  • In this paper, we propose a LED communication based multi-hop audio data transmission network system. The main contribution and features of the proposed system are as follows. First, the contribution of this research is to develope the LED communication based multi-hop transmission network system which can transmit audio data signal with long distance via multi-hops. Second, the developed system has the following features: In transmitter, audio data is transmitted after encoding with S/PDIF format via a general LED. The relay receives digital audio signal by using photo diode and then transmits the signal to receiver after error checking and amplifying. The receiver receives the encoded audio data via photo diode and then converts to analog audio signal by using decoding and amplifying. The performance evaluation of the proposed system is conducted in the laboratory with fluorescent light source. The results of the performance evaluation confirm that the system can provide high quality audio transmission from transmiter to receiver via multi-hop relays in a long distance while we can see there are differences in the transmitted audio quality according to the used LED colors.

  • In order to understand and manage traffic flows in urban areas in the past, a variety of traffic engineering theoretical indicators such as intersection lag and highway speed have been applied. However, these theories and indicators have been developed under the constraints of traffic engineering research before the construction of intelligent transportation system. Since the ATIS system currently exists, it is necessary to introduce a separate traffic engineering technology that utilizes the data. In this paper, it is aimed to confirm whether it is applicable to intermittent flow (approach road, intersection, control group, main road axis) by using 'congestion intensity' which is already used in traffic engineering field. The results of this study are as follows: (1) The traffic signal improvement effect of urban road access road, intersection road, control group, Two verification studies were performed to verify the derived congestion intensity index. (1) verification of congestion intensity threshold value analysis and (2) crossing improvement using the congestion intensity. Through verification, it was confirmed that it is possible to apply the congestion intensity in the inter - city intermittent flow using the 5 - minute unit speed data so as to be able to escape from the existing traffic signal operation management which is past passive and manpower limit.

  • In this study, electromyography was obtained in the six muscle areas that move the joints of the two legs, and by analyzing it, an exercise robot system capable of gait rehabilitation was proposed in consideration of the individual's muscle state. Through this, the system was constructed to prevent the effect of exercise from decreasing because the patient's will was not reflected when walking exercise was simply provided automatically. As a result of the evaluation of the developed system, it was confirmed that the pedestrian rehabilitation robot system manufactured through this study had performance suitable for the design requirements, and it was also confirmed that the usability evaluation was comprehensively satisfactory. The results of this study are thought to be of great help to patients who are having difficulty in gait rehabilitation, and are believed to be helpful in the development of electromyography signal-based gait robot systems.

  • The importance of active sonar systems is emerging due to the quietness of underwater targets and the increase in ambient noise due to the increase in maritime traffic. However, the low signal-to-noise ratio of the echo signal due to multipath propagation of the signal, various clutter, ambient noise and reverberation makes it difficult to identify underwater targets using active sonar. Attempts have been made to apply data-based methods such as machine learning or deep learning to improve the performance of underwater target recognition systems, but it is difficult to collect enough data for training due to the nature of sonar datasets. Methods based on mathematical modeling have been mainly used to compensate for insufficient active sonar data. However, methodologies based on mathematical modeling have limitations in accurately simulating complex underwater phenomena. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a sonar signal synthesis method based on a deep neural network. In order to apply the neural network model to the field of sonar signal synthesis, the proposed method appropriately corrects the attention-based encoder and decoder to the sonar signal, which is the main module of the Tacotron model mainly used in the field of speech synthesis. It is possible to synthesize a signal more similar to the actual signal by training the proposed model using the dataset collected by arranging a simulated target in an actual marine environment. In order to verify the performance of the proposed method, Perceptual evaluation of audio quality test was conducted and within score difference -2.3 was shown compared to actual signal in a total of four different environments. These results prove that the active sonar signal generated by the proposed method approximates the actual signal.

  • In this paper, we designed the antipodal vivaldi antenna for IR-UWB systems application and evaluated IR-UWB antenna performance for the ultra wideband impulse signal transmission in the time- and frequency-domain. The designed antipodal vivaldi antenna was fabricated using FR-4 substrate which thickness 1.6 mm, dielectric constant ${\epsilon}_r=4.7$ and $tan{\delta}=0.002$. We measured the return loss, far filed radiation pattern at the anechoic chamber in the frequency-domain. We also performed the pulse fidelity analysis in the time-domain using nano-second impulse signal transmission and demonstrated the feasibility of ultra wideband signal stable transmission in the UWB band. The designed and fabricated antipodal vivaldi antenna could be emitting and receiving the IR-UWB signal while preserving low pulse distortion and good radiation pattern in time- and frequency-domain.

  • Small cells are deployed in Heterogeneous Networks (HetNet) to improve overall performance. These access points can provide high-rate mobile services at hotspots to users. In a Small Cell Network (SCN), the good deployment of small cells can guarantee the performance of users on the basis of average and cell edge spectrum efficiency. In this paper, the performance of small cell deployment is analyzed by using system-level simulations. The positions of small cells can be adjusted according to the deployment radius and angle. Moreover, different Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC) techniques are also studied, which can be implemented either in time domain or in frequency domain. The network performances are evaluated under different ICIC techniques when the locations of Small evolved Nodes (SeNBs) vary. Simulation results show that the average throughput and cell edge throughput can be greatly improved when small cells are properly deployed with the certain deployment radius and angle. Meanwhile, how to optimally configure the parameters to achieve the potential of the deployment is discussed when applying different ICIC techniques.

  • In this paper, we analyze ADC effect in IBFD system. Also, we design IBFD system with ADC effect, and evaluate BER performance of the system according to power of self-interference. Firstly, we describe a fundamentals of general IBFD system. And then we calculate and analyze characteristics of desired signal before and after ADC when residual self-interference is added to desired signal after RF cancellation. In this calculation, we have confirm some conditions for selection of # of ADC bit. Finally, we design IBFD system with ADC effect, and evaluate BER performance of the system by using Simulink simulation tool. As simulation results, we have confirmed that when power of residual self-interference is high before ADC, IBFD system must use high-bit ADC for decreasing quantization step. Also, we have confirmed that quantization step should be lower than one-third of amplitude of desired signal for effective communication with good performance.

  • An ultrasonic signal processing algorithm was developed for extracting the information of cracks generated around the keyway of a turbine rotor disk. B-scan images were obtained by using keyway specimens and an ultrasonic scan system with x-y position controller. The B-scan images were used as input images for 2-Dimensional signal processing, and the algorithm was constructed with four processing stages of pre-processing, crack candidate region detection, crack region classification and crack information extraction. It is confirmed by experiments that the developed algorithm is effective for the quantitative evaluation of cracks generated around the keyway of turbine rotor disk.

  • Nondestructive method can include both testing itself and analysis or evaluation of the testing results. Although vast amount of testing can be accomplished in a fairly short amount of time due to the advancement of electronic technology. it is really difficult matter to identify whether the indication found during testing corresponds to be a real defect. Thus, in ultrasonic testing, advanced digital signal processing techniques have been widely studied in order to identify the shape of the defect during testing, and one of the signal processing techniques, synthetic aperture focusing technique(SAFT) was tried for holes machined in carbon steel plate in this study. Result showed that signal to noise ratio has been improved considerably compared to the result from original RF signals.

  • This Paper Describes a Method for the Evaluation of Sleep Apnea, Namely, the Peak Signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of Wavelet Transformed Electroencephalography (EEG) Data. The Purpose of this Study was to Investigate EEG Properties with Regard to Differences between Sleep Spindles and K-complexes and to Characterize Obstructive Sleep Apnea According to Sleep Stage. We Examined Non-REM and REM Sleep in 20 Patients with OSA and Established a New Approach for Detecting Sleep Apnea Base on EEG Frequency Changes According to Sleep Stage During Sleep Apnea Events. For Frequency Bands Corresponding to A3 Decomposition with a Sampling Applied to the KC and the Sleep Spindle Signal. In this Paper, the KC and Sleep Spindle are Ccalculated using MSE and PSNR for 4 Types of Mother Wavelets. Wavelet Transform Coefficients Were Obtained Around Sleep Spindles in Order to Identify the Frequency Information that Changed During Obstructive Sleep Apnea. We also Investigated Whether Quantification Analysis of EEG During Sleep Apnea is Valuable for Analyzing Sleep Spindles and The K-complexes in Patients. First, Decomposition of the EEG Signal from Feature Data was Carried out using 4 Different Types of Wavelets, Namely, Daubechies 3, Symlet 4, Biorthogonal 2.8, and Coiflet 3. We Compared the PSNR Accuracy for Each Wavelet Function and Found that Mother Wavelets Daubechies 3 and Biorthogonal 2.8 Surpassed the other Wavelet Functions in Performance. We have Attempted to Improve the Computing Efficiency as it Selects the most Suitable Wavelet Function that can be used for Sleep Spindle, K-complex Signal Processing Efficiently and Accurate Decision with Lesser Computational Time.
