옥시테트라사이크린(OTC) 수간주입 상처에 대한 밤나무의 반응 (Responses of Castanea crenata to Injection Wound for Oxytetracycline(OTC))

  • 밤나무에 두가지 방법으로 oxytetracycline(OTC)을 수간주입 한 다음 주입구멍 주변의 변화를 조사하였다. 주입구멍은 지름 1cm와 0.5cm를 비교하였고, 수간주입은 9월에 실시하였다. 수간주입한 나무는 흉고직경 10, 15, 20cm이었다 모든 공시목들은 외견상 왕성한 수세를 유지하고 있었다. 이듬해 7월의 결과조사에서, 외간상 부후의 징후가 보이는 나무는 없었다. 하지만, 수피를 벗겨보면 목재부분에서는 뚜렷한 변색이 일어나고 있었다. 변색의 정도는 주입방법에 따른 수간주입구멍의 크기에 따라 매우 민감한 변화를 보여, 1cm 주입구멍에서의 변색부가 0.5cm 주입구멍에서의 변색부보다 더 컸다. 일부 공시목에서 주입구멍을 기점으로 하여 목부가 길이방향으로 갈라져 있는 현상이 나타났는데, 그 길이는 0.5cm 주입구멍에서보다는 1cm주입구멍에서 더 길었다. 갈라진 부분에서는 새조직이 자라나와 갈라진 부분을 메워가고 있었다. 수간주입이 나무에 미치는 피해는 주입구멍의 크기가 0.5cm일 때보다는 1cm일 때 더 컸다.

Automatic Control Of Dissolved Oxygen In Activated Sludge Aeration Tank

  • The quality of the effluent from an activated sludge aeration tank can deteriorate when the substrate removal rate decreases due to an abrupt reduction in the DO concentration, which is affected by such operating conditions as the loading rate, temperature, wastewater composition, and so on. In this research, a DO control system that includes a PI (proportional-integral) controller/Hiraoka controller was developed and applied to a pilot-scale activated sludge process, then its acceptability was estimated. The applicability of the respiration rate to DO control was also estimated. The respiration rate indicated a variety of input organic loading rates, which is the main disturbance to the DO concentration in an aeration tank. When the influent concentration incrementally decreased and increased between CODcr 1,000 mg/l and 100 mg/l, the control system with a PI controller exhibited a good llperformance-the average DO concentrations were 2.00$\pm$0.14 mg/l and 1.88$\pm$0.15 mg/l (set value was 2.0 mg/l), respectively, and the settling time was just 10 minites. When the control system was operated for 4 days, the DO concentration was 1.99$\pm$0.18 mg/l and 32.6% of the air flowrate was saved. However, the fluctuations in the respiration rates and air flowrates were severe, which could be harmful to the stability of the biomass and mechanical stability of the blower. A possible approach to solve this problem may be the simultaneous control of the loading rate and DO concentration.

  • 본 논문에서는 항공기 팬 블레이드에 적용되는 복합재와 금속 간의 접합 구조물에 대한 온도, 습도에 따른 접착제의 물성 변화에 관해 연구하였다. 항공기 운용 시 노출되는 환경 조건을 고려하여 상온 건조(Room Temperature Dry, RTD), 고온 흡습(Evaluated Temperature Wet, ETW), 저온 건조(Cold Temperature Dry, CTD) 세가지 환경에서 강도 시험을 수행하였다. 접착전단강도 시험은 ASTM D3528을 기준으로 수행하였고, 파손 영역에 대한 마이크로 구조 특성을 SEM이미지를 통해 분석하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면 RTD 환경에서의 전단강도 대비하여 ETW 환경에서 72.8% 저하되었으며, CTD 환경에서는 56.5% 증가되었다. 이는 고온 및 수분 흡습이 접착제의 기계적 특성에 큰 영향을 미치는 것을 확인했고, 저온 환경에서는 모재와 접착제 모두 취성의 증가로 인해 접착 전단 강도가 향상된 것으로 분석되었다.

  • In water treatment process using microfiltration membranes, manganese is a substance that causes inorganic membrane fouling. As a result of analysis on the operation data taken from I WTP(Water Treatment Plant), it was confirmed that the increase of TMP was very severe during the period of manganese inflow. The membrane fouling fastened the increase of TMP and shortened the service time of filtration or the cleaning cycle. The TMP of the membrane increased to the maximum of $2.13kgf/cm^2$, but it was recovered to the initial level ($0.17kgf/cm^2$) by the 1st acid cleaning step. It was obvious that the main membrane fouling contaminants are due to inorganic substances. As a result of the analysis on the chemical waste, the concentrations of aluminum(146-164 mg/L) and manganese(110-126 mg/L) were very high. It is considered that aluminum was due to the residual unreacted during coagulation step as a pretreatment process. And manganese is thought to be due to the adsorption on the membrane surface as an adsorbate in feed water component during filtration step. For the efficient maintenance of the membrane filtration facilities, optimization of chemical concentration and CIP conditions is very important when finding the abnormal level of influent including foulants such as manganese.

  • Pan-Enterovirus (Pan-EV) infects millions of children and infants worldwide every year. As severe infections have recently been reported, the need for monitoring has consequently intensified. Pan-EV is a categorical name for waterborne enteroviruses belonging to the Picornaviridae family, and includes a wide range of pathogens including Coxsackievirus (CoxV), Echovirus (EcoV) and Enterovirus (EV). In this study, we proposed an optimal RT-nested PCR method for diagnosis of various types of Pan-EV in an aquatic environment and developed a positive control. Considering detection sensitivity, specific reaction, and final identification, one condition capable of amplifying 478 bp among the four candidates in the 1st round PCR (RT-PCR) and one condition in the 2nd round PCR (nested PCR) were selected. Through the detection of nucleic acids extracted from 123 groundwater samples and the detection sensitivity test based on artificial spiking in the sample, the methods are optimal for non-disinfected water samples such as groundwater. We developed a positive control for Pan-EV detection that can be amplified to different sizes under the two conditions. Accuracy could be further improved by testing for contamination from the control group. The method proposed in this study and the positive control developed are expected to be used in monitoring Pan-EV in aquatic environments including groundwater through future research using more samples.

  • We simulated a forest fire which was occurred in Yangyang area on 2005 and compared a results between two different weather conditions(real weather condition and mean weather condition since 1968) using FARSITE, which is a forest fire spread simulator for preventing and predicting fire in USDA. And, we researched a problem in the transition for introducing, so we serve the basic method for prevention and attacking fire. In the result, severe weather condition on 2005 effected a forest fire behavior. The rate of spread under real weather condition was about 4 times faster than mean weather condition. Damaged area was about 10 time than mean weather condition. Therefore, Climate change will make a more sever fire season. As we will encounter to need for accurate prediction in near future, it will be necessary to predict a forest fire linked with future wether and fuel condition.

  • Recently, research and development for a number of repairing material like an epoxy-based material and polymer-cementitious material as well as anti-washout underwater concrete have been carried out. But, the study on tile materials for the concrete structure exposed to a wetted condition is at a standstill and there are not any suitable reference data at a repairing work for the concrete structure at a splash as well as a structure under severe moisture condition. In this study, the material, called as “ceramic metal”, with an excellent mobility and plasticity as well as with a high bond strength and durability of freezing-thawing resistant properties under any environmental conditions was developed. And, the experimental evaluations for the utility wert widely performed.

  • It is important to estimate exactly wave forces acting on various types of offshore structures under the severe environmental conditions in the ocean site. This paper presents an easy experimental method which deals with transient waves. The proposed scheme made it possible to generate breaking waves at any position in the wave tank by changing the maximum slope of the component waves. The theoretical and experimental methods were investigated by generating concentrated waves which acted on a single and multiple cylinders. The waves forces increased rapidly when the models encountered breaking waves. The theoretical results underestimates the forces due to breaking waves. Therefore, the effects due to breaking waves should be considered carefully in the design process of a structure under the influence of breaking waves.

  • Environmental contamination creates shortages of potable water. In such situations, the leakage of water due to breakage or aging of rubber valve seats is a serious problem. Rubber is apt to break when it is placed between two materials that contact each other. One way to avoid water leakage due to rubber damage and breakdown is to replace the rubber with metal, which is currently taking place in water distribution systems. In tribology, a severe form of wear is characterized by local macroscopic material transfer or removal, or by problems with sliding protrusions when two solid surfaces experience relative sliding under load. One of the major problems when metal slides is the occurrence of galling. Experimentally, various conditions influence incipient galling, such as hardness, surface roughness, temperature, load, velocity, and the external environment. This study sought to verify the galling tendencies of metal according to its hardness, surface roughness, load, and sliding velocity, and determine the quantitative effect of each factor on the galling tendencies.
