  • The side information in the distributed video coding system is generated using motion compensated interpolation methods. Since the accuracy of the generated side information affects the amount of parity bits for the reconstruction of Wyner-Ziv frame, it is important to produce an accurate side information. In this paper, we analyze the informance of various side information generation methods and propose an effective side information generation technique. Also, we compare each side information generation methods from the hardware point of view and analyze the performance of distributed video coding system using various side information generation methods.

  • In the Wyner-Ziv coding, compression performance highly depends on the quality of the side information since better quality of side information brings less channel noise and less parity bit. However, as decoder generates side information without any knowledge of the current Wyner-Ziv frame, it doesn't have optimal criterion to decide which block is more advantageous to generate better side information. Hence, in general, fixed block size motion estimation (ME) is performed in generating side information. By the fixed block size ME, the best coding performance cannot be attained since some blocks are better to be motion estimated in different block sizes. Therefore if there is a way to find appropriate ME block of each block, the quality of the side information might be improved. In this paper, we investigate the effects of variable block sizes of ME in generating side information.

  • Distributed video coding (DVC) is a new coding paradigm that enables to exploit the statistics among sources only in decoder and to achieve extremely low complex video encoding without any loss of coding efficiency. Wyner-Ziv coding, a particular implementation of DVC, reconstructs video by correcting noise on side information using channel code. Since a good quality of side information brings less noise to be removed by the channel code, generation of good side information is very important for the overall coding efficiency. However, if there are complex motions among frames, it is very hard to generate a good quality of side information without any information of original frame. In this paper, we propose a method to enhance the quality of the side information using small amount of additional information of original frame in the form of hash. By decoder's informing encoder where the hash has to be transmitted, side information can be improved enormously with only small amount of hash data. Therefore, the proposed method gains considerable coding efficiency. Results of our experiment have verified average PSNR gain up to 1 dB, when compared to the well-known DVC codec, known as DISCOVER codec.

  • In this study, we have investigated optimum value for side gate length and side gate voltage of double gate (DG) MOSFET with main gate and side gate. We know that optimum side gate voltage for each side length is about 3V. Also, we know that optimum side gate length for each main gate length is about 70nm. We have presented the transconductance and subthreshold slope for each side gate length. We have simulated using ISE-TCAD tool for characteristics analysis of device.

  • In this paper, we have investigated characteristics of C-V for double gate MOSFET with main gate and side gate by the variation of side sate length and side gate voltage. Main gate voltage is changed from -5V to +5V. We know that characteristics of C-V is good under the condition of LSG=70nm, VSG=3V, VD=2V. We have analyze characteristics of device by ISE-TCAD.

  • This study deals with the experiment of perceiving visual information according to the positions of vehicle side mirrors. In the design of vehicle, the consideration of safety is very important. Therefore we consider the positions of side mirrors to use visual information effectively which is important factor to driver. This paper presents the position of side mirror to elevate the degree of visual perception for the circumstances of danger by experiments. To exhibit the circumstances of danger. 4 LED(Light Emitted Diode) art located at each side(right. left front. hack) of vehicle. A subject pushes the LED switch to see that if he perceives the circumstance of danger. To record the circumstance of randomly generated danger, computer interface card is used to control 4 LED and swithch on IBM PC/AT Experiments are divided into 2 parts. The 1st experiment present the independence of right & left side mirror. The 2nd experiment present optimal position of right & left side mirror. The vehicle used in experiment is model EL of H Co.. Statistical process of experimental data using SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Sciences)/PC package concludes that 1) the optimal position of right side mirror is 54cm forward of exist position. 2) for the left side mirror, the position of 120cm forward of exist position shows the worst degree of perception. and the optimal position does not exist in statistical meaning.

  • Background: This study aimed to assess the most common physical side effects experienced by local chemotherapy patients. Their perceptions of these side effects and informational needs from clinical pharmacists were also evaluated. Materials and Methods: This was a single-center, cross-sectional study. A face-to-face interview guided by a structured questionnaire with cancer patients admitted to receive repeated cycles of chemotherapy was conducted. Information collected included chemotherapy-related side effects after last chemotherapy experience, the most worrisome side effects, the side effects overlooked by healthcare professionals and the preferred method, amount and source of receiving related information. Results: Of 99 patients recruited, 90 participated in this survey (response rate: 90.9%). The majority were in the age range of 45-64 years (73.3%) and female (93.3%). Seventy-five (83.3%) and seventy-one (78.9%) experienced nausea and vomiting, respectively. Both symptoms were selected as two of the most worrisome side effects (16.7% vs. 33.3%). Other common and worrisome side effects were hair loss and loss of appetite. Symptoms caused by peripheral neuropathies were perceived as the major symptoms being overlooked (6.7%). Most patients demanded information about side effects (60.0%) and they would like to receive as much information as possible (86.7%). Oral conversation (83.3%) remained as the preferred method and the clinical pharmacist was preferred by 46.7% of patients as the educator in this aspect. Conclusions: The high prevalence of chemotherapy-related side effects among local patients is of concern. Findings of their perceptions and informational needs may serve as a valuable guide for clinical pharmacists to help in side effect management in Malaysia.

  • PTS(partial transmit sequences) has been widely studied for reducing the PAPR of OFDM signal, since it is flexible and any spectral regrowth may not occurred. A drawback of this PTS method should transmit the side information of the optimized phase factor for correct OFDM symbol recovery. A new idea of this paper is to insert the feedback type side information in the conventional PTS method. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme has the same PAPR reduction performance as the conventional PTS without side information and OFDM data are correctly recovered to get the required BER. Also, this method is independent of the channel characteristics and can be easily realized.

  • In this study, we collect various side effect pairs which are appeared frequently at many drugs, and select side effect pairs that have higher severity. For every selected side effect pair, we extract common genetic networks which are shared by side effects' genes and drugs' target genes based on PPI(Protein-Protein Interaction) network. For this work, firstly, we gather drug related data, side effect data and PPI data. Secondly, for extracting common genetic network, we find shortest paths between drug target genes and side effect genes based on PPI network, and integrate these shortest paths. Thirdly, we develop a classification model which uses this common genetic network as a classifier. We calculate similarity score between the common genetic network and genetic network of a drug for classifying the drug. Lastly, we validate our classification model by means of AUC(Area Under the Curve) value.

  • Side-channel attacks are a quiet mighty type of attack that targets specific physical implementations vulnerabilities. Even though several researchers have examined diverse means and methods of detecting side-channel attacks, at the present time a systematic review of these approaches does not exist. The purposes of this paper are to give an extensive analysis of literature on side-channel attack detection and offer intuitiveness from past research studies. In this study, a literature survey is conducted on articles related to side-channel attack detection between 2020 and 2022 from ACM and IEEE digital libraries. From the 10 publications included in the study, it appears they target either a single type of side-channel attacks or multiple types of side-channel attacks. Therefore, a vital review of each of the two categories is provided, as well as possible prospective research in this field of study.
