Noise reduction method using a variance map of the phase differences in digital holographic microscopy

  • The phase reconstruction process in digital holographic microscopy involves a trade-off between the phase error and the high-spatial-frequency components. In this reconstruction process, if the narrow region of the sideband is windowed in the Fourier domain, the phase error from the DC component will be reduced, but the high-spatial-frequency components will be lost. However, if the wide region is windowed, the 3D profile will include the high-spatial-frequency components, but the phase error will increase. To solve this trade-off, we propose the high-variance pixel averaging method, which uses the variance map of the reconstructed depth profiles of the windowed sidebands of different sizes in the Fourier domain to classify the phase error and the high-spatial-frequency components. Our proposed method calculates the average of the high-variance pixels because they include the noise from the DC component. In addition, for the nonaveraged pixels, the reconstructed phase data created by the spatial frequency components of the widest window are used to include the high-spatialfrequency components. We explain the mathematical algorithm of our proposed method and compare it with conventional methods to verify its advantages.

RTL-SDR을 이용한 스테레오 주파수 변조 방송의 실시간 수신기 구현 (Implementation of Real-time Stereo Frequency Demodulator Using RTL-SDR)

  • 주파수 변조 방식의 방송 주파수에 동조되는 안테나와 Realtek 사(社)의 RTL2832 칩을 이용하는 디지털 TV용 튜너와 아날로그-디지털 변환기로 구성되는 universal serial bus (USB) 동글을 이용하여 스테레오 주파수 변조 방송의 실시간 수신기를 컴퓨터의 소프트웨어로 구현한다. 아날로그 방송 신호가 USB 동글에서 디지털 신호로 변환되고 이진 데이터를 컴퓨터에서 매트랩 및 파이선 프로그래밍 언어의 신호처리 기법을 이용하여 저역 통과 필터, 대역 통과 필터, 주파수 판별기, 양측파대 진폭 복조, 위상 고정 루프. 샘플링 변환, 디앰퍼시스 등의 기능 블록을 설계한다. 최종적으로 수신기의 실시간 구현을 위하여 파이선 및 C++로 구성되는 그누라디오 (GNU Radio)를 이용하여 수신기 알고리즘을 소프트웨어로 구현한다.

  • WLAN 및 이동통신은 계속해서 많은 서로 다른 표준으로 진화함에 따라 이동통신 사업자는 기술적 경제적 많은 어려움에 직면하고 있다. 따라서 끊임없는 시스템 업그레이드가 필요하게 된다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 새로운 접근 방법을 모색하여 그 타당성을 연구하였다. 즉, electro-absorption modulator(EAM) 과 optical single sideband (OSSB)에 기반한 radio over fiber (RoF) 기술을 사용해 저가, 단순, 주파수변화 및 프로토콜 변화가 없는 트랜스패런트한 무선 액세스 망을 구축하여 그 해결책을 제시하였다. 본 논문에서는 프로토타입 CATV 용 60GHz 대 무선 RoF 분배시스템을 구축하여 broadband convergence network (BcN)의 무선 액세스망에 사용가능성을 타진하였다.

CSB용 J급 전력증폭기 설계 및 바이어스에 따른 진폭 변조 특성 (Design and Amplitude Modulation Characteristics with Bias of Class J Power Amplifier for CSB)

  • 본 논문은 LDMOS(laterally diffused metal oxide semiconductor)를 이용하여 동작점 Class J를 적용하고, 2차 하모닉 임피던스가 리액턴스 임피던스가 되도록 출력 정합회로를 최적화하여 고효율 전력증폭기를 설계 하였다. 설계한 전력증폭기는 주파수가 108 ~ 110 MHz에서, 전력부가효율(PAE; power added efficiency)은 PSAT 출력(54.5 dBm)에서 71.5%, P1dB 출력(51.5 dBm)에서 55.5%, 그리고 45 dBm에서 24.38%의 특성을 보였다. 공간변조 방식에서의 기준 신호인 CSB(carrier with sideband) 전력증폭기는 운용 출력이 45 dBm ~ 35 dBm이며, 그 출력에서 선형적인 SDM(sum in the depth of modulation) 특성(40% ± 0.3%)을 얻었다. 전력증폭기의 바이어스 동작점에 따른 진폭 변조도 특성를 측정하고, 선형적인 변조도 특성을 얻을 수 있는 최적의 동작점을 제안한다.

Microwave Signal Spectrum Broadening System Based on Time Compression

  • We propose and experimentally demonstrate an all-optical radio frequency (RF) spectrum broadening system based on time compression. By utilizing the procedure of dispersion compensation values, the frequency domain is broadened by compressing the linear chirp optical pulse which has been multiplexed by the radio frequency. A detailed mathematical description elucidates that the time compression is a very preferred scheme for spectrum broadening. We also report experimental results to prove this method, magnification factor at 2.7, 8 and 11 have been tested with different dispersion values of fiber, the experimental results agree well with the theoretical results. The proposed system is flexible and the magnification factor is determined by the dispersion values, the proposed scheme is a linear system. In addition, the influence of key parameters, for instance optical bandwidth and the sideband suppression ratio (SSR), are discussed. Magnification factor 11 of the proposed system is demonstrated.

  • ATSC(Advanced Television Systems Committee) DTV(Digital Television) 시스템은 주파수 동기획득에 FPLL(Frequency and Phase Lock Loop)을 사용한다. FPLL은 오직 파일럿 신호만을 이용하기 때문에 파일럿 크기가 작을수록 주파수 수렴범위가 좁아지고 수렴속도가 늦어진다. 또한 파일럿 주위의 스펙트럼 모양에 따라서 양과 음의 주파수 오프셋에 대한 수렴범위에 비대칭성이 나타난다. 본 논문은 주파수 수렴범위의 비대칭성을 극복하고, 파일럿 왜곡 시에도 주파수 동기를 획득하도록 만들기 위해 VSB(Vestigial Sideband) 스펙트럼 양끝에 필터를 설치하고, 이 필터를 통과한 신호의 전력량을 이용하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘을 사용함으로써 비대칭적으로 좁아지는 수렴범위의 문제점과 파일럿 왜곡에 따른 성능 열화를 보완할 수 있다.

호이스트 기어박스의 소음불량률 저감을 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study to Reduce the Fraction of Noise Defect of Hoist Gear Boxes)

  • This paper deals with the experimental research, including measurement and analysis and field survey, on the causes of occurring noise defective gear boxes in hoist production plant in order to reduce the fraction of their occurrence. In this reserch following investigations are performed : measurement and gear-boxes, examination of each machining process of production, measurement and analysis of dimensional accuracy of each part, comparative vibration test with exchanging inaccurate parts. From these investigations, it is found that the machining accuracy of pinion gear tooth thickness is the most sensitive factor of noise problem. By maintaining the tooth thickness error within 0.05 mm tolerance in the gear cutting process, the fraction of noise defective gear-boxes are greatly reduced to less than 2%, where the usual rate of it has been 20-50%.

고압유도전동기의 회전자 결함요인 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Analysis of Defects cause for Rotor in the High Voltage Induction Motors)

  • In this paper, diagnosis for 85 high voltage induction motors which have operated for more than 20 years in 18 wide area water supply offices were applied and the results of diagnosis were analysed. Furthermore, main factors that would be affecting rotor defects were selected and correlations between dependent variables which was magnitude for sideband frequency on current during operation and independent variables such as starting characteristic, operating time, number of operation, load factor, maker, rotation speed, capacity were analysed. It was clear that factors including starting characteristic, number of operation, maker, rotation speed caused break by correlation analysis. From this, regression equation was deduced through regression analysis. Based on suggested regression equation, it is applied usefully that we can estimate the condition of rotor without onsite diagnosis and plan the schedule of diagnosis.

  • This paper characterizes the electromechanical parameters due to the fault of rotor bars in a squirrel cage induction motor. Simulation is performed to investigate how broken rotor bars have effect on them by solving the time-stepping finite element equation coupled with magnetic field equation, circuit equation and mechanical equation of motion. It shows that the asymmetry of magnetic flux due to the broken rotor bar introduces the beating phenomenon in time domain and the sideband frequencies in frequency spectra, respectively, to the stator current, torque, speed, magnetic force and vibration of a rotor. However, vibration of a rotor would be the most effective monitoring parameters to detect the faults of rotor bars.

Reducing speckle artifacts in digital holography through programmable filtration

  • We propose a speckle reduction technique in electronic holographic display systems, where digital micro-mirror array devices are used as spatial light modulators. By adopting a programmable filtration in a general 4-f optic configuration, it is shown that the signal spectrum components in the frequency domain of a viewing-window-based holographic display system can be selectively filtered. Compared to the widely utilized single-sideband filtration techniques in electronic holographic display systems, our proposed programmable filtration can be utilized to effectively reduce the speckles in the reconstruction of point-cloud-based computer-generated holograms. Experimental results are presented to verify our proposed concept.
