As the low power GPS signal is susceptible to interference, interference can seriously degrade the performance of GPS receiver. This paper designs a ANIEF(Adaptive Narrowband Interference Excision in Frequency domain) filter that removes narrow band interferences with low signal loss. This filter uses the pre-correlation technique and attempts to filter out the interference in the frequency domain. The interference excision performance of the designed filter is evaluated for various interferences using the ANIEF filter inserted GPS software receiver and the interference generator. Interferences considered in this paper are single-tone CWI(Continuous Wave Interference), multi-tones CWI, pulsed CWI, and swept CWI. The narrowband interference excision filter in frequency domain is very effective against various interferences and the strong interference with a simple structure. However, the signal power loss is unavoidable while transforming. In this paper, the hamming window and overlap technique are adopted to reduce the signal power loss. Finally, the interference excision performance and the reduced signal power loss of the ANIEF filter are shown.

The previous acquisition method of GPS receiver for reference station adopts not only the coherent integration method but also the non-coherent integration method in order to enhance sensitivity under noisy environment. However, under noisy environment, the previous GPS signal acquisition method causes the non-coherent integration loss which is a major factor among losses that can be caused during GPS signal acquisition. The non-coherent integration loss also increases with the strength of the received noise. This paper has intention of analyzing the performance of the GPS signal acquisition method proposed to effectively enhance sensitivity of DGPS reference receiver under noisy environment. This paper presents that the proposed GPS signal acquisition method suppresses the non-coherent integration loss through post-processing simulation. Furthermore, with regard to the mean acquisition time, it is shown that the number of search cells of the proposed GPS signal acquisition method is much fewer than that of the previous GPS signal acquisition method.
This paper considers a carrier based signal injection method for use in the three shunt sensing inverter (TSSI) for sensorless motor control. It also analyzes the loss according to the injection axis of the voltage signal. To remove both the phase current and rotor position sensors, a sensorless method and a phase current reconstruction method can be simultaneously considered. However, an interaction between the two methods can be incurred when both methods inject voltage signals simultaneously. In this paper, a signal injection based sensorless method with the 120° OFF Discontinuous PWM (DPWM) is implemented in a TSSI to avoid this interaction problem. Since one leg does not have a switching event for one sampling period in the 120° OFF DPWM, the switching loss is altered according to the injection axis. The switching loss in the d-axis injection case can be up to 32% larger than that in the q-axis injection case. Other losses according to the injection axis are also analyzed.

This paper investigates the effect of absorption loss by a human body to the received signal strength with respect to on-body transmitting antenna positions in on-to-off wireless body area networks. This investigation is based on measurement results obtained from experiments performed on human bodies (male and female) using planar inverted-F antennas in an anechoic chamber. The total absorption loss by the human body is also presented through the SEMCAD-X simulations. Our investigation showed that the received signal strength becomes lower when the transmitting antenna is mounted at a specific position where more absorption loss is experienced. The statistical analyses of on-to-off body channel characteristics based on the measurement results are presented.

For sensitivity enhancement, the general assisted-GPS acquisition method adopts not only the coherent accumulation technique but also the non-coherent accumulation technique since the long coherent accumulation period increases the number of frequency search cells. But the non-coherent accumulation technique causes tile squaring loss, which is a dominant factor among the acquisition losses of assisted GPS dealing with weak GPS signals. This paper derives the squaring loss of the previous assisted-GPS acquisition method and proposes an assisted-GPS acquisition method for solving the problem of squaring loss in weak signal environment. In this paper, it is explained that the proposed assisted-GPS acquisition method prevents the squaring loss using a coupled coherent accumulation technique and the number of search cells of the proposed assisted-GPS acquisition method is much smaller than that of the previous assisted-GPS acquisition method. Finally, through the simulation by the GPS simulator, the acquisition success rate of the proposed assisted-GPS acquisition method is compared with that of the previous assisted-GPS acquisition method and the acquisition improvements are shown in weak signal environment.

In this paper, we analyzed the effect by building materials in the case of floor cell design and the penetration loss value by material in each frequency bands through an experiment in high building. Specially, the penetration loss measured about interference signal that is received to direct path, interference signal and flowed in slant path. Also, we analyzed system performance according to path of standard Cell received interference signal.

In the case of high-speed data transmission on high multilayer boards, signal coherence is a problem, especially due to the via hole, and a solution to improve return loss or insertion loss by applying a back drill to the via hole is being proposed. In this paper, Near-Field Electromagnetic measurements were made on a high multilayer board to determine how the presence or absence of back drill affects signal consistency. For this purpose, we used a signal generator, spectrum analyzer, and EMC scanner on a test board to determine if it is possible to distinguish between areas with and without back drill in the via holes of the stubs on the board. Also, we analyzed the measured value of S11, S21 and EMC etc. for how much it improves the signal attenuation of the stub with back drill. Through this, we knew that less electromagnetic waves are generated the stub via with back drill. At future research, we will analyze how much it improves the signal loss and electromagnetic waves due to the depth of back drill.

The received signal strengths according to the propagation distance between a transmitting shore station with a 53 m antenna hight and a receiving ship station with about 6m antenna hight from 700 m upto about 20 km are measured at ship's moving velocity of $5{\pm}1m/s$ using a single carrier signal at 150.0625MHz. In this paper, the path loss exponents at the propagation distance from 700 m to 20km are estimated via minimum-mean-square-error method using the measurements of the received signal strength, and the mean of the estimated path loss exponent become 3.79. The estimated propagation path loss exponents is similar to that calculated based on the field-strength values from 2 km to 20 km in Annex 2 of ITU-R P.1546-4, which is measuring results at maritime VHF at 100 MHz carrier frequency. Therefore, the estimated propagation path loss exponent shall be used as the expected path loss exponents for summer in costal area of South Sea of Korea.

Transmissivity and the signal loss in soil are computed. An electric field expression for the inhomogeneous complex media modelled by two layers is shown as an integral form. Volume scattering occurs in inhomogeneous media, and iterative Born approximation is used to analyze this scattering effect. The degree of randomness is controlled by specifying the variance and correlation length. Expression for the transmissivity and the signal loss is presented as the parameter of soil moisture contents, soil particle radius, temperature and frequency. The analysis shows that big deviation in signal loss depends on the temperature variation remarkably and the physical reason of unusual level is explained.
Error characteristics of a mirror loss measurement system using an exponential decay method were studied, with the two samples having about 200-ppm-loss and 30-ppm-loss, respectively. In order to minimize the decay signal deviation from an exponential curve due to cavity length fluctuation, a data average method was tried. The data average method significantly improved the exponential curve fitting error of the decay signal, so that for a 6 decay signal data average the loss measurement error was reduced by about 2.4 times for the 200-ppm-loss mirror and 1.3 times for the 30-ppm-loss mirror compared with a single shot measurement. Day-to-day mirror loss repeatability error for the two samples was investigated. The repeatability error was measured to be about 5% for the 200-ppm-loss mirror and about 26.4% for the 30-ppm-loss mirror. Low decay signal average effect and high repeatability error in the low loss mirror measurement were explained with non-uniform spatial loss distribution of the sample and contamination from the environment, in addition to the error sources of the mirror loss measurement system itself. The influence of cavity length fluctuation and cavity length measurement error on the mirror loss measurement system performance was theoretically calculated. It confirmed that the requirement for the cavity length parameters was not so strict in the mirror loss measurement system of several ppm resolution. ution.
