  • This research examines the use of Cross Bearing in the Republic of Korea Navy. Specifically, this study focuses on the degrees of errors caused by the order of measuring targets and suggests a new method to determine Advice Course. It then reviews the appropriateness of the contents of Location Report that is regularly to the duty officer during a voyage in a narrow channel. Whenever a naval vessel passes through a narrow channel, many number of sailors are assigned to diverse positions in order to enhance navigational safety. Even though it is possible to easily recognize the location of a ship with helps of various kinds of navigational equipments using state-of-the-art technology, there are still several situations where sailors' efforts are indispensible for calculating the position of their ship : when the ship is damaged during an engagement with enemies and when the enemies interfere (GPS) signals. In addition, the particularity of naval vessels in which many number of crew members can be assigned to various positions supports for the suitability of the use of Cross Bearing in the Navy. This study will contribute to navigational safety of the ROK Navy and fostering junior naval officers' seamanship.

  • Eco-friendly and renewable energy sources are actively being researched in recent times, and of shore wind power generation requires advanced design technologies in terms of increasing the capacities of wind turbines and enlarging wind turbine installation vessels (WTIVs). The WTIV ensures that the hull is situated at a height that is not affected by waves. The most important part of the WTIV is the leg structure, which must respond dynamically according to the wave, current, and wind loads. In particular, the wave load is composed of irregular waves, and it is important to know the exact dynamic response. The dynamic response analysis uses a single degree of freedom (SDOF) method, which is a simplified approach, but it is limited owing to the consideration of random waves. Therefore, in industrial practice, the time-domain analysis of random waves is based on the multi degree of freedom (MDOF) method. Although the MDOF method provides high-precision results, its data convergence is sensitive and difficult to apply owing to design complexity. Therefore, a dynamic amplification factor (DAF) estimation formula is developed in this study to express the dynamic response characteristics of random waves through time-domain analysis based on different variables. It is confirmed that the calculation time can be shortened and accuracy enhanced compared to existing MDOF methods. The developed formula will be used in the initial design of WTIVs and similar structures.

  • Recently, development of maritime autonomoust surface ships and eco-friendly ships, production and evaluation research considering various marine environments is needed in the field of optimal routes as the demand for accurate and detailed real-time marine environment prediction information expands. An algorithm that can calculate the optimal route while reducing the risk of the marine environment and uncertainty in energy consumption in smart ships was developed in 2 stages. In the first stage, a profile was created by combining marine environmental information with ship location and status information within the Automatic Ship Identification System(AIS). In the second stage, a model was developed that could define the marine environment energy map using the configured profile results, A regression equation was generated by applying Random Forest among machine learning techniques to reflect about 600,000 data. The Random Forest coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.89, showing very high reliability. The Dijikstra shortest path algorithm was applied to the marine environment prediction at June 1 to 3, 2021, and to calculate the optimal safety route and express it on the map. The route calculated by the random forest regression model was streamlined, and the route was derived considering the state of the marine environment prediction information. The concept of route calculation based on real-time marine environment prediction information in this study is expected to be able to calculate a realistic and safe route that reflects the movement tendency of ships, and to be expanded to a range of economic, safety, and eco-friendliness evaluation models in the future.

  • Korea's port development adjusts the completion time and size of port facilities according to the future port throughput. The current port development system, which is referred to as "throughput-linked port development (Trigger Rule)", has received positive evaluation for efficiently executing the limited port development budget. Recently concerns have been growing over deteriorating service levels in port facilities in Korea due to accelerated aging of terminal facilities. However, the current port development system does not possess any standard for assessing the level of service and utilizing development indicators. The purpose of this paper is to calculate the Port Service Index (PSI) by selecting indicators to measure the Level of Service (LOS) of ports and deriving weights between the indicators, so that the current "throughput-linked port development (Trigger Rule)" can be linked with the level of service. Based on the result of analysis on a variety of preceding studies, the ship waiting rate, berth productivity, ship turnaround time and ship productivity were selected as four indicators to constitute the Port Service Index. The AHP and entropy methodologies were used to derive weights for each of four indicators which were later combined to calculate the comprehensive weight. The calculation formula of the Port Service Index (PSI) was derived by using the aggregated weights of each indicator, based on which the LOS of domestic container and bulk terminals were evaluated and this measurement result was divided into 6 classes to define each LOS. This paper contributes to draw the improvement measures for port development system that are able to connect the quantitative indicator of throughput, as well as a qualitative indicator of the level of "service".

  • In this paper, we propose a fuzzy PID controller of new method. There are two problems in absolute digital PID controller. First, much calculation time need for obtain the sum of data at each period. Second, this is problem need much memory because to storage every data at the before period. We use the speed type PID digital controller to improvement such problems. In the propose controller doesn't use without adjustment the crisp output error and we doesn't use nile tables in the fuzzy inference process at the forward stage fuzzifier. We inference output member ship function by using the relation and range of two variable of PID gain parameters. We can obtained desired results through the simulation and a experiment of the hydraulic servo motor control system.

  • The design and construction of special purpose vessels such as drillship and shuttle tankers have been increased. These vessels install the DPS(dynamic positioning systems) to maintain the position and heading for long-time operation. This paper deals with the experimental method for model-based DP system and the control theory and filter algorithms. In this experiment, the length of model ship is 4 meters and it has three thrusters to maintain the position. The ability of tracking along the given course and keeping of heading in waves are confirmed. For the calculation of thruster input the PID control theory are adopted and the effects of PID gain were investigated. To estimate the low frequency motions Kalman filter and digital filter were used and their effects were investigated.

  • Recently, use of Continuous Welded rail(CWR) is increased for structural, economical reason but new problem is caused accordingly and phenomenon that give threat in traveling by ship stability of train is led. According as rail is prolonged, excessive relative displacement and longitudinal force can happen to rail by temperature change and external force. Specially, buckling or fracture of rail can happen in railroad bridges because relative displacement by bridge and properties of matter difference between rail grows and additional axial force happens to rail by behavior of bridge. According to several study, longitudinal force of rail in bridge is influenced with ballast resistance, elongation length, boundary condition, stiffness of framework. Non-linear behavior of ballast acts by the most important factor in interaction between rail and bridge. Therefore, must consider stiffness of bridge construction with non-linear characteristic of ballast and stiffness of base for accuracy with longitudinal force calculation and analyze. In this study, perform material non-linear analysis for longitudinal force of CWR and three dimensional buckling analysis to decide buckling force.

  • Loads on offshore structures are largely transferred to the bracing members in the form of axial forces. The detrimental effects of imperfections on compressive strength are well recognized. Damage in the members of offshore structures would significantly affect the compressive behavior of the members. As a result, such damages may also affect the ability of the structure to withstand the functional and environmental loads. It is important to be able to assess the residual strength of damaged members quickly and accurately. This will help operators to make the decision whether the member has to be repaired or not. In this study, a series of calculation is performed to study the effects of different parameters on the behavior of such damaged members under axial load. And the results of analysis are compared with those of experiment.
