ICP-Assisted DC Sputtering 방법을 이용한 Ge 박막의 저온 결정 성장 연구

  • 단일 결정의 Ge 박막은 0.67 eV의 작은 밴드갭을 가지고 있기에 장파장의 빛을 흡수하기 위한 목적으로 태양전지 분야에서 집중적인 연구가 진행되어지고 있다. 또한, Si에 비하여 높은 전하 이동도를 가지고 있기에 박막 트랜지스터로의 응용 연구들이 진행되고 있는 중이다. 전자 소자로써 큰 효과를 가지고 오기 위해서는 양질의 Ge 결정박막을 성장하여야 한다. 이를 위하여 다양한 공정 방법으로 Ge 박막의 결정성 향상에 대한 연구들을 진행하고 있다. 그중 본 연구에서는 ICP-assisted DC sputtering 방법을 이용하여 저온(${\sim}230^{\circ}C$) Ge 박막 결정성장에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. Ge 박막을 유리기판(Eagle 2000) 위에 증착하였으며, $6{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr 이하의 기본 압력에서 공정을 진행하였다. 7 mTorr의 Ar 분위기에서 타겟에 인가되는 전압 및 전류를 변화 시키며 Ge 박막 증착에 미치는 영향에 대해서 연구를 진행하였다. 기본적인 DC sputtering 방법을 이용하여 박막을 증착하였을 경우 증착한 모든 샘플에서 결정성을 확인하였으며, 낮은 전압에서도 결정화가 일어나는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 전압을 증가시켜도 결정화 정도가 일정하게 유지됨을 확인 할 수 있었다. 다만 이 경우에는 결정의 방향이 랜덤하게 형성되었으며, DC sputtering 방법을 이용하여 저온에서 공정을 진행하였기에 박막은 수십 nm의 columnar grain을 형성하였다. ICP를 이용한 DC sputtering 방법을 이용하여 박막을 증착 하였을 경우, 일정 전압 이하에서는 비정질의 Ge 박막이 균일하게 형성됨을 확인 할 수 있었으며, 이후 결정화 정도가 타겟에 인가되는 전압에 비례하여 증가하였다. 또한, 이때 증착된 Ge 박막은 단일 결정으로 형성되었음을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이는 박막 성장시 ICP에 의해서 생성된 Ar 이온이 표면으로 가속화됨으로 인하여 Ge 박막 표면에서 channeling 효과가 나타남으로 인하여 <110> 방향으로 결정이 정열된 것으로 보인다.

일부(一部) 농촌지역(農村地域) 여고생(女高生)의 영양실태(營養實態)및 혈액상(血液像)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Survey of Nutrition and Blood Pictures of Senior High School Girls in a Korean Rural Area)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the proper nutritional management, and help to improve the health of girl students in a rural area. The nutritional survey, and blood sampling was conducted for five days, from April 26 to 30, 1983. The subjects of this survey were 110 students of girl's high school in Cheongyang area. The results were summerized as follows; 1) The daily food intake was 842.3g and that of animal foods was 34.4g. The average intake of calorie, protein, Ca, Fe, thiamin, riboflavin and niacin except Vit. A and Vit. C was below the RDA. Total calorie intake was l,802kcal. The ratio of carbohydrate, protein and fat was 81:11:8. 2) The extent of malnutrition was explained in terms of the amount of calorie, protein, Ca, Fe, and Vit. C. The predicted percentage of deficiency was 47.3% in calorie, 46.4% in protein, 61.8% in Ca, 48.2% in Fe, and 15.5% in Vit C of total subjects. 3) The mean values of Hgb, Hct and MCHC were 13.15g/dl, 39.57% and 33.2%, thus, the anemic prevalences were 10.9%, 2% and 78.2% respectively. The mean values of SI.TIBCand TS were $109.86{\mu}g$/61, $317.11{\mu}g/dl$ and 34.59%. 4) The correlation between the economic levels and nutrients intake was significant. Correlation between weight and nutrients intake was also significant but nutrients intake was not significantly correlated to blood contents.

Molecular Identification of Sarcocystis grueneri in Wild Korean Water Deer (Hydropotes inermis argyropus)

  • The cysts of Sarcocystis grueneri were detected and characterized from the cardiac muscles of the Korean water deer (Hydropotes inermis argyropus). Of the 38 heart muscle samples examined by light microscopy, 10 were found infected with the cysts of Sarcocystis sp. The cysts appeared oval to spherical shape and measured $110-380{\mu}m$ in length and $90-170{\mu}m$ in width. A phylogenetic tree of the 18S rRNA sequences (1.5 kb) revealed a close relationship of the infected cysts to genus Sarcocystis. The 18S rRNA sequence of the infected cysts showed 100% identity to S. grueneri and 97% to S. capracanis. Here, we first report the S. grueneri infections in the Korean water deer.

Ta Doped SnO2 Transparent Conducting Films Prepared by PLD

  • Transparent and conducting thin films of Ta-doped $SnO_2$ were fabricated on a glass substrate by a pulse laser deposition(PLD) method. The structural, optical, and electrical properties of these films were investigated as a function of doping level, oxygen partial pressure, substrate temperature, and film thickness. XRD results revealed that all the deposited films were polycrystalline and the intensity of the (211) plane of $SnO_2$ decreased with an increase of Ta content. However, the orientation of the films changed from (211) to (110) with an increase in oxygen partial pressure (40 to 100 mTorr) and substrate temperature. The crystallinity of the films also increased with the substrate temperature. The electrical resistivity measurements showed that the resistivity of the films decreased with an increase in Ta doping, which exhibited the lowest resistivity (${\rho}{\sim}1.1{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$) for 10 wt% Ta-doped $SnO_2$ film, and then increased further. However, the resistivity continuously decreased with the oxygen partial pressure and substrate temperature. The optical bandgap of the 10 wt% Ta-doped $SnO_2$ film increased (3.67 to 3.78 eV) with an increase in film thickness from 100-700 nm, and the figure of merit revealed an increasing trend with the film thickness.

벼재배시 헤어리벳치 녹비의 이용 효과 (Effect of Hairy Vetch as Green Manue on Rice Cultivation)

  • 본 시험은 겨울철 논에 헤어리벳치를 재배후 토양에 환원시키는 방법과 헤어리벳치 환원후 벼를 재배하였을 때 생육 및 쌀 수량에 미치는 영향을 구명하고자 1999년부터 2001년까지 3년간 작물시험장 논에서 수행되었으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 헤어리벳치의 환원시기별 쌀 수량은 이앙 1주전 환원에 비하여 이앙 2~3 주전 환원시 7% 증가되었으며, 화학 질소비료를 무시용하고 벼를 재배할 수 있는 헤어리벳치의 적정 환원량은 $15{\sim}20ton\;ha^{-1}$이었고, 환원량이 $25ton\;ha^{-1}$일 경우 도복이 심하여 안전재배가 우려되었다. 헤어리벳치를 $20ton\;ha^{-1}$환원시 관행(질소 $110kg\;ha^{-1}$)에 비하여 $m^2$당 수수가 20% 증가되어 수량이 6% 정도 증가되었으며, 백미의 완전립 비율은 관행과 유사하였다.

Interspecific Differences of the Capacities on Excessive Soil Moisture Stress for Upland Crops in Converted Paddy Field

  • The interspecific estimation for tolerance capacities of upland crop species to excessive soil water stress in paddy field is significant in agricultural practices. Most of upland crops can be damaged by either excessive soil water or capillary rise of the water table during rainy season in paddy fields. The major objective of this study was to evaluate water stress of upland crops under different drainage classes in converted paddy field. This experiment was carried out in poorly drained soil (PDS) and imperfectly drained soil (IDS) of alluvial sloping area located at Toero-ri, Bubuk-myeon, Miryang-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. The soil was Gagog series, which was a member of the fine silty, mixed, nonacid, mesic family of Aeric Endoaquepts (Low Humic-Gley soils). Two drainage methods, namely under Open ditch drainage methods (ODM) and, Closed pipe drainage methods (PDM) were installed within 1-m position at the lower edge of the upper paddy fields. The results showed that sum of excess water days ($SWD_{30}$), which was used to represent the moisture stress index, was 42 days (the lowest) in the PDM compared with 110 days in the ODM. Most of upland crops were more susceptible to excessive soil water during panicle initial stage on more PDS than on IDS. Yield of upland crops in the PDM was continuously increased by the rate of 15.1% on sorghum, 15.4% foxtail millet, 53.6% proso millet, 49.6% soybean and 47.9% adzuki bean as compared in the ODM. The capacity for tolerance by excessive soil water based on yield of each upland crop in the poorly drained sloping paddy fields was the order of sorghum, soybean, foxtail millet, proso millet and adzuki bean. Therefore, Sorghum is relatively tolerant to excessive soil water conditions and, may be grown successfully in converted paddy field.

수박쥬스의 알콜발효에 관한 연구 (Alcohol Fermentation of Korean Watermelon Juice)

  • 수박은 소비자가 즐겨 먹는 신선한 과일로서 저장성이 낮아 손실향이 많을 뿐만 아니라 여름 한철만 소비자에게 공급할 수 있는 단점이 있어 이의 저장성 및 이용성을 높이고자 수박쥬스의 알콜발효를 연구하였다. 수박쥬스속에는 3.2%의 환원당이 함유되어 있었으며, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Kluyveromyces fragilis와 Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. ellipsoideus 세균주를 사용하여 pH, 온도, 당 농도가 알콜발효에 미치는 영향을 조사한 결과, 수박쥬스에 glucose를 12% 첨가하고 pH 5.73 및 온도 $27^{\circ}C$에서 Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. ellipsoideus를 2% 접종시켰을 때, 발효 8일째 최대치인 5.3%의 알콜을 생성함을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 알콜 발효에 있어서 nitrogen sources와 여러 무기염류가 발효에 약간의 영향을 미친다는 사실을 알게 되었으며, 살균방법에 있어서는 $SO_2$ 처리$(K_2S_2O_5\;110ppm)$ 보다 고온 살균($121^{\circ}C$, 15분)하였을때 살균효과가 높을 뿐만 아니라 알콜 생성량도 높았다.

Effect of a Workplace-Based Work-Conditioning Program on Management of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a workplace-based work-conditioning program (WCP) on the management of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMDs) in an automobile-parts manufacturing company. In total, 1,110 subjects with WRMDs participated in workplace-based WCP emphasizing function-centered management and ergonomics. We investigated the incidence of WRMDs variables (number of persons diagnosed with industrial accident-related WHMDs, number of cases of WRMD) and financial benefits (cost of workers' compensation insurance and lost work days related to WRMDs) per year before and after WCP. Additionally, we compared self-reported pain intensity and functional disability in subjects with musculoskeletal pain before and after the WCP. Pain intensity was measured using a visual analog scale (VAS), and functional disability was measured by the neck disability index (NDI) and the Oswestry disability Index (ODI). The number of person diagnosed with industrial accident-related WRMDs, the number of cases of WRMD, the cost of workers' compensation insurance and lost work days related to WRMDs per year decreased by 51%, 37%, 34%, and 47%, respectively, and VAS, NDI, and ODI scores decreased significantly after implementation of WCP (p<.05). Thus, the results of the present study suggest that function-centered, workplace-based WCP was effective in managing WRMDs at an automobile-parts manufacturing company.

철강공정 배기가스로부터 가스 하이드레이트 형성에 미치는 촉진제의 영향 (Effects of Promoter on the Formation of Gas Hydrate from Blast Furnace Gas)

  • 본 연구에서는 가스 하이드레이트 기술을 이용하여 철강 공정 배기가스로부터 $CO_2$를 분리하는데 사용하는 여러 촉진제의 성능을 조사하였다. 이 실험에서는 $CO_2/N_2$ 혼합가스 ($CO_2/N_2$=20/80, 40/60)와 $CO_2/N_2$ 이외에 CO, $H_2$가 첨가된 Blast furnace gas (BFG) 모델 가스를 대상 가스로 사용하였다. 촉진제로는 구조 II 하이드레이트를 형성한다고 알려진 tetrahydrofuran (THF), propylene oxide, 1,4-dioxane 를 사용하였으며, 각 가스에 대하여 촉진제를 농도별로 첨가했을 때 상평형점의 변화를 측정하였다. 상평형점은 "연속" Quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) 방식을 이용하였다. 또한, Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) 분석을 통하여 촉진제의 첨가가 가스 하이드레이트 구조에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다.

Antiviral activity of Herba Patrinea (a Chinese medicinal herb) against respiratory syncytial virus in vitro

  • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) has long been considered an important cause of severe lower respiratory tract infection in infants and young children throughout the world. Unfortunately, no effective treatment of RSV exists. Therefore, New agents are needed to reduce the impact of RSV. We have studied the anti-viral effect of traditional Chinese midicinal herbs for over ten years and find Herba Patrinea (a Chinese medicinal herb) has the anti-RSV effect in vitro. In this study, the Herba Patrinea was extracted with hot water, condensed and sterilized. The cytotoxicity of the aqueous extract was tested by adding the diluted extract directly to HeLa cells and its effect on anti-RSV was estimated by the CPEI assay. As a result, the median cytotoxic concentration $(CC_{50})$ of Herba Patrinea was 32 mg/ ml by morphological observation, the median effective concentration (50% effective concentration, $EC_{50}$) of the Herba Patrinea against replication of the Long strain of RSV in HeLa cells were 1.25 mg/ml. The selectivity index $(SI=CC_{50}/EC{50})$ is 25.6. Moreover, Herba Patrinea gave a dose-dependent response in inhibiting RSV. In time of addition experiment, Herba Patrinea inhibited replication of RSV in HeLa cells when it was added at 0h, 2h, and 4h after virus infection. In summary, the results of this study suggest Herba Patrinea may be a novel anti-RSV drug and it is worthy of further studying.
