러한 기법을 통하여 도광판 전면으로 출사되는 빛의 휘도, 휘도의 균일도, 광효율 등을 수치적으로 예측할 수 있다. 휘도와 휘도의 균일도 등과 같은 항목은 BLU 설계에 있어서 매우 중요한 요소 중의 하나이며, 이러한 BLU의 광학적 특성은 도광판의 후면에 인쇄된 잉크패턴에 가장 많을 영향을 받고 있다 따라서 높은 휘도와 균일도를 발생시킬 수 있는 최적화된 잉크패턴을 설계하는 것은 BLU의 설계에 있어서 가장 중요한 부분 중의 하나이다. 본 논문에서는 최적의 잉크패턴을 설계하기 위하여 직접탐색(Direct Search) 기법 중에서 Holder Mead의 심플렉스탐색(Simplex Search) 알고리즘을 적용하였다. 직접탐색 기법은 최적의 잉크패턴을 계산하는 것과 같은 비선형적이고, 비연속적이며, 미분불가능한 함수의 최적점을 계산하는 분야에 많이 적용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 여러 가지 실험을 통하여 심플렉스탐색 기법이 최적의 잉크패턴을 설계하는데 있어서 매우 효율적이며 안정적으로 사용될 수 있음을 보여주며, 이러한 최적화 기법으로 인하여 BLU 설계기능을 개선할 수 있음을 보여준다

  • This paper proposes a combinatorial method to compute the global and local solutions of optimization problem. The present hybrid algorithm is the synthesis of a genetic algorithm and a local concentrate search algorithm (simplex method). The hybrid algorithm is not only faster than the standard genetic algorithm, but also gives a more accurate solution. In addition, this algorithm can find both the global and local optimum solutions. An optimization result is presented to demonstrate that the proposed approach successfully focuses on the advantages of global and local searches. Three numerical examples are also presented in this paper to compare with conventional methods.

Multi-Exchange Neighborhood Search Heuristics for the Multi-Source Capacitated Facility Location Problem

  • We present two local-search based metaheuristics for the multi-source capacitated facility location problem. In such a problem, each customer's demand can be supplied by one or more facilities. The problem is NP-hard and the number of locations in the optimal solution is unknown. To keep the search process effective, the proposed methods adopt the following features: (1) a multi-exchange neighborhood structure, (2) a tabu list that keeps track of recently visited solutions, and (3) a multi-start to enhance the diversified search paths. The transportation simplex method is applied in an efficient manner to obtain the optimal solutions to neighbors of the current solution under the algorithm framework. Two in-and-out selection rules are also proposed in the algorithms with the purpose of finding promising solutions in a short computational time. Our computational results for some of the benchmark instances, as well as some instances generated using a method in the literature, have demonstrated the effectiveness of this approach.

사면안정해석에 대한 Constrained Simplex Method 적용 (A Constrained Simplex Method for Slope Stability Analysis)

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)에서는 기존(旣存)의 절편법의 단점(短點)을 보완(補完)하기 위하여 Gussmann의 일반절편법을 안전율(安全率)로 정의하고, 또한 예상파괴면(豫想破壞面)을 구하기 위하여 Box가 제안(提案)한 Constrained simplex method를 최적화기법(最適化技法)으로 이용함으로써 안전율(安全率)과 한계파괴면(限界破壞面)을 동시에 구할 수 있는 사면안정해석(斜面安定解析) 프로그램 CSLOP을 개발(開發)하였다. 무한사면(無限斜面)과 일반사면(一般斜面)을 대상(對象)으로 사면해석을 한 결과 CSLOP에서 구한 안전율(安全率)은 Bishop의 간편해(簡便解)와 별 차이가 없었으며, 한계 파괴면을 찾는데 있어서 좋은 수렴(收斂)결과를 보였다.

수종 Flavonoid의 항허피스바이러스효과 (Antiviral Activity of Some Flavonoids on Herpes Simplex Viruses)

  • To search for less toxic antiherpetic agents, the inhibitory effects of twelve kinds of flavonoids including chrysin, quercetin, quercitrin, rutin, fisetin, gossypin, kaempferol, morin, naringenin, naringin, hesperetin and hesperidin on the plaque formation of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2) in Vero cells were examined by plaque reduction assay in vitro. Some flavonoids tested in this study showed potent antiherpetic activity, reducing intracellular replication of herpes simplex viruses when Vero cell monolayers were infected and subsequently cultured in medium containing flavonoids. Naringenin showed the most potent antiviral activity against HSV-1 with selectivity index (SI) of 19.1 and hesperetin showed the most potent antiviral activity against HSV-2 with SI of 9.8. These results suggest that some flavonoids may be a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment and prevention of herpes simplex virus infections.
