  • This paper was studied for optimum design of the used vaporizer at a satellite station. Generally, the cold air is created by temperature drop on the vaporizer surface. In addition, the frost creates ice deposit layer, therefore, heat transfer on vaporizer decreases into the adiabatic condition. By this reason, recent vaporizer system is installed as parallel type, and it takes three times of vaporizer capacity. But this vaporizer system requires much installation costs and restricted by some space. It is very important to solve this problem. This study paper is regarding $LN_2$ vaporizer where the utilization increases recently. There are three variable conditions which are used in this study research. First, fin lengths of 4000mm, 6000mm, 8000mm and 0, 4, 8 fin types were applied rut each vaporizer. Second, we applied four season condition which consist of humidity, temperature and air velocity to the experimental environment. Finally, pressure was applied to get flow rate during experiment. This paper objective is to propose vaporizer type and length data for best performance of vaporizer through experiment.

Analog active valve control design for non-linear semi-active resetable devices

  • Semi-active devices use the building's own motion to produce resistive forces and are thus strictly dissipative and require little power. Devices that independently control the binary open/closed valve state can enable novel device hysteresis loops that were not previously possible. However, some device hysteresis loops cannot be obtained without active analog valve control allowing slower, controlled release of stored energy, and is presents an ongoing limitation in obtaining the full range of possibilities offered by these devices. This in silico study develops a proportional-derivative feedback control law using a validated nonlinear device model to track an ideal diamond-shaped force-displacement response profile using active analog valve control. It is validated by comparison to the ideal shape for both sinusoidal and random seismic input motions. Structural application specific spectral analysis compares the performance for the non-linear, actively controlled case to those obtained with an ideal, linear model to validate that the potential performance will be retained when considering realistic nonlinear behaviour and the designed valve control approach. Results show tracking of the device force-displacement loop to within 3-5% of the desired ideal curve. Valve delay, rather than control law design, is the primary limiting factor, and analysis indicates a ratio of valve delay to structural period must be 1/10 or smaller to ensure adequate tracking, relating valve performance to structural period and overall device performance under control. Overall, the results show that active analog feedback control of energy release in these devices can significantly increase the range of resetable, valve-controlled semi-active device performance and hysteresis loops, in turn increasing their performance envelop and application space.

  • An efficient method of estimating the spatial gaps between the connected components has been prposed to separatethe individual words from a handwritten legal amount on bank check. Owing to the inherent problem of underestimation or overestimation, the previous gap measures have much difficulty in being applied to the legal amounts that usually include the great shape variability by writer's unconstrained writing style and touching or irregular gaps between words by space limitation. In order to alleviate such burden and improve word separation performance, we have developed a modified version of each distance measure. Through a series of word separation experiments, we found that the modified distance measures show a better performance with over $2-3\%$ of the word separation rate than their corresponding original distance measures.

  • This paper presents damage detection and estimation of stiffness parameter on a concrete scale model and a real structure of concrete pontoon using dynamic properties such as mode shapes and natural frequencies. In case of damage detection, dynamic impact test on a concrete scale model is accomplished to extract mode shapes and the practicality is verified by utilizing a damage detection technique. And the stiffness parameter of a real structure of concrete pontoon was estimated via system identification technique using the natural frequencies of the structure. The results indicate that the damaged elements of the scale model are found exactly using damage detection technique and the effective stiffness property of the real structure of concrete pontoon can be estimated by system identification technique.

  • Opposed to following the contours of the human body, the voluminous enlargement in costume, which characterizes the distinguished enlargement in space rather than the contour of human body, mean the enlargement aspect involving the vertical protrusion and the expansion of shape and volume as well as the extension of length. The costume enlargement as a different method of expression is a symbol showing a meaning of something and an aesthetic expression containing man's will. This voluminous enlargement of costume, as an aesthetic expression, has different formative characteristicsand immanent meanings according to ideals and thoughts as well as social and cultural background of each age Accordingly, the aesthetic consciousness also differaccording to the change of the times. To study the aesthetic consciousness of costume's voluminous enlargement, focous had been given to milieus that show comparatively conspicuous voluminous enlargement Periods that have been subjected to this study include costumes of the ancient Egypt, the Gothic period in the Middle age, the Renaissance, the Baroque Rococo of the recent times, and the modern era (Empire, Romantic, Art Nouveau. etc) With focus given to the principle of design obtained through this study were used to analyze the aesthetic characteristics, Futhermore, based on the spirit of the times and the socio-cultural symbolism, research on immanent meanings, as supported by objectivity and universal validity, was also made, the enlargement beauty of costume had been placed under the aesthetic category and, by interpreting the analogies of presented in aesthetic consciousness, the true nature of the voluminous enlargement in costume had been traced.   • In content-based image retrieval, the query is an image itself and the retrieval process is the process that seeking the similar images to the given query image. In this way of retrieval, the user has to know the basic physical features of target images that he wants to retrieve. But it has some restriction because to retrieve the target image he has to know the basic physical feature space such as color, texture, shape and spatial relationship. In this paper, we propose an emotion-based retrieval system. It uses the emotion that color images have. It is different from past emotion-based image retrieval in point of view that it uses relevance feedback to estimate the users intend and it is easily combined with past content-based image retrieval system. To test the performance of our proposed system, we use MPEG-7 color descriptor and emotion language such as "warm", "clean", "bright" and "delight" We test about 1500 wallpaper images and get successful result.lpaper images and get successful result.

  • The Sydney Opera House is built on a peninsula of rock that juts out into Sydney Harbor. The site was once a landing place for ships. Utzon, Architect, designed the theatres for the Opera House to fit the shape. The two theatres were placed side by side so that they both had extensive harbor views. The Sydney Opera House is designed the foyers to take full advantage of these sights. Because the building would be seen from all sides, even from above, it was to be a piece of sculpture. The outside was as important as the inside. The audience enters from behind the stage and walks around to the foyers overlooking the harbour. The wing and backstage areas are small because of the way the foyers wrap around the theatre. The stage is made up of large platform lifts which provide the vertical movement for changing scenery. The sets come up from the workshops below stage. The flytower fits under the largest roof shell and doesn't break the skyline. The important elements are the podium, the shells and the reminders. The podium, the huge monolithic concrete structure, contains hundreds of rooms and nearly all the technical equipment. The podium is clad with pink granite slabs and seen from the water. This design eliminated a maze of fire escape stairs and, at the same time, gave people a wonderful view of the harbour. The egg shell is remarkably strong and express the form as the symbol of the site.

  • Three-dimensional image reconstruction allows us to represent real objects in the virtual space and observe the objects at arbitrary view points. This technique can be used in various application areas such as education, culture, and art. In this paper, we propose an implementation method of the high-quality three-dimensional object using multiple Kinect cameras released from Microsoft. First, We acquire color and depth images from triple Kinect cameras; Kinect cameras are placed in front of the object as a convergence form. Because original depth image includes some areas where have no depth values, we employ joint bilateral filter to refine these areas. In addition to the depth image problem, there is an color mismatch problem in color images of multiview system. In order to solve it, we exploit an color correction method using three-dimensional geometry. Through the experimental results, we found that three-dimensional object which is used the proposed method is more naturally represented than the original three-dimensional object in terms of the color and shape.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for reconstructing a 3D object (or a set of objects) from a 2D drawing provided by a designer. The input 2D drawing consists of a set of contours that may partially overlap each other or be self-overlapping. Accordingly, the resulting 3D object(s) may occlude each other or be self-occluding. The proposed method is composed of three major steps: 2D contour analysis, 3D skeleton computation, and 3D object construction. Our main contribution is to compute the 3D skeleton from the self-intersecting 2D counterpart. We formulate the 3D skeleton construction problem as a sequence of optimization problems, to shape the skeleton and place it in the 3D space while satisfying C1-continuity and intersection-free conditions. Our method is mainly for a silhouette-based sketching interface for the design of 3D objects including self-intersecting objects.

Small Agricultural Skid-steer Loader Using Belt Clutch Power Transmission (벨트클러치 전동방식의 농업용 소형 스키드 스티어 로더)

  • Since the skid-steer loader is able to work for excavating, lifting and transporting load even at the narrow space, they are widely used in the regular farm and the livestock farm. The skid-steer loader normally adopts the hydrostatic transmission because the power to move the machine backward and forward should be delivered independently on both sides of wheels. Contrast to the mechanical system such as chain and belt transmissions, however, the hydrostatic transmission is less efficient in the use of energy and more difficult in the maintenance. This study was intended to investigate the feasibility of using triangular-type belt clutch and V-belt transmission for the newly developed skid-steer loader in order to overcome the problems stated in the hydrostatic transmission. In the developed triangular-type belt clutch, the centers of driving, driven and idler sheaves are arranged in the triangular shape in a plane, and V-belts were loaded loosely on three sheaves. The power is transmitted by pressing the idler connected to a lever on the loosened V-belt. Contrast to the normal belt clutch using two sheaves, the newly developed belt clutch has the characteristics of small contact-angle of the driving sheave at no bucket load and increasing contact-angle at the time of power transmission. The results of research can be summarized as follows: 1) The developed triangular-type belt clutch adopted a spring-loaded slackside idler which could transmit more power than a fixed idler could by sacrificing the belt life. The life of V-belt used in the power transmission reached at 500 hours(6 months) when the engine power of 11.8 ㎾ was transmitted. Also, it was feasible to develop the large industrial skid-loader with the V-belt transmission by using the proper set of sheaves. 2) The developed skid-steer loader changed the rotating radius and speed with bucket loads as the conventional skid steer loader did. The rotating speed was 47 deg/s at the maximum bucket load of 2.74 kN when the minimum rotating radius was 1.5m. 3) The power required in turning at the bucket load of 2.74 kN was 4 ㎾ and the slippage of V-belt was less than 1%.
