  • Recent growth in global economic situation has led dramatic increase in new buildings of large containerships. These increased new building orders have brought keen concerns of developing and improving the quality of design and increasing the productivity of the vessel in order to satisfy the ship Owner's various requirements. For the increment of productivity and quality of containership, the plastic type bearing pad of cargo hatch cover has been investigated intensively for years with the supplier of cargo hatch cover. The result of investigation showed that there are numbers of advantages for the Owner and Builder over the existing bronze bearing pads which are better corrosion resistance long life time, low friction coefficient, easy maintenance, easy installation, better production lead time and low maintenance cost.

조선해양 기자재 3D CAD 단품 데이터 간략화 시스템 개발 (Development of 3D CAD Part Data Simplification System for Ship and Offshore Plant Equipment)

  • It is necessary to construct equipment catalog in ship outfitting design and offshore plant design. The three-dimensional CAD data of equipment take on different level-of-detail depending on the purpose. Equipment suppliers provide CAD data with high complexity while ship designers need CAD data with low complexity. Therefore, it is necessary to simplify CAD data. However, it takes much time to simplify them manually. To resolve the issue, a system for automatically simplifying the 3D CAD data of equipment was developed. This paper presents the architecture of the system and the implementation details. In addition, experiment result using the prototype system is explained.

드릴쉽의 태풍 시 안벽 계류 해석 (Quay Mooring Aanlysis for a Drillship in Typhoon Conditions)

  • This paper describes the quay mooring analysis to verify the safety of a moored drillship in typhoon conditions. Mooring system consists of mooring equipments(deck bollards, shore bitts, mooring lines, fenders) to resist the extreme environmental condition. Wind force acting on the drillship is obtained from the wind tunnel test results. The strength of quay mooring system has been checked. The static mooring analysis shows that the designed mooring system satisfies the mooring design criteria. Vertical displacements of the drillship have been calculated considering the dynamic wave motions and static heelings due to the wind force acting on the ship. With the vertical displacements and the hull draft of drillship, the required water depth for quay mooring has been derived.

  • 선체는 매우 복잡한 구조물이므로 설계 및 생산의 효율적인 수행을 위하여 선체구조의 모델링에 의한 작업이 필수적이다. 선체모델 구축에 있어서 구조면의 모델링은 초기선형정의에서부터, 선각정보처리, 구획배치, 의장설계, 배관설계, 구조해석 등 선체관련분야와 직접 연관된다. 본 연구에서는 구조면의 효과적인 모델링을 위하여 구조면들간의 위상학적인 자료구조를 구성하므로써 선체구조의 기하학적 정보를 설계의 단계에 따라 발전시켜 나가고 효율적으로 변경시킬 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구에서 수행된 구조면의 모델링은 선체설계에서부터 생산에 이르기까지 일관된 정보처리를 위한 통합선체모델(Unified Hull Model)구축의 기초가 될 것이다. 구축된 모델의 가시화를 위하여 컴퓨터그래픽스를 이용하여 선체모델을 실물감 있게 표현하였다.

  • Due to its large size, a ship is first divided into scores of blocks and then each block is constructed through various shops, such as the assembly shop, the painting shop, and the outfitting shop. However, each block may not be directly moved to the next shop and may be temporarily laid on a block stockyard because the working time in each shop is different. If blocks are laid on the block stockyard without any planning, the rearrangement of the blocks by a transporter are required because the blocks have the different in and out time. In this study, an optimal layout method based on the genetic algorithm was proposed in order to minimize the rearrangement of the blocks in the block stockyard. To evaluate the applicability of the proposed method, it was applied to a simple layout problem of the block stockyard.

The development of a practical pipe auto-routing system in a shipbuilding CAD environment using network optimization

  • An automatic pipe routing system is proposed and implemented. Generally, the pipe routing design as a part of the shipbuilding process requires a considerable number of man hours due to the complexity which comes from physical and operational constraints and the crucial influence on outfitting construction productivity. Therefore, the automation of pipe routing design operations and processes has always been one of the most important goals for improvements in shipbuilding design. The proposed system is applied to a pipe routing design in the engine room space of a commercial ship. The effectiveness of this system is verified as a reasonable form of support for pipe routing design jobs. The automatic routing result of this system can serve as a good basis model in the initial stages of pipe routing design, allowing the designer to reduce their design lead time significantly. As a result, the design productivity overall can be improved with this automatic pipe routing system.

초대형 구조모델을 활용한 쉘구조물의 용접변형 해석 (A weld-distortion analysis method of the shell structures using ultra structural FE model)

  • A very large shell-structure built in shipyards like ship hulls or offshore structures are joined by welding through full process. As the welding contains a high thermal cycle at a local area, the welded structures should be distorted unavoidably. Because a distorted ship block should be revised to the designed value before the next stage, the ability to predict and to control the weld distortion is an accuracy level of the yard itself. Despite the ship block size, several present thermal distortion methodologies can deal those sizes, but it is a different story to deal full ship size model. Even a fully constructed ship hull not remaining any welding can have an accuracy issue like outfitting installation problems. Any present thermal distortion methodology cannot accept this size for its recommended element size and the number. The ordinary welding breadth at erection stage is about 20~40 mm. It can hardly be a good choice to make finite element model of these sizes considering human effort and computational environment. The finite element model for structure analysis of a ship hull is prepared at front-end engineering design stage which is the first process of the project. The element size of the model is as fine as the longitudinal space, and it is not proper to obtain a weld distortion at the erection stage. In this study, a methodology is suggested that a weldment can be shrunk at original place instead of using structural finite element model. We cut the original shell elements at erection weld-line and put truss elements between the edges of cut elements for weld shrinkage. Additional truss elements are used to facsimile transverse weld shrinkage which cannot be from the weld-line truss element shrink. They attach to weld-line truss element like twigs from barks. The capacity of developed elements is verified through an accuracy check of erection process of a container vessel at the apt. hull. It can be a useful tool for verifying a centering accuracy after renew and for block-separating planning considering accuracy.

  • 최근 기업의 생산성 향상을 위한 설계 및 생산 환경의 분산화에 따른 원격지 공동설계의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 마찬가지로 선박설계 과정도 그 과정이 매우 복잡하고 많은 양의 데이터를 다루고 있는 작업으로서 그 환경이 분산화, 이질화됨에 따라 최근 들어 CSCW (Computer Supported Collaborative Work)의 요구가 증대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 분산된 선박설계 환경에서의 원격지 공동설계를 지원하기 위한 에이전트기반 선박설계 시스템을 개발하였다. 특히 여기서는 에이전트간의 정보교환 및 지식공유 과정에서 발생하는 의사충돌 문제를 해결하기 위하여 사례기반 추론 기법을 이용하여 이의 해결을 시도하였다. 설계 에이전트, 이들을 중재하는 퍼실리테이터, 충돌 처리기, 그리고 사례기반 시스템의 유기적인 도움을 받아 설계자는 설계과정에서 발생하는 설계 시스템간의 의사충돌 문제에 대한 의사결정을 과거의 유사한 문제해결 사례로부터 효과적으로 처리할 수 있다.

  • In the large and multifunctional engineering system, the heterogeneous computer system situation is inevitable. Accordingly a lot of integration efforts are being made to comply with the industrial requirement of productivity. In this paper, a practical concept of integration is introduced through the development of a prototype system for ship outfitting design which is a typical example of large/multi-functional application system. On the development of the prototype system, three points are considered as a practical concept-which are integration of database, integration of application programs, and system-user interface. The relation model based commercial database management system(RDBMS) is used to build the project integrated database, and the graphical user interface tool(OSF/Motif) on X-window system is used for the integration of application programs and the user interface.

  • Due to the nature of semi-submergible drilling rig, various equipments are arranged in a limited space, and therefore the many types of outfitting holes passing through the hull structure are densely arranged and that is required the detailed structural strength evaluation in terms of ULS and FLS by class or client. Particularly, semi-submergible drilling rig has a variety of global load which affects the structure strength around holes compared to general commercial ship, and its response of stress is also complicated, so it is difficult to carry out the prediction design of structural strength evaluation and reinforcement. In this regard, this paper presents a case study on the evaluation of structural strength for the various holes and large openings of semi-submergible drilling rig conducted by our company, as well as an established hole verification procedure.
