A reliable detection of regions in radiography is one of the most important task before the evaluation of defects on welded joints. The extracted features is to be classified into distinctive clusters for each segmented region. But conventional segmentation techniques give unsatisfactory results for this task due to the spatial superposition of intensity and low signal-to-ratio(SNR) in radiographic images. The usage of global or local processes not only provide the necessary noise resistance but also fail in classification of regions. In this paper, we presents an appropriate approach for segmentation of region-based indications in industrial Computed Radiography(CR) images. The geometric differences between welded and non-welded area which is generated on radiography as the representative regions(background, thickness, middle and welded region in steel tube image) have constructed the hierarchical structure. Although this structure is contaminated by noise, the scheme between regions can be selected by the help of local clustering based on distinctive geometric property of each region. Because of the geometric nature of the considered region and so that the region is selected layer by layer, and that the real class represents the boundary between regions, the vertical and horizontal clustering process in each layer must be judicious. In order to show the effectiveness of this approach, a comparative experiment of various segmentation method is performed on industrial steel tube CR images.

Even though extensive research results have been applied to wireless cellular systems to improve their capacity and coverage, severe performance degradation experienced in cell boundary areas still remains as a major limiting factor to prohibit further improvement of user equipment (UE) throughput. In the Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) standard of the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), Some advanced techniques have been introduced to overcome this "cell-edge problem", including coordinated multipoint transmission and reception (CoMP) and inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC). In this paper, we propose yet another strategy to improve the performance of low-tier UEs by using the concept of multiple beam direction patterns (BDPs). Such multiple BDPs can be implemented using multi-layer antenna arrays stacked vertically at base station (BS) sites to transmit signals in different main beam directions. In comparison to conventional three-sector antennas with a fixed beam pattern, the proposed methods makes signal transmission in a rotational fashion to significantly enhance the reception quality of UEs located near sector (or cell) edge areas, preventing the situation where certain UEs are marginally covered by the BS for the whole transmission time. Performance evaluation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional three-sector transmission by 171% in low 5% UEs in terms of the UE throughput.
As a new method to predict the degree of dispersion in carbon nanocomposites, the electrical resistance (ER) method has been evaluated. After CNT epoxy resin was dropped on CF tow, the change in electrical resistance of carbon fiber tow was measured to evaluate dispersion condition in CNT epoxy resin. Good dispersion of CNTs in carbon nanocomposite exhibited low change in ER due to wetted resin penetrated on CF tow. However, because CNT network was formed among CFs, non-uniform dispersion occurred due to nanoparticle filtering effect by CF tow. The change in ER for poor dispersion exhibited large ER signal change. The change in ER was used for the dispersion evaluation of CNT epoxy resin. Correlation between interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and dispersion condition by ER method was established. Good CNT dispersion in nanocomposites led to good interfacial properties of fiberreinforced nanocomposites.
In this experiment, a three dimensional structure analysis was carried out to examine the surface defects of semiconductor made artificially on known scale. It was investigated the three dimensional imaging according to the sample depth and the thermal diffusivity as well as the carrier transport properties. The thermal diffusivity measurement of the intrinsic GaAs semiconductor was also analyzed by the difference of frequency-dependence photoacoustic signals from the sample surface of different conditions. Thermal properties such as thermal diffusion length or thermal diffusivity of the Si wafer with and without defects on the surface were obtained by interpreting the frequency dependence of the PA signals. As a result, the photoacoustic signal is found to have the dependency on the shape and depth of the defects so that their structure of the defects can be analyzed. This method demonstrates the possibility of the application to the detection of the defects, cracks, and shortage of circuits on surface or sub-surface of the semiconductors and ceramic materials as a nondestructive testing(NDT) and a nondestructive evaluation(NDE) technique.
Detection limit as well as calibration curves on organophosphorus pesticide(dimethoate, diazinon, parathion-methyl, fenitrothion, malathion) and BHCs were measured for evaluation of utility on qualitative or quantitative analysis of pesticides with ion Trap mass spectrometer and quadrupole mass spectrometer. As ionization source, EI and CI were adopted for qualitative analysis of pesticides by comparison of each fragmentation pattern. At the same time, the utility as trace analysis techniques through scan or selected ion monitoring(SIM) mode was evaluated. With ion trap for all pesticides, detection limit(DL, 1 ${\mu}L$ injection) on scan mode was ranged 0.008∼0.225 ng at signal to noise ratio 3. With quadrupole DL on scan mode was ranged 0.23∼3.1 ng over 0.032∼0.68 ng on SIM mode. The calibration curve with ion trap generated good linearity over 0.99 as correlation coefficient. As clean up procedure, Bio Beads S-X3 was used for the separation of oils from five organophosphorous pesticides in flour extractant showing more than 80% as recovery at most cases. In case of BHCs in jinseng with Florisil column, the recovery of pesticides has been 60% to 90%.

Objectives In electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) research and practice, the precise determination of seizure duration is important in the evaluation of clinical relevance of the ECT-induced seizure. In this study, we have developed computerized algorithms to assess the duration of ECT-induced seizure. Methods Subjects included 5 males and 6 females, with the mean age of 33.1 years. Total 55 ECT sessions were included in the analysis. We analyzed the standard deviation of a finite block of electroencephalography (EEG) data and the change in the local slope of RR intervals in electrocardiography (ECG) signals during ECT-induced seizure. And then, we compared the calculated seizure durations from EEG recording (EEG algorithm) and ECG recording (ECG algorithm) with values determined by consensus of clinicians based on the recorded EEG (EEG consensus), as a gold standard criterion, in order to testify the computational validity of our algorithms. Results The mean seizure durations calculated by each method were not significantly different in sessions with abrupt flattened postictal suppression and in sessions with non-abrupt flattened postictal suppression. The intraclass correlation coefficients (95% confidence interval) of the three methods (EEG algorithm, ECG algorithm, EEG consensus) were significant in the total sessions [0.79 (0.70-0.86)], the abrupt flattened postictal suppression sessions [0.84 (0.74-0.91)], and the non-abrupt flattened postictal suppression sessions [0.67 (0.45-0.84)]. Correlations between three methods were also statistically significant, regardless of abruptness of transition. Conclusions Our proposed algorithms could reliably measure the duration of ECT-induced seizure, even in sessions with non-abrupt transitions to flat postictal suppression, in which it is typically difficult to determine the seizure duration.

Purpose: Susceptibility vessel sign (SVS) on gradient echo image, which is caused by MR signal loss due to arterial thrombosis, has been reported in acute middle cerebral artery (MCA) infarction. However, the reported sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy of SVS have been variable. Susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) is a newly developed MR sequence. Recent studies have found that SWI may be useful in the field of cerebrovascular diseases, especially for detecting the presence of prominent veins, microbleeds and the SVS. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic values of SWI for the detection of hyperacute MCA occlusion. Materials and Methods: Sixty-nine patients (37 males, 32 females; 46-89 years old [mean, 69.1]) with acute stroke involving the MCA territory underwent MR imaging within 6 hours after the symptom onset. MR examination included T2, FLAIR (fluid-attenuated inversion recovery), DWI, SWI, PWI (perfusion-weighted imaging), contrast-enhanced MR angiography (MRA) and contrast-enhanced T1. Of these patients, 28 patients also underwent digital subtraction angiography (DSA) within 2 hours after MR examination. Presence or absence of SVS on SWI was assessed without knowledge of clinical, DSA and other MR imaging findings. Results: On MRA or DSA, 34 patients (49.3%) showed MCA occlusion. Of these patients, SVS was detected in 30 (88.2%) on SWI. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and diagnostic accuracy of SWI were 88.2%, 97.1%, 96.8%, 89.5% and 92.8%, respectively. Conclusion: SWI was sensitive, specific and accurate for the detection of hyperacute MCA occlusion.

The Fourier series uses a vibrating wave that possesses an amplitude that is like the one of the sine curve. Therefore, the functions used in the Fourier series do not change due to the value of the frequency and that set a limit to express irregular signals with rapid oscillations or with discontinuities in localized regions. However, the wavelet series analysis(WSA) method supplements these limits of the Fourier series by a linear combination of a suitable number of wavelets. By using the wavelet that is focused on time, it is able to give changes to the range in the cycle. Also, this enables to express a signal more efficiently that has singular configuration and that is flowing. The main objective of this study is to propose a scheme called wavelet series analysis for the application of wavelet theory to one-dimensional problems represented by the second-order elliptic equation and to evaluate theperformance of proposed scheme comparing with the finite element analysis. After a through evaluation of different types of wavelets, the HAT wavelet system is chosen as a wavelet function as well as a scaling function. It can be stated that the WSA method is as efficient as the FEA method in the case of axial bars with distributed loads, but the WSA method is more accurate than the FEA method at the singular points and its computation time is less.

In this paper, we design a SSD(simultaneous single band duplex) system using RF cancellation and digital cancellation. And then, we analyze performance of the SSD system using pre-distorter with HPA non-linearity. Also, we analyze digital cancellation performance of the SSD system using pre-distorter with HPA non-linearity. Additionally, digital cancellation cancels residual self-interference. In linear conditions, digital cancellation can cancel self-interference of 40dB. Therefore, the SSD system has good BER performance because most of self-interference is canceled. But, in HPA non-linearity conditions, digital cancellation cancels residual self-interference of 25dB. In this conditions, self-interference is greater than desired signal. Therefore, bit informations of distant station can not be received. But, we confirm that if the proposed system uses pre-distorter then bit information of distant station can be received by HPA non-linearity compensation. Also, we confirm that even though the proposed system uses pre-distorter, if HPA non-linearity increases then digital cancellation performance is degraded by imperfect compensation of HPA non-linerity.
Black soybean has been widely utilized as foods and oriental medicinal materials. The pigmentation in the seed coat of black soybean is due to accumulate anthocyanins in the epidermis palisade layer. The anthocyanins of black soybean seed coat are considered as a parameter of quality evaluation of black soybean. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the most suitable HPLC condition for simultaneous determination of anthocyanins in black soybean seed coats extracts. The efficient HPLC analytical condition of D3G, C3G, and Pt3G contained extracts of black soybean seed coats was developed. The gradient elution employed a $250\;mm\;{\times}\;4.6\;mm$ i.d. YMC-pak ODS-AM 303 column. The gradient system was used two mobile phases. A gradient elution was performed with mobile phase A, consisting of 5% aqueous formic acid, and mobile phase B, comprising 5% formic acid - acetonitrile, and delivered at a flow rate of 0.7 mL/min as follows: $0{\sim}35\;min$, $90%\;A{\sim}60%\;A$; 36 min, 90% A; 46 min, 90% A. The UV-VIS. detection wavelength was set at 520 nm. The limit of detection (LOD) for D3G, C3G, and Pt3G were under 10 ng/mL.
