Man has always striven to create a thermally comfortable environment. This is reflected in building traditions around the world - from ancient history to present day. Today, creating a thermally comfortable environment is still one of the most important parameters to be considered when designing buildings. It is defined in the ISO 7730 standard as being "That condition of mind which expresses satisfaction with the thermal environment". A definition most people can agree on, but also a definition is not easily converted into physical parameters. Thermal comfort is a matter of many physical parameters, and not just one, as for example the air temperature that is set by air-conditioner. The most important matter Today's common offices and homes are only depending on air-conditioning as a cooling system during the summer. This kind of system tends to be focused on the person who controls it and those who are around the air-conditioner while thermal-comfort is neglected. Futhermore, the people's body conditions are not considered during each time that beginning, middle, last of the air-conditioning which causing displeasure of the residents more and more. This kind of operating system is set for a long time may causes unbalanced air condition and man's psychologic displeasure goes to increase.

The directions of the road are divided into two, the right-hand side and left-hand side of the road, by the convention and specific native method in the world. This paper deals with the characteristics and behaviors of drivers who are accustomed to driving on right-hand side of the road, drive with a handle on the left-hand side, and comparing with left-hand side drivers. The driver's eye movements were measured by eye camera and questionnaires were used for measuring subjective evaluation such as driving mental workload. The experimental results indicated even if the experts who had much experience on right-hand side driving, they had lower driving skill than novice driver, accustomed to driving on left-hand side. In terms of mental workload, MCH rating scale and MNASA-TLX, the right-hand side drivers were in lower stress condition than the left-hand side drivers because of having much driving experience. However, they conducted a few mistakes by confusing the position of turn signal and windshield wiper because of their driving habit or traits and it lead to operation mistakes. These results can be applied effectively to develop the driving support information with changed environments.

An effective and precise method using a scanning white-light interferometer (SWLI) for three-dimensional surface measurements, in particular for roughness measurements, has been proposed. The measurement of a microscopically sloped area using an interferometer has limitations, due to the numerical aperture of the lens. In particular, for roughness measurements, it is challenging to obtain accurate height data for a sloped area using the interferometer, due to diffraction of the light. Owing to these optical limitations of the interferometer for roughness measurements, the Ra measurements performed using an interferometer contain errors. To overcome the limitations, we propose a method consisting of the following two steps. First, we evaluate the height data and set the invalid height area to be blank, using the characteristics of the modulus peak, which has a low peak value for signals that have low reliability in the interferogram. Next, we interpolate the blank area using the adjacent reliable area. Rubert roughness standards are used to verify the proposed method. The results obtained by the proposed method are compared to those obtained with a stylus profilometer. For the considered sinusoidal samples, Ra ranges from $0.053{\mu}m$ to $6.303{\mu}m$, and we show that the interpolation method is effective. In addition, the method can be applied to a random surface where Ra ranges from $0.011{\mu}m$ to $0.164{\mu}m$. We show that the roughness results obtained using the proposed method agree well with profilometer results. The $R^2$ values for both sinusoidal and random samples are greater than 0.995.

Next Generation Beyond 4G/5G systems will rely on the deployment of small cells over conventional macrocells for achieving high spectral efficiency and improved coverage performance, especially for indoor and hotspot environments. In such heterogeneous networks, the expected performance gains can only be derived with the use of efficient interference coordination schemes, such as Fractional Frequency Reuse (FFR), which is very attractive for its simplicity and effectiveness. In this work, femtocells are deployed according to a spatial Poisson Point Process (PPP) over hexagonally shaped, 6-sector macro base stations (MeNBs) in an uncoordinated manner, operating in hybrid mode. A newly introduced intermediary region prevents cross-tier, cross-boundary interference and improves user equipment (UE) performance at the boundary of cell center and cell edge. With tools of stochastic geometry, an analytical framework for the signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) distribution is developed to evaluate the performance of all UEs in different spatial locations, with consideration to both co-tier and cross-tier interference. Using the SINR distribution framework, average network throughput per tier is derived together with a newly proposed harmonic mean, which ensures fairness in resource allocation amongst all UEs. Finally, the FFR network parameters are optimized for maximizing average network throughput, and the harmonic mean using a fair resource assignment constraint. Numerical results verify the proposed analytical framework, and provide insights into design trade-offs between maximizing throughput and user fairness by appropriately adjusting the spatial partitioning thresholds, the spectrum allocation factor, and the femtocell density.

Finger patients can't use their hands because of the paralysis their fingers. Their fingers are recovered by rehabilitating training, and the rehabilitating extent can be judged by measuring the pressing force to be contacted with two fingers(thumb and first finger, thumb and middle finger, thumb and ring finger, thumb and little finger). At present, most hospitals have used a thin plastic-plate for measuring the two-finger grasping force, and we can only judge that they can grasp the plate with their two-finger through it, because the plate can't measure the two-finger grasping force. But, recently, the force measuring system for measuring two-finger grasping force was developed using three-axis force sensor, but it is very expensive, because it has a three-axis force sensor. In this paper, two-finger force measuring system with a one-axis force sensor which can measure two-finger grasping force was developed. The one-axis force sensor was designed and fabricated, and the force measuring device was designed and manufactured using DSP(Digital Signal Processing). Also, the grasping force test of men was performed using the developed two-finger force measuring system, it was confirmed that the grasping forces of men were different according to grasping methods, and the system can be used for measuring two-finger grasping force.

This paper studies on mechanical properties, fractures, and ultrasonic characteristics of Pure Titanium welds using ultrasonic attenuation. Ti specimen was made by using AR purge gas. When the titanium weld specimen is fractured, Tensile tests were conducted in order to observe the ultrasonic signal changes. A scanning electron microscope(SEM) was used to observe changes in failure surface and an ultrasonic normal probe with the central frequency of 4 MHz was used to obtain ultrasonic signals. As a result, the value of the mechanical properties in the weld zone was lower than that in the base zone and heat affected zone(HAZ) from Ti. Also the grain size in the weld zone was bigger than that in the weld zone and HAZ from Ti. Ultrasonic signals using a RMS method presents correlation between envelope area and the tensile strength. Consequently, the ultrasonic method could be potential tool for integrity evaluation of the Ti weld zone.

Among the various elements affecting a customer's evaluation of automobile quality, buzz, squeak and rattle (BSR) are considered to be major factors. In most vehicle manufacturers, the BSR problems are solved by find-fix method with the vehicle road test, mainly due to various excitation sources, complex generation mechanism and subjective response. The aim of this paper is to develop the integrated experimental method to systematically tackle the BSR problems in early stage of the vehicle development cycle by resolving these difficulties. To achieve this aim, the developed experimental method ought to include the following requirements: to find and fix the BSR problem for modules instead of a full vehicle in order to tackle the problem in the early stage of the vehicle development cycle; to develop the exciter system including the zig and road-input-signal reproducing algorithm; to automatically localize the source region of BSR; to develop sound quality index that can be used to assess the subjective responses to BSR. Also, the BSR sound quality indexes based on the Zwicker's sound quality parameters using a multiple regression analysis. The four sound metrics from Zwicker's sound quality parameter are computed for the signals recorded for eight BSR noise source regions localized by using the acoustic-field visualized results. Then, the jury test of BSR noise are performed for participants. On a basis of the computed sound metrics and jury test result, sound quality index is developed to represent the harsh of BSR noise. It is expected that the developed BSR detection system and sound quality indexes can be used to reduce the automotive interior BSR noise in terms of subjective levels as well as objective levels.
An electrical signals of a conventional radiation medical imaging sensor are obtained by charge integration method. In this study, the polycrystalline cadmium telluride(p-CdTe) film was fabricated by a thermal evaporation method for the photon counting sensor development with excellent resolution in low exposure dose. From the fabricated p-CdTe sensor, the physical properties(SEM, XRD) and the electrical properties(leakage current, x-ray sensitivity, SNR) were evaluated. As a result, the leakage current of below $5nA/cm^2$ and $7{\mu}C/cm^2-R$ of the X-ray sensitivity were showed in below $1V/{\mu}m$. In addition, the signal to noise ratio showed the values of above 5000 at operating voltage.
The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing phase split algorithm considering the minimum green time in COSMOS. In the case of a signalized intersection where two wide and narrow streets intersect each other, the time required for the pedestrian crossing is frequently longer than the time alloted to the through traffic on a minor street. In order to meet the minimum green time requirement for the pedestrian less time in alloted automatically to the left-turn traffic, creating heavy congestion on the left-turn approach. To solve this problem, this study suggests a new algorithm which shares the barrier using minimum green time and shares the burden with signal phases alloted to the crossing street traffic on the basis of the equal ratio of the degree of saturation, while maintaining the minimum green time requirement. The new algorithm was compared with the existing algorithm by using a microscopic simulation model for COSMOS evaluation developed at Ajou University. The simulation results show that the new algorithm produces better performance than the existing one.

There are so many methods to estimate the groundwater recharge. These methods can be categorized into four groups. First groupis related to the water balance analysis, second group is concerned with baseflow/springflow recession, and third group is interested in some types of tracers; environmental tracers and/or temperature profile. The limitation of these types of methods is that the estimated results of recharge are presented in the form of an average over some time period. Forth group has a little different approach. They use the time series data of hydraulic head and specific yield evaluated from field test, and the results of estimation are described in the sequential form. But their approach has a serious problem. The estimated results in forth typeof methods are generally underestimated because they cannot consider the discharge phase of water table fluctuation coupled with the recharge phase. Ketchum el. at. (2000) proposed calibrated method, considering recharge- and discharge-coupled water table fluctuation. But the dischargeis considered just as the areal average with discharge rate. On the other hand, there are many methods to estimate the source wavelet with observed data set in geophysics/signal processing and geophysical methods are rarely applied to the estimation of groundwater recharge. The purpose this study is the evaluation of the applicability of one of the geophysical method in the estimation of sequential recharge rate. The applied geophysical method is called minimum entropy deconvolution (MED). For this purpose, numerical modeling with linearized Boussinesq equation was applied. Using the synthesized hydraulic head through the numerical modeling, the relative sequenceof recharge is calculated inversely. Estimated results are very concordant with the applied recharge sequence. Cross-correlations between applied recharge sequence and the estimated results are above 0.985 in all study cases. Through the numerical test, the availability of MED in the estimation of the recharge sequence to groundwater was investigated
