버스서비스 개선을 위한 버스몰림지표 개발 및 적용 (The Development and Application of Bus Bunching Indices for Bus Service Improvement)

  • 버스는 개인교통수단에 비해 대량수송이 가능한 경제적, 친환경적 교통수단으로 인식되면서 서비스 개선을 위한 다양한 정책이 추진되고 있다. 특히, BMS(Bus Management Systems)와 같은 첨단대중교통체계의 수립은 버스운행에 대한 효율적 관리를 통한 운행서비스를 높일 수 있는 방안으로 활용되고 있다. 현재 버스운행관리는 대부분 정시배차와 같은 정시성과 관련한 신뢰성 관리에 초점을 두고있다. 본 연구에서는 정류장에서 버스몰림 운행관리의 필요성과 몰림현상에 대해 설명하고 정차면수 기준과 평균버스도착율을 기준으로 한 2가지 유형의 버스몰림지표를 개발하였다. 버스몰림지표는 서울시 교통정보서비스 (TOPIS, Transportation & Information Service)의 BMS 버스운행이력 자료를 이용하여 중앙버스전용차로인 도봉미아로와 일반차로인 통일의주로에 적용하였다. 분석결과, 도심에 가까운 정류소가 외곽의 정류소에 비해 몰림운행되는 것으로 나타났으며, 시간대별로는 오전 첨두시간대에 버스몰림이 심각한 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 버스정시성 지표와 비교함으로서 보완지표로서 활용성을 제시하였다. 중앙전용차로와 일반차로의 몰림운행 비교를 통한 중앙전용차로의 확대시 참고자료로 이용될 수 있을 것이며, 정차면수(Number of Berth)와 같은 버스정류소 규모 및 노선배치에 참고자료로 활용될 수 있음을 제시하였다.

GTS 기반 무선 센서 네트워크에서 부모 제어 충돌 회피 방안 (A Parent-controlled Collision Avoidance Scheme in GTS-based Wireless Sensor Network)

  • 본 논문은 무선 채널을 노드에게 할당하여 보장하는 GTS 기반의 무선 센서 네트워크에서 다수의 노드가 같은 채널을 공유할 때, 충돌이 발생하는 것을 최대로 억제하기 위한 방안을 제시한다. 무선 자원이 충분하지 않은 조건에서 다수의 노드에게 특정 채널을 같이 할당하고, 할당한 채널을 노드들이 공유하면서 데이터를 전송한다. 데이터 전송 시, 한개 이상의 노드들이 채널을 이용하면 충돌이 발생한다. 이러한 충돌을 효과적으로 줄이기 위해, 부모가 자식 노드들에게 백오프 값들을 지정하고, 그래도 충돌이 생기는 경우, 백오프 값 변경을 시도하여 충돌을 방지한다. 제안 방안을 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안 방안이 효과적으로 백오프 값을 조절하여 충돌이 많이 감소함을 확인할 수 있었다.

The Impact of Supertall Density on City Systems

  • This paper discusses several topics associated with the densification caused by supertall buildings and their impact on city systems. The paper covers five key areas where a supertall tower creates a concentration of needs and effects. First, the paper comments on population shifts towards the city and how they affect carbon footprint, utilities infrastructure and transport. The effect of single- and mixed-use towers is discussed in the context of population density. The second section brings the issues of transit, accessibility and master planning into focus. The use and criticality of public transport, cycling and walking is described. Servicing and deliveries using freight consolidation and shared systems is also discussed along with their contribution to the culture of sustainable travel. In the third section the paper reflects on supertall buildings' below-ground utilities and drainage provision, particularly the challenges faced in established city infrastructures. The utilities issues associated with supertall concentration (in land-use terms) compared to equivalent low-rise distribution is also commented on in the context of surface water runoff. In the fourth section, the topic of supertall sustainability is discussed and how city systems need to respond to create desirable and affordable space for occupiers. The changing need for vertical communities, 'stacked neighbourhoods' and the notion of a micro-city is described. Finally, the paper considers the energy consumption and resilience of supertall buildings in the context of basic geometry, façade design, climate and mixed-use benefits as they impact city systems.

다자간 원격 협업을 위한 적응형 전송 기능을 가진 고화질 영상 서비스의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of High-quality Video Service with Adaptive Transport for Multi-party Collaborative Environments)

  • 효과적인 원격 헙업환경을 구축하기 위해서는 참가자들이 의도하는 바를 사실적으로 전달하여야 하며, 특히 손동작, 표정, 분위기와 같은 시각적인 감정전달 요소들은 고품질 영상 전달을 통해 상호간에 공유되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 다자간 공동작업 환경으로 널리 사용되고 있는 액세스그리드(Access Grid, AG)에 기반을 둔 디지털 영상과 고선명 디지털 영상 지원하는 고화질 영상 서비스를 제안하여 협업 환경의 실감성 향상에 기여하고자 한다. 제안하는 영상 서비스는 다양한 영상 코덱과 영상 프로그램을 AG 환경에서 이용할 수 있도록 설계되었으며, AG 노드들에 다양한 영상 서비스를 송수신할 수 있는 세션 묘사 및 공지 프로토콜을 이용한다. 또한 급격한 네트워크 상황 변화에 따른 영상 품질 저하를 최소화하기 위하여 네트워크 적응형 전송 기법을 이용한 디지털 비디오 전송 기능을 제공한다. 이는 종단간 멀티캐스트 네트워크 성능을 지속적으로 감시하고, 네트워크 성능에 따른 송신측 프레임 전송률을 조절한다. 테스트베드에서의 구현 및 실험 결과는 제안하는 서비스가 AG 영상 서비스의 품질을 개선하고 네트워크 변화에 의한 품질저하 현상을 감소시킬 수 있음을 보여준다.

CBP-Mediated Acetylation of Importin α Mediates Calcium-Dependent Nucleocytoplasmic Transport of Selective Proteins in Drosophila Neurons

  • For proper function of proteins, their subcellular localization needs to be monitored and regulated in response to the changes in cellular demands. In this regard, dysregulation in the nucleocytoplasmic transport (NCT) of proteins is closely associated with the pathogenesis of various neurodegenerative diseases. However, it remains unclear whether there exists an intrinsic regulatory pathway(s) that controls NCT of proteins either in a commonly shared manner or in a target-selectively different manner. To dissect between these possibilities, in the current study, we investigated the molecular mechanism regulating NCT of truncated ataxin-3 (ATXN3) proteins of which genetic mutation leads to a type of polyglutamine (polyQ) diseases, in comparison with that of TDP-43. In Drosophila dendritic arborization (da) neurons, we observed dynamic changes in the subcellular localization of truncated ATXN3 proteins between the nucleus and the cytosol during development. Moreover, ectopic neuronal toxicity was induced by truncated ATXN3 proteins upon their nuclear accumulation. Consistent with a previous study showing intracellular calcium-dependent NCT of TDP-43, NCT of ATXN3 was also regulated by intracellular calcium level and involves Importin α3 (Imp α3). Interestingly, NCT of ATXN3, but not TDP-43, was primarily mediated by CBP. We further showed that acetyltransferase activity of CBP is important for NCT of ATXN3, which may acetylate Imp α3 to regulate NCT of ATXN3. These findings demonstrate that CBP-dependent acetylation of Imp α3 is crucial for intracellular calcium-dependent NCT of ATXN3 proteins, different from that of TDP-43, in Drosophila neurons.

준대중교통수단으로서 택시교통요율 관리에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fare Management For Taxicab as a Means of Paratransit in Urban Areas)

  • Development of para-transit is imminent in modern metropolis which are galloping toward motorization. Compared with other already industrialize countries, our metropolis can take a vantage of late starter in coping with urban transportation problem. Our metropolis are still heavily relying on public and/or pare-transit in modal split. Current government policy toward taxi-cab, however, seems to contradict with the objective of developing para-transit. If it is not adequately developed, the middle-class people of higher income would have no other option than having their own auto as already been observed. It will centainly accelerate our motorization process so that we follow the model of industrialized countries, and their problems too. Insisting that our transport policy should be drastically reformulated in favor of paratransit in addition to public transit, this study reappraise current policy on taxi-cab with respect to fare, prohibition of shared-ride, and other regulatory measures and propose and management model for taxi fare and operating policy in metropolis.

Unified Modeling Language based Analysis of Security Attacks in Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

  • Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are rapidly emerging because of their potential applications available in military and civilian environments. Due to unattended and hostile deployment environments, shared wireless links, and inherent resource constraints, providing high level security services is challenging in WSNs. In this paper, we revisit various security attack models and analyze them by using a well-known standard notation, Unified Modeling Language (UML). We provide a set of UML collaboration diagram and sequence diagrams of attack models witnessed in different network layers: physical, data/link, network, and transport. The proposed UML-based analysis not only can facilitate understanding of attack strategies, but can also provide a deep insight into designing/developing countermeasures in WSNs.

  • Multicast and Broadcast Service (MBS) provides flexible and efficient transmission of the same information to multiple users using shared radio resources on WiBro network. The advantage of this service is to achieve the most efficient use of radio and network resources as well as to lessen sender's processing load when sending the same information to multiple users. Though radio resources are saved since a multicast or broadcast transport connection is associated with a service flow, it is hard to change MBS service channel dynamically. In this paper, we propose a Radio Resource Management System (RRMS) for supporting dynamic scheduling of MBS service channels. Results show that our proposed scheme using Radio Resource Allocation Table (RRAT) can efficiently support MBS services by providing dynamic schedule for MBS service channels.

A Human-Scaled Future for Dense Development

  • Critics of height argue that it de-humanizes our cities. Yet a critical mass is a necessity for vibrant city life, and height is a key contributor. If we can overcome the environmental impacts and technicalities of building tall and dense, our cities' streets can thrive and prosper. To make this happen, we must move towards working together to share resources, so we can ensure the continuity of the public realm. We already have the tools to do this; the challenge lies in the coordination of the public and private institutions that govern urban space. District heating and cooling systems; shared logistics spaces; care, responsibility and ownership of the public realm between buildings; seamless connectivity between modes of transport; creative combinations of shelter and seating, and the placement of buildings so that they are not overbearing to the streets around them - these attributes can be found in many places, though rarely all at once. This paper looks at the development of the city and offers Barangaroo South, Sydney, which addresses all these aspects, as a potential template for future city planning.

위험물 운송사고 예방을 위한 안전관리시스템 개발 (Development of Real-time Safety Management System for Incident Prevention by Hazard Material Transport)

  • The incidents related to transporting hazardous materials may cause serious impacts on neighborhood and surrounding areas. It is essential to have a real-time safe management system for incidents prevention of transporting hazardous materials. Currently, the system is not integrated into one channel, which makes it difficult to control an incidents response. Another problem is that event status is not appropriately shared among authorities having responsibilities taking down the incidents. This paper investigates previous studies covering the real-time safety management system for hazard material transports and suggests an integrated management system that helps communicate effectively and promptly.
