We developed a quantitative method for evaluating CEP(color expression power) in eye shadow. This method enables the cosmetic industry to measure CEP on an interval scales, so it is more accurate and reproducible than previous panel tests. Oil, colorants, Pigments and pearls are major factors affecting CEP in eye shadow formulas. We studied the oil effect on CEP using our unique method so CEP could be improved. We believe this method can be applied to other color cosmetics as well. In conclusion, we expected this method to be useful to formulator who want to improve the color expression power in color cosmetics. Additionally, we hope it will contribute toward developing the experiential know-how about color to scientific knowledge.
The applications of NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) as a vegetation index has been widely used to understand vegetation biomass and physiological activities. However, NDVI is not suitable way for monitoring vegetation stress because it is less sensitive to change in physiological state than biomass. PRI (Photochemical Reflectance Index) is well developed to present physiological activities of vegetation, particularly high-light-stress condition, and it has been adopted in several satellites to be launched in the future. Thus, the understanding of PRI performance and the development of analysis method will be necessary. This study aims to interpret the characteristics of light-stress-sensitive PRI in shadow areas and to evaluate the PRI calculated by other wavelengths (i.e., 488.9 nm, 553.6 nm, 646.9 nm, and 668.4 nm) instead of 570 nm that used in original PRI. Using airborne-based hyperspectral image, we found that PRI values were increased in shadow detection due to the reduction of high light induced physiological stress. However, the qualities of both PRI and NDVI data were dramatically decreased when the shadow index (SI) exceeded the threshold (SI<25). In addition, the PRI calculated using by 553.6 nm had best correlation with original PRI. This relationship was improved by multiple regression analysis including reflectances of RED and NIR. These results will be helpful to the understanding of physiological meaning on the application of PRI.
The organic field-effect transistors with step-edge structure were fabricated. Source and drain electrodes were obliquely deposited by vacuum evaporation. The step-edge of the gate electrode serve as a shadow mask, and the short channel is formed at the step-edge. The excellent device performances were obtained.
The purpose of this study is to present important guidelines for effective eye-shadow color coordination according to T.P.O. such as 'Day time to Night', 'Special Occasions', 'Holiday Accents', 'Seasonal Looks' and 'Animated Characters'. The method is as follows; This study examined the 100 works of her published in the?500 EYE MAKEUP DESIGNS?. For this research analysis, three specialists selected a total of 100 photo-works through 3 rounds of evaluation. This study analysis was conducted based on the colors and tones of eye-shadows identified under Munsell's basic color chart. The study findings are as follows; First, 'Day time to Night' was found to have similarity coloration most frequently, presenting a more stable look in the Natural makeup. Second, 'Special Occasions' showed similarity, accent, and complex colorations mainly. Third, 'Holiday Accents' showed diverse types of colorations such as accent, complex, similarity and contrast. Forth, 'Seasonal Looks' was found to use a variety of colorations including similarity, contrast, accent, gradation and complex. Fifth, 'Animated Characters' showed contrast coloration the most for dramatic effect along with accent and complex colorations to give a unique and symbolic look. The color scheme database(DB) obtained in this study will be present important guidelines for future in eye-shadow makeup design.
The shadow, reflection, interference, and diffraction are proper phenomena concerning sound that is a kind of wave. By the late nineteenth century, similar optical phenomena had been detected already but these phenomena concerning sound had not been convincingly detected. It was Rayleigh who succeeded in detecting those phenomena without any reasonable doubt by the virtue of his original instruments and smart experimental settings. Rayleigh could detect the sound shadow by using the corner of a building and erase the shadow by some reflectors. And he constructed some apparatus similar to Young's interference apparatus famous in optics to detect the sonic interference. Furthermore, he first succeeded in illustrating the acoustical effectiveness of Poisson's disk by which optical diffraction had already been well known, and tested the effect of diffraction by spherical obstacles to ascertain that the result coincided with his theory.
Majority of over 100 kW capacity photo voltaic (PV) power generation system was constructed on the plate ground of soil. Rarely PV system installed on concrete or building but it usually be under 25 kW capacity. On the soil ground the weeds growen up and it's shadow influenced to decrease of amount of PV power generation. This work analysis the weeds shadow's effect to decrease of PV power generation with 100 kW capacity of real PV power generation system in Yeungnam University, Finally the weed shadow"s influence value through the real field monitoring Data is suggested for give a standard management time of weeds to avoid the negative influence on whole power plant. Moreover the hot spot which is generated by long term partial shallow on PV module also can detected with the result of this work. It also suggested as a standard value of monitoring Data.

The main object of this study is to prove the effectiveness of Landsat data in detecting the stressed areas in forest by extracting these areas. And also to choose the effective bands for this type of survey and to reduce the effect of shadow in forest to improve the accuracy of classification are the other objects. In this study Landsat-5 TM data is used and image processing techniques such as spatial filtering and ratio are taken to reduce the effect of shadow and to improve the classification accuracy. As a result following conclusions are obtained. First, Landsat TM data is useful to detect the stressed areas in forest. Second, when detecting the stressed area, band 4 and 5 are the most effective. Third, spatial filtering and ratio are useful to reudce the effect of shadow and improve the classification accuracy. Especially, ratio has great effect on improving the classification accuracy between forest and other areas.

The optical triangulation method has been used as a non-contact measuring method of three dimensional object whape. But this measuring method has narrow measuring range, non-linearity on steep slope surface and shadow effect. In this study, we discussed a new optical measurement method to overcome these kinds of demerits. The advantage of this new method is that it is possible to measure precisely the object shape having the steep slope surface without shadow effect. As exper- imental results, maximum displacement error was 200 .mu. m over the whole measuring when the incident angle on the object surface was within 60 degree.
Accurate classification of water area is an preliminary step to accurately analyze the flooded area and damages caused by flood. This step is especially useful for monitoring the region where annually repeating flood is a problem. The accurate estimation of flooded area can ultimately be utilized as a primary source of information for the policy decision. Although SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imagery with its own energy source is sensitive to the water area, its shadow effect similar to the reflectance signature of the water area should be carefully checked before accurate classification. Especially when we want to identify small flood area with mountainous environment, the step for removing shadow effect turns out to be essential in order to accurately classify the water area from the SAR imagery. In this paper, the flood area was classified and monitored using multi-temporal RADARSAT SAR images of Ok-Chun and Bo-Eun located in Chung-Book Province taken in 12th (during the flood) and 19th (after the flood) of August, 1998. We applied several steps of geometric and radiometric calculations to the SAR imagery. First we reduced the speckle noise of two SAR images and then calculated the radar backscattering coefficient $(\sigma^0)$. After that we performed the ortho-rectification via satellite orbit modeling developed in this study using the ephemeris information of the satellite images and ground control points. We also corrected radiometric distortion caused by the terrain relief. Finally, the water area was identified from two images and the flood area is calculated accordingly. The identified flood area is analyzed by overlapping with the existing land use map.
Temperature fields and temperature deformations induced by time-varying solar radiation, shadow, and heat exchange are of great importance for the ride safety and quality of the maglev system. Accurate evaluations of their effects on the dynamic performances are necessary to avoid unexpected loss of service performance. This paper presents a numerical approach to determine temperature effects on the maglev train/guideway interaction system. Heat flux density and heat transfer coefficient of different components of a 25 m simply supported concrete guideway on Shanghai High-speed Maglev Commercial Operation Line is calculated, and an appropriate section mesh is used to consider the time-varying shadow on guideway surfaces. Based on the heat-stress coupled technology, temperature distributions and deformation fields of the guideway are then computed via Finite Element method. Combining guideway irregularities and thermal deformations as the external excitations, a numerical maglev train/guideway interaction model is proposed to analyze the temperature effect. The responses comparison including and excluding temperature effect indicates that the temperature deformation plays an important role in amplifying the response of a running maglev, and the parameter analysis results suggest that climatic and environmental factors significantly affect the temperature effects on the coupled maglev system.
