Design of GPS L1-CA/Galileo Dual Mode Receiver (GPS L1-CA/Galileo 겸용 수신기의 설계)

  • A GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) using GPS provides us with very useful information concerning the positioning of users in many sectors such as transportation, social services, the justice system and customs services, public works, search and rescue systems and leisure. A GNSS using the Galileo satellite is due to work in 2008 and expected to be used in various fields such as aviation, marine transportation, land surveying, resources development precise agriculture, telemetics, and so on. In this paper, we discuss the implementation and testing of a combined GPS/Galileo receiver which we named KSTAR V1.0. Each tracking module of GPS/Galileo dual mode correlator has the five track arms which consist of Very Early code, Early code, Prompt code, late code, and Very late code. Each of 24 tracking modules can be assigned to GPS and/or Galileo signal by changing mode selection register. The basic correlator integration dump period is set to 1ms for GPS C/A code and fast Galileo signal tracking. The performance of the developed combined GPS/Galileo receiver was tested and evaluated using the IF (Intermediated Frequency)-level GPS/Galileo signal generator.

  • This paper deals with the robust nonlinear controller design using output feedback for a Chua circuit which is one of the well-known nonlinear models. First, an exosystem for reference signal tracking is defined, and error dynamic equations are derived from the differentiation of the output tracking error equation. The normal sliding surface is modified using the integral type servo compensator. The parameters in the equations of the modified sliding surface and servo compensator are determined by using the Hurwitz condition of stability. Especially the error signals can't be obtained directly from the output because all parameters are assumed unknown. So instead, a high gain observer is designed. From this estimated error signals, a stabilizing controller is designed. Simulation is done for demonstrating the effectiveness of the suggested algorithm.

A Spiking Neural Network for Autonomous Search and Contour Tracking Inspired by C. elegans Chemotaxis and the Lévy Walk

  • Caenorhabditis elegans exhibits sophisticated chemotaxis behavior through two parallel strategies, klinokinesis and klinotaxis, executed entirely by a small nervous circuit. It is therefore suitable for inspiring fast and energy-efficient solutions for autonomous navigation. As a random search strategy, the Lévy walk is optimal for diverse animals when foraging without external chemical cues. In this study, by combining these biological strategies for the first time, we propose a spiking neural network model for search and contour tracking of specific concentrations of environmental variables. Specifically, we first design a klinotaxis module using spiking neurons. This module works in conjunction with a klinokinesis module, allowing rapid searches for the concentration setpoint and subsequent contour tracking with small deviations. Second, we build a random exploration module. It generates a Lévy walk in the absence of concentration gradients, increasing the chance of encountering gradients. Third, considering local extrema traps, we develop a termination module combined with an escape module to initiate or terminate the escape in a timely manner. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model integrating these modules can switch strategies autonomously according to the information from a single sensor and control steering through output spikes, enabling the model worm to efficiently navigate across various scenarios.

  • This paper describes real-time detection and tracking of moving objects for unmanned visual surveillance. Using images obtained from the fixed camera it detects moving objects within the image and tracks them with displaying rectangle boxes enclosing the objects. Tracking method is implemented on an embedded system which consists of TI DSK645.5 kit and the FPGA board connected on the DSP kit. The DSP kit processes image processing algorithms for detection and tracking of moving objects. The FPGA board designed for image acquisition and display reads the image line-by-line and sends the image data to DSP processor, and also sends the processed data to VGA monitor by DMA data transfer. Experimental results show that the tracking of moving objects is working satisfactorily. The tracking speed is 30 frames/sec with 320x240 image resolution.

  • A modified repetitive control is formulated and analyzed in the discrete-time domain. Sufficient conditions for the stability of a class of repetitive controllers are given by means of the regeneration spectrum method. When a periodic signal input is drived into the two-mass-spring plant, the performance of the proposed controller which comprises a low-pass filter and two feed-forward compensators, turns out highly accurate by comparing the tracking result from the conventional LQ controller.

  • When the teleoperated system has a signal transmission time delay between slave and control system , the system stability as well as the position tracking and the force reflecting performances are likely to be deteriorated. This paper proposed a bilateral control scheme and a controller design method for the teleoperated control systems with a signal transmission time delay.   • This paper analyzes effect of the spinning vehicle on the GPS signal. In rapid spinning vehicles such as missiles and space rockets, carrier phase and frequency depend on the roll rate of the vehicle. It induces phase and frequency modulation caused by the roll rate. The modulated phase and frequency increase dynamic stress error of the tracking loop. Even though higher order tracking loop can remove dynamic stress error, the dynamic stress error can not be remove in this case. In order to analyze the effect of the spinning vehicle on the GPS signal, the experiments are carried out. The experiment results show the modulation of the carrier frequency and phase caused by the roll rate of the spinning vehicle.

  • This paper proposes a novel computer human interface, named Virtual Wireless Microphone (VWM), which utilizes computer vision and signal processing. It integrates real-time face tracking and sound signal processing. VWM is intended to be used as a speech signal input method for human computer interaction, especially for autonomous intelligent agent that interacts with humans like as digital secretary. Utilizing VWM, the agent can clearly listen human master's voice remotely as if a wireless microphone was put just in front of the master.

  • This paper presents the development of an algorithm for position control of feed drives in machine tools. The algorithm is constructed through an experimental method based on proportional control with a ramp input. In the first step of designing, a tracking-error curve is generated with the proportional control, and then an error model is decided to reduce the tracking error, Next, the output signal of the error model is added to the current error signal to yield the actuating error signal. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is confirmed through simulation and experiments.
