The goal of this study is to realize the PBG lowpass filter using novel PBG structure modification both upper layer and ground layer. It has been designed three aperture slots of ground layer for PBG structure which the center slot shape of ground is two type, rectangular and dumbbell. This PBG LPF llas the character of the broader stopband and smaller size than typical LPF. The measurement results have matched the simulated ones. It has the cutoff frequency of each 4.4650Hz and 3.520Hz and at least -2OdB of the signal suppression at the stopband.
The conformations of human insulin precursors, proinsulin and preproinsulin, are described in terms of molecular dynamics simulations. Despite the presence of the C-peptide and/or the signal peptide, molecular dynamics calculations utilizing the hydration shell model over a period of 500 ps indicate that the native conformations of the A and B chains are well conserved in both cases. These results further support the NMR spectroscopy results that the C-peptide is relatively disordered and does not influence the overall conformation of the native structure. The robustness of the native structure as demonstrated by experiment and simulation will permit future protein engineering applications, whereby the expression or purification yields can be improved upon sequence modification of the C-peptide and/or the signal peptide.

In this paper, we propose a modified error function to improve the EBP(Error Back-Propagation) algorithm of Multi-Layer Perceptrons. Using the modified error function, the output node of MLP generates a strong error signal in the case that the output node is far from the desired value, and generates a weak error signal in the opposite case. This accelerates the learning speed of EBP algorothm in the initial stage and prevents overspecialization for training patterns in the final stage. The effectiveness of our modification is verified through the simulation of handwritten digit recognition.
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), synthesized in the hypothalamus, plays a pivotal role in the regulation of vertebrate reproduction. Since molecular isoforms of GnRH and their receptors (GnRHR) have been isolated in a broad range of vertebrate species, GnRH and GnRHR provide an excellent model for understanding the molecular co-evolution of a peptide ligand-receptor pair. Vertebrate species possess multiple forms of GnRH, which have been created through evolutionary mechanisms such as gene/chromosome duplication, gene deletion and modification. Similar to GnRHs, GnRH receptors (GnRHR) have also been diversified evolutionarily. Comparative ligand-receptor interaction studies for non-mammalian and mammalian GnRHRs combined with mutational mapping studies of GnRHRs have aided the identification of domains or motifs responsible for ligand binding and receptor activation. Here we discuss the molecular basis of GnRH-GnRHR co-evolution, particularly the structure-function relationship regarding ligand selectivity and signal transduction of mammalian and non-mammalian GnRHRs.

In this paper, real-time voice change method using pitch change technique is proposed to change one's voice to the other voice. For this purpose, sampling rate change method using DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) method and time scale modification method using SOLA (Synchronized Overlap and Add) method is combined to change pitch. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, voice transformation experiments were conducted. Experimental results showed that original speech signal is changed to the other speech signal in which original speaker's identity is difficult to find. The system is implemented using TI TMS320C6711DSK board to verify the system runs in real time.
The proposed algorithm uses a modified adaptive law which consists of switching -modification, normalized augmented error and low-pass filtered signal of output tracking error, furthermore, the proportional term that is a product of the output tracking error and the bounded signal having an information of output tracking error is added to the conventional control law for improvement of robustness and performance of an adaptive system. For the arbitrary nth order system, mathematical analysis and computer simulation are used to demonstrate improvement of output error characteristics, guaranteeing boundedness of all signals in the overall system.

An image authentication scheme for gray scale image through embedding a digital watermark by quantization of Integer Wavelet Transform (IWT) coefficients of the image is proposed in this paper. Proposed method is designed to detect modification of an image and to identify tampered location of the image. To embed the watermark mid-frequency band of a second level IWT was used. An approximation of the original image based on LL band was stored in LSB bits of the pixel data as a recovery mark for restoration of the image. Watermarked image has achieved a good PSNR of 40 dB compared to original cover image. Restored image quality was also very good with a PSNR of more than 35 dB compared to unmodified watermarked image even when 25% of the received image is cropped. Thus, the proposed method ensures a proper balance between the fidelity of the watermarked image and the quality of the restored image.

Outlier detection and removal is a crucial step needed for various image processing applications such as image registration. Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) is known to be the best algorithm so far for the outlier detection and removal. However RANSAC requires a cosiderable computation time. To drastically reduce the computation time while preserving the comparable quality, a outlier detection and removal method based on modified K-means is proposed. The original K-means was conducted first for matching point pairs and then cluster merging and member exclusion step are performed in the modification step. We applied the methods to various images with highly repetitive patterns under several geometric distortions and obtained successful results. We compared the proposed method with RANSAC and showed that the proposed method runs 3~10 times faster than RANSAC.
In order to utilize different nitrogen sources and to survive in a situation of nitrogen limitation, microorganisms have developed sophisticated mechanisms to adapt their metabolism to a changing nitrogen supply. In this communication, the recent knowledge of nitrogen regulation in the amino acid producer Corynebacterium glutamicum is summarized. The core adaptations of C. glutamicum to nitrogen limitation on the level of transcription are controlled by the global regulator AmtR. Further components of the signal pathway are GlnK, a $P_{II}-type$ signal transduction protein, and GlnD. Mechanisms involved in nitrogen control in C. glutamicum regulating gene expression and protein activity are repression of transcription, protein-complex formation, protein modification by adenylylation, change of intracellular localization, and proteolysis.

It is hard to listen to the music clearly in the presence of background noise. In this paper, a method that modifies the audio signal automatically to enhance the audio listening experience in adverse environment is proposed. Specifically, the method that amplifies the audio signal so that the perceived loudness of audio signal in each band becomes similar to that of the noiseless signal. The loudness perception model proposed by Moore et. al is utilized. Extending the previous work that is applied to speech reinforcement, the full band signal sampled at 48kHz is manipulated based on the loudness restoration principle. Moreover, based on the observation that the audio clarity is compromised even with loudness restored signal, a modification that intentionally boosts high frequency loudness more than lower band is also proposed. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm can enhance the audio listening experience in adverse environment.
