토공수량계산 자동화를 위한 스케치 도면 요소의 그래프 위상 자동 구성 및 형태 패턴 인식에 대한 연구 (The Recoginition of Pattern of Shape and Composing the Graph Topology of Sketch Drawing Element for the Automation of Earthwork Quantity Calculation)

  • 본 연구에서는 토목 설계 엔지니어링에서 공사비 산출에 50%이상을 차지하는 토공 공종 분류 및 수량산출을 위한 스케치 도면 요소의 위상 자동 추출 및 토공 형태 패턴 자동인식 모델을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 횡단면도에서 자동으로 폐영역을 인식해 vertex(정점), edge(모서리), face(면)로 위상요소를 추출하고, 각 위상요소간의 관계를 자동 설정할 수 있도록 알고리즘을 연구하였다. 이 위상구조를 이용해 형태 패턴을 수학적으로 정의하고 형태를 자동 인식할 수 있는 모델을 제안하였다. 연구 결과로 기존 토공엔진에서 처리하기 어려웠던 토공 형태도 토공 형태 패턴 모델을 확장함으로써 쉽게 처리할 수 있었으며, 횡단면도에서 수량을 산출할 수 있는 일반적인 형태 패턴 인식 모형을 얻을 수 있었다. 개발된 모형을 이용한다면, 토목에서 다양한 분야의 토공 분류 및 수량 산출 업무를 자동화해 비용을 줄이고 수량 산출의 정확도는 높일 수 있다고 판단된다.

붙은 글자들이 포함된 인쇄체 한.영 혼용 문서에서의 효과적인 문자 인식 알고리즘 (An Efficient Character Recognition Algorithm in Printed Korean/English Documents Including Touching Characters)

  • In this paper, we present a character recognition algorithm in printed korean and english documents including touching characters. We derived two rules to segment and recognize touching characters in the bilingual documents, one from the shape characteristics of korean and english characters of the writing blocks defined in this paper, and the other from the RF (reliability factor) values generated from the classifiers. Overall classification accuracy for the KITE paper of the proposed algorithm was about 96.8% for the english abstract, and about 97.8% for the bilingual parts. Also we confirmed the proposed algorithm significantly improves the accuracy of character segmentation of the actual mixed korean and english documents including touching characters.

Two Terminals Numerical Algorithm for Distance Protection, Fault Location and Acing Faults Recognition Based on Synchronized Phasors

  • This paper presents a new numerical algorithm for fault location estimation and for faults recognition based on the synchronized phasors. The proposed algorithm is based on the synchronized phasor measured from the synchronized PMUs installed at two-terminals of the transmission lines. In order to discriminate the fault type, the arc voltage wave shape is modeled numerically on the basis of a great number of arc voltage records obtained by transient recorder. From the calculated arc voltage amplitude it can make a decision whether the fault is permanent or transient. The results of the proposed algorithm testing through computer simulation are given.

  • The principal features of a face are as follows : skin-tone, symmetry, and requisites such as shape of ellipse, eyes, nose, mouth. Also, faces have different size, various shape and position. In case of application of face recognition and detection without preprocessing, efficiency of the performance is decreased. In addition, face itself, complex background, image quality, etc. are included. Therefore, previous face recognition methods are implemented on the base of specific constraints of the face image. In this paper, we propose the efficient and automatic face detection algorithm for minimizing influence such as complex background, image quality, etc. This face detection technique consists of skin-tone, candidate face region and face region extractions.

Mass-Spring-Damper Model for Offline Handwritten Character Distortion Analysis

  • Among the various aspects of offline handwritten character patterns, it is the great variety of writing styles and variations that renders the task of computer recognition very hard. The immense variety of character shape has been recognized but rarely studied during the past decades of numerous research efforts. This paper tries to address the problem of measuring image distortions and handwritten character patterns with respect to reference patterns. This work is based on mass-spring mesh model with the introduction of simulated electric charge as a source of the external force that can aid decoding the shape distortion. Given an input image and a reference image, the charge is defined, and then the relaxation procedure goes to find the optimum configuration of shape or patterns of least potential. The relaxation process is based on the fourth order Runge-Kutta algorithm, well-known for numerical integration. The proposed method of modeling is rigorous mathematically and leads to interesting results. Additional feature of the method is the global affine transformation that helps analyzing distortion and finding a good match by removing a large scale linear disparity between two images.

3차원 모델을 이용한 입모양 인식 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (A study on the lip shape recognition algorithm using 3-D Model)

  • 최근 통신 시스템의 연구와 발전 방향은 목소리의 음성 정보와 말하는 얼굴 영상의 화상 정보를 함께 적용하므로서 음성 정보만을 제공하는 경우보다 높은 인식율을 제공한다. 따라서 본 연구는 청각장애자들의 언어 대체수단 중 하나인 구화(speechreading)에서 가장 시각적 변별력이 높은 입모양 인식을 일반 퍼스널 컴퓨터상에서 구현하고자 한다. 본 논문은 기존의 방법과 달리 말하는 영상 시퀀스에서 입모양 인식을 행하기 위해 3차원 모델을 사용하여 입의 벌어진 정도, 턱의 움직임, 입술의 돌출과 같은 3차원 특징 정보를 제공하였다. 이와 같은 특징 정보를 얻기 위해 3차원 형상 모델을 입력 동영상에 정합시키고 정합된 3차원 형상 모델에서 각 특징점의 변화량을 인식파라미터로 사용하였다. 그리고, 인식단위로 동영상을 분리하는 방법은 3차원 특징점 변화량에서 얻어지는 강도의 기울기에 의하여 이루어지고, 인식은 각각의 3차원 특징벡터를 이산 HMM 인식기의 인식 파라메타로 사용하였다. 본 논문에서는 한국어 10개 모음에 대하여 인식실험하여 비교적 높은 인식율을 얻을 수 있는 것으로 보아 본 연구에서 사용한 특징 벡터를 시간적 변별 요소로서 사용할 수 있음을 제시하였다.

iOS 플랫폼에서 Active Shape Model 개선을 통한 얼굴 특징 검출 (Improvement of Active Shape Model for Detecting Face Features in iOS Platform)

  • Facial feature detection is a fundamental function in the field of computer vision such as security, bio-metrics, 3D modeling, and face recognition. There are many algorithms for the function, active shape model is one of the most popular local texture models. This paper addresses issues related to face detection, and implements an efficient extraction algorithm for extracting the facial feature points to use on iOS platform. In this paper, we extend the original ASM algorithm to improve its performance by four modifications. First, to detect a face and to initialize the shape model, we apply a face detection API provided from iOS CoreImage framework. Second, we construct a weighted local structure model for landmarks to utilize the edge points of the face contour. Third, we build a modified model definition and fitting more landmarks than the classical ASM. And last, we extend and build two-dimensional profile model for detecting faces within input images. The proposed algorithm is evaluated on experimental test set containing over 500 face images, and found to successfully extract facial feature points, clearly outperforming the original ASM.

다른 색으로 구성된 다각형들의 분할과 이를 이용한 영상 인식 기반 칠교 퍼즐 놀이 개발 (Segmentation of Polygons with Different Colors and its Application to the Development of Vision-based Tangram Puzzle Game)

  • Tangram game consists of seven pieces of polygons such as triangle, square, and parallelogram. Typical methods of image processing for object recognition may suffer from the existence of side thickness and shadow of the puzzle pieces that are dependent on the pose of 3D-shaped puzzle pieces and the direction of light sources. In this paper, we propose an image processing method that recognizes simple convex polygon-shaped objects irrespective of thickness and pose of puzzle objects. Our key algorithm to remove the thick side of piece of puzzle objects is based on morphological operations followed by logical operations with edge image and background image. By using the proposed object recognition method, we are able to implement a stable tangram game applications designed for tablet computers with front camera. As the experimental results, recognition rate is about 86 percent and recognition time is about 1ms on average. It shows the proposed algorithm is fast and accurate to recognize tangram blocks.

차선 변경 지원을 위한 레이더 및 비전센서 융합기반 다중 차량 인식 (Multiple Vehicle Recognition based on Radar and Vision Sensor Fusion for Lane Change Assistance)

  • This paper presents a multiple vehicle recognition algorithm based on radar and vision sensor fusion for lane change assistance. To determine whether the lane change is possible, it is necessary to recognize not only a primary vehicle which is located in-lane, but also other adjacent vehicles in the left and/or right lanes. With the given sensor configuration, two challenging problems are considered. One is that the guardrail detected by the front radar might be recognized as a left or right vehicle due to its genetic characteristics. This problem can be solved by a guardrail recognition algorithm based on motion and shape attributes. The other problem is that the recognition of rear vehicles in the left or right lanes might be wrong, especially on curved roads due to the low accuracy of the lateral position measured by rear radars, as well as due to a lack of knowledge of road curvature in the backward direction. In order to solve this problem, it is proposed that the road curvature measured by the front vision sensor is used to derive the road curvature toward the rear direction. Finally, the proposed algorithm for multiple vehicle recognition is validated via field test data on real roads.

차선인식을 위한 에지검출 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (A Study on Edge Detection Algorithm for Road Lane Recognition)

  • 차선인식을 수행하기 위하여 영상의 에지검출은 필수적인 전처리 과정이다. 이러한 에지를 검출하기 위하여 여러 연구가 진행되고 있으며, 기존의 에지검출 방법에는 소벨(Sobel), 프리윗(Prewitt), 로버츠(Roberts) 방법 등이 있다. 이와 같은 방법들은 화소 분포 등에 관계 없이 전체 화소에 동일한 가중치를 적용하여 처리하므로 다소 미흡한 에지검출 결과를 나타낸다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 영상의 화소 분포 형태를 고려하여 차선인식에 적합한 가중치로 에지를 검출하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다.
