순수점성 비뉴톤유체의 물성치들에 대한 농도 및 온도의 영향 (Effects of the Concentration and the Temperature on the Thermophysical Properties of Purely-Viscous Non-Newtonian Fluid)

  • The thermophysical properties of Non-Newtonian fluid as the function of the temperature and the concentration are needed in many rheological heat transfer and fluid mechanics problems. The present work investigated the effects of the concentration and the temperature on the thermophysical properties of purely-viscous Non-Newtonian fluids such as the isobaric thermal expansion coefficient, density, zero-shear-rate viscosity, and zero-shear-rate dynamic viscosity within the experimental temperature range from $25^{\circ}C$ to $55^{\circ}C$. The densities of the test fluids were determined as the function of the temperature by utilizing a reference density and the least square equation for the measured isobaric thermal expansion coefficient. As the concentration of purely-viscous Non-Newtonian fluid was increased up to 10,000 wppm, the densities were proportionally increased up to 0.4%. The zero-shear-rate viscosities of test fluids were measured before and after the measurements of the first thermal expansion coefficients and the densities of Non-Newtonian fluid. Even though they were changed up to approximately 22% due to thermal aging and cycling, they had no effects on the thermal expansion coefficients and the densities of Non-Newtonian fluid. The zero-shear-rate dynamic viscosities for purely-viscous Non-Newtonian fluids were compared with the values for distilled water. They showed the similar trend with the zero-shear-rate viscosities due to small differences in the densities for both distilled water and purely-viscous Non-Newtonian fluid.

낙구식 점도계를 이용한 점탄성 유체의 특성시간에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the characteristic times of viscoelastic fluids by falling ball viscometer)

  • 본 연구에서는 낙구식 점도계를 이용하여 낮은 농도의 용액을 실험할 때 종말 속도측정의 어려움을 해결하기 위하여 레이저와 특수 타이머를 설치하였으며 정확한 특성시간을 결정하기 위하여 실린더 내부의 시험유체를 교란시키지 않고, 떨어뜨린 구 를 회수하는 장치를 제작하였다. 또한 주로 rheogoniometer에 의존하던 영 전단률 점성계수를 측정하기 위하여 속이 빈 알루미늄 구(hollow aluminium ball)의 밀도를 시험 유체와 거의 같은 정도까지 변화시켜가며 종말 속도를 측정하였으며 점탄성 유체 로써 Separan AP-273의 낮은 농도인 300에서 2000wppm까지의 저농도 용액에 대한 특성 시간을 여러모델에 의하여 실험적으로 결정하고 저농도 폴리머 용액에서 퇴화로 인한 점탄성유체의 특성 변화를 분석하였다.

직접전단시험을 통한 암석 절리의 변형거동 및 미소파괴음 발생에 관한 연구 (Deformation Behaviors and Acoustic Emissions of Rock Joints in Direct Shear)

  • Direct shear tests were on ducted in a laboratory setting in order to investigate the shear strength and deformation behavior of rock joints. Also, the characteristics of acoustic emissions (AE) during shearing of rock joints were studied. The artificial rock joints were created by splitting the intact blocks of Hwangdeung granites and Iksan marbles. Joint roughness profiles were measured by a profile gage and then digitized by Image analyzer. Roughness profile indices(Rp) of the joints were calculated with these digitized data. Peak shear strength, residual shear strength, shear stiffness and maximum acoustic emission(AE) rate were investigated with joint roughness. The peak shear strenght, the residual shear strength and the shear stiffness were increased as roughness popfile index or normal stress increased in the shear tests of granites. In the tests of marble samples, the shear deformation characteristics were not directly affected by joint roughness. As the result of two directional shear tests, the shear characteristics were varied with shear direction. AE count rates were measured during the shear deformation and the AE signals in several stages of the deformation were analyzed in a frequency domain. The AE rate peaks coincided with the stress drops during the shear deformation of joint. The dominant frequencies of the AE signals were in the vicinity of 100 kHz fo rgranite sample and 900 kHz for marble samples. The distribution of amplitude was dispersed with increasing normal stress.

초소형 무연 단일 솔더볼 연결부의 전단강도 평가 (Evaluation of Shear Strength of a Miniature Lead-free Single Solder Ball Joint)

  • A miniature single solder ball joint is designed to mimic the actual solder joints used in the micro-electric industries. Shear tests were conducted to evaluate the mechanical behavior of miniature single solder joints at intermediate strain rates from $0.019\;s^{-1}$ to $2.16\;s^{-1}$ at room temperature. The shear fracture strength of the present solder ball joints generally increased with increasing shear strain rate, ranging from 32 to 51MPa. This behavior is affected by the sensitivity of bulk solder strength to strain rate. Shear fracture mode changed from brittle to partial ductile (failure inside the bulk solder) with an increase of shear speed. The unloading shear fracture toughness is generally consistent with the measure of the amount of bulk solder on the fractured surface.

  • The ball shea. tests for ball grid array (BGA) and flip chip packages were carried out with different displacement rates to find out the optimum condition of the displacement rate for this test. The BGA packages consisted of two different kinds of solder balls (eutectic Sn-37wt.%Pb and Sn-3.5wt.%Ag) and electroplated Au/Ni/Cu substrate, whereas the flip chip package consisted of electroplated Sn-37Pb solder and Cu UBM. The packages were reflowed up to 10 times, or aged at 443 K up to 21 days. The variation of the displacement rate resulted in the variations of the shear properties such as shear force, displacement rate at break, fracture mode and strain rate sensitivity. The increase in the displacement rate led to the increase of the shear force and brittleness of solder joints.

Experimental and Theoretical Study on Shear Flow Behavior of Polypropylene/Layered Silicate Nanocomposites

  • Polypropylene/layered silicate nanocomposites containing maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene were prepared by melt compounding and their rheological behavior was investigated in shear flow. Transient and steady shear flows were simulated numerically by using the K-BKZ integral constitutive equation along with experimentally determined damping functions under dynamic oscillatory and step strain shear flows. Nonlinear shear responses were predicted with the K-BKZ constitutive equation using two different damping functions such as the Wagner and PSM models. It was observed that PP-g-MAH compatibilized PP/layered silicate nanocomposites have stronger and earlier shear thinning and higher steady shear viscosity than pure PP resin or uncompatibilized nanocomposites at low shear rate regions. Strong damping behavior of the PP/layered silicate nanocomposite was predicted under large step shear strain and considered as a result of the strain-induced orientation of the organoclay in the shear flow. Steady shear viscosity of the pure PP and uncompatibilized nanocomposite predicted by the K-BKZ model was in good agreement with the experimental results at all shear rate regions. However, the model was inadequate to predict the steady shear viscosity of PP-g-MAH compatibilized nanocomposites quantitatively because the K-BKZ model overestimates strain-softening damping behavior for PP/layered silicate nanocomposites.

Effects of normal stress, shearing rate, PSD and sample size on behavior of ballast in direct shear tests using DEM simulation

  • Ballast particles have an irregular shape and are discrete in nature. Due to the discrete nature of ballast, it exhibits complex mechanical behaviour under loading conditions. The discrete element method (DEM) can model the behaviour of discrete particles under a multitude of loading conditions. DEM is used in this paper to simulate a series of three-dimensional direct shear tests in order to investigate the shear behaviour of railway ballast and its interaction at the microscopic level. Particle flow code in three dimension (PFC3D) models the irregular shape of ballast particles as clump particles. To investigate the influence of particle size distribution (PSD), real PSD of Indian railway ballast specification IRS:GE:1:2004, China high-speed rail (HSR) and French rail specifications are generated. PFC3D built-in linear contact model is used to simulate the interaction of ballast particles under various normal stresses, shearing rate and shear box sizes. The results indicate how shear resistance and volumetric changes in ballast assembly are affected by normal stress, shearing rate, PSD and shear box size. In addition to macroscopic behaviour, DEM represents the microscopic behaviour of ballast particles in the form of particle displacement at different stages of the shearing process.

랫드의 스트레스성 위궤양에 대한 Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)의 항궤양작용에 관한 연구 (A Study on Antiulcer Effects of Opuntia dillenii Haw. on Stomach Ulcer Induced by Water-immersion Stress in Rats)

  • 본 연구는 스트레스에 의해 발생하는 위궤양에 대한 Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)의 효과를 관찰하고자 시행되었다. 실험동물로는 Sprague-Dawley계 수컷 흰주 48마리를 사용하였으며 대조군(CO)과 3개의 투여군(E-1, E-2, E-3)으로 나누어 1996년 7월 29일부터 1996년 8월 25일까지 4주간 실험을 수행하였다. Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)는 1일 1회 경구투여하였으며, 각각 30mg/kg BW(E-1), 60mg/kg BW(E-1) 및 120mg/kg BW(E-3)의 농도를 수여하였다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 체중은 전 군에 걸쳐서 고르게 증가되었으며, 특히 실험시작 후 13일째의 체중증가량은 대조군에 비하여 Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)를 투여한 실험군 E-2가 매우 유의하게 높았고(p<0.01), 실험군 E-3도 유의하게 높게 나타났다(p<0.05). 식이효율은 2.12~3.02으로 군간에 유의한 차이는 나타내지 않았다. 2. 위, 간, 신장 및 비장의 중량을 측정한 결과 군간의 유의한 차이는 관찰되지 않아TEk. 3. 위의 표면 pH를 측정한 결과 대조군에 비해서 Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)를 투여한 실험군에서 유의한 차이는 관찰되지 않았다. 4. Alcian Blue Staining을 통한 위점액량 산출결과 Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)를 투여한 실험군이 대조군에 비해 전 농도에서 점액량이 높게 나타났으며, 실험군 E-1군은 유의하게 높았고 (p<0.05), 실험군 E-2의 경우 그 증가가 현저하였다(p<0.01). 이로써 Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)가 위의 점액생성을 촉진시키거나 위에 보호막을 형성함으로써 위궤양 발생저하에 기여하는 것으로 보여진다. 5. shear rate 11.25, 45.0, 90.0 및 $225.0\;sec^{-1}$에서 전혈점도 및 혈장점도를 측정한 결과 모든 shear rate에서 C군>E-3군>E-1군>E-2군의 경향성을 보였다 E-1(30mg/kg BW)군의 전혈점도는 대조군에 비하여 shear rate 11.25, $45.0\;sec^{-1}$에서는 매우 유의하게 감소하였고 (p<0.01), shear rate 90.0 , $225.0\;sec^{-1}$에서도 유의하게 감소되었다. (p<0.05). E-2(60mg/kg BW)군의 전혈점도는 대조군에 비하여 전 shear rate에서 매우 유의하게 감소되었다(p<0.01). E-3(120mg/kg BW)군의 전혈점도는 대조군에 비해 shear rate $11.25\;sec^{-1}$에서 매우 유의하게 감소되었고(p<0.01), shear rate 45.0, 225.0 sec-1에서도 유의하게 감소되었다. (p<0.05). 동일한 shear rate에서의 혈장점도는, E-1(30mg.kg BW)군은 대조군에 비해서 shear rate $90.0\;sec^{-1}$에서 유의하게 감소되었다. (p<0.05) E-2(60mg.kg BW)군의 혈장점도는 대조군에 비해 shear rate 90.0, $225.0\;sec^{-1}$에서 유의하게 감소되었다 (p<0.05). E-3(120mg.kg BW)군은 대조군에 비해 전 shear rate에서 모두 감소하였으나 유의한 차이는 보이지 않았다. 이러한 결과로부터Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)가 스트레스하에서 발생하는 위의 미세혈관 혈류 흐름장애를 개선시켜 위궤양 발생저하에 기여하는 것으로 보여진다. 6. 전 실험군의 위를 조사한 결과 출혈을 동반한 궤양이 형성되었음을 관찰할 수 있었다. Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장) 투여군에서는 대조군에 비해서 궤양의 면적과 깊이가 다소 적은 경향을 나타내었다. 7. 위조직에 대한 병리조직학적 검사를 시행한 결과 Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)를 투여한 실험군에 비하여 대조군의 궤양이 매우 심함을 관찰할 수 있었고 E-2 군의 경우 궤양이 경미한 정도였다. 8. 위궤양의 지표로 사용한 pH, 위점액량, 전혈점도, 조직병리학적 소견 등을 종합한 결과, Opuntia dillenii Haw.(선인장)를 투여한 실험군이 대조군에 비해서 항궤양효과가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 치료양의 2배를 투여한 E-2(60mg.kg BW)군에서 효과가 가장 뛰어났다.

광 투사법을 이용한 슬릿 점도계에서의 적혈구 응집성 및 점도 측정에 관한 연구 (Simultaneous measurements of red blood cell aggregation and blood viscosity in a slit rheometry with light transmission analysis)

  • The light-transmission technique has been applied to a slit rheometer for measuring red blood cell aggregation as well as blood viscosity over a range of shear rates. For measurement of blood viscosity and aggregation, instantaneous pressure and transmit-light intensity are measured with time. Using a precision pressure measurement, one can determine the shear stress and shear rate. In addition, a transmitted light through a blood sample indicates degree of RBC aggregation. With abruptly flowing with high shear rate, RBCs rapidly disaggregate and the intensity of the transmitted light becomes low. When continuously flowing with decreasing shear rate, RBCs tend to re-aggregate and the corresponding transmit-intensity gradually increases with time. The light intensity as a degree of RBC aggregation is plotted against shear rate and compared with blood viscosity. The advantages of this design are dual measurement at a time, simplicity, i.e., ease of operation and no moving parts, low cost, short operating time, and the disposable kit which is contacted with blood sample.

감량률에 따른 폴리에스테르 직물의 역학적 특성에 관한 연구 (연속식, 액류식, 탱크식) (A Study on the Mechanical Properties to the Weight Loss of Polyester Fabric (C.D.R., Liquor-flow, Tank type))

  • This study discussed the mechanical properties such as bending and shear of polyester fabric treated with a several weight reduction machine. With the increase in the rate of weight loss, the bending rigidity of the warp and weft of treated fabric decreased regardless of the weight reduction machine. At 6.5% weight loss, the bending rigidity of warp and weft yarn decreased to $0.035\;gfcm^2/cm$ and $0.017\;gfcm^2/cm$, respectively, and these values show 54% and 94% of their untreated warp and weft. At same rate of the weight loss, the bending rigidity of polyester fabric treated with C.D.R slightly higher than that of the tank type or liquor-flow type. On the other hand, below 6.5% weight loss, the shear rigidity of the warp and weft of the treated fabric rapidly decreased. But with the increase in the above 6.5% rate of weight loss, the decreasing tendency of the shear rigidity declined. At same rate of the weight loss, the shear rigidity of fabric treated with tank type nearly equal to the that of the liquor flow type. But at same rate of the weight loss, the shear rigidity of the fabric treated with C.D.R type higher than that of the tank or liquor-flow type.
