The settlement era($1845{\sim}1943$) in Shanghai was divided as periods parting point by the establishment of habitats, the establishment of the International Settlement and its two times expansions, the establishment of the French Settlement and its three times expansions. Investigations on the formation process and its characteristics of two settlement parks during each period were carried out. The formation process of Shanghai settlement park was divided simply into the settlement park foundation time correspond to the settlement expansion time(the International Settlement was from 1845 to 1898, the French Settlement was from 1849 to 1913) and the settlement park development time after the settlement expansion(the International Settlement is from 1899 to 1943, the French Settlement is from 1914 to 1943) by the characteristics such as its forming time, quantity and distribution.

Settlement in the Shallow Foundation are presented. Various practical methods to calculate immediate settlement, consolidation settlement, and secondary compression of the compressive soils under the shallow foundation are summerized. Especially the critical depth for settlement calculation, the contact pressure, the allowable settlement of the shallow foundation are recommended.

영동지역 청동기시대 취락구조에 대한 연구는 한정된 지역과 유적에 대한 조사가 이루어진 상태이고, 대부분의 전기취락에서는 주거지만이 조사되어 종합적인 검토를 할 수 없는 상황이다. 전기취락은 이른 시기에는 취락의 규모가 작으며, 방내리 단계부터 구릉 내에 주거 점유 면적이 늘어남에 따라 자연히 주거지 수가 증가하면서 취락의 규모가 확대되는 양상이 보여진다. 중기취락은 현재 방동리 A 유적에서 최초로 확인되었으나, 취락구조를 검토하기에는 자료의 증가가 필요하다. 원형점토대토기 단계인 후기취락은 하천 주변에 위치한 구릉성 취락인 송현리 취락과 고지성 취락에 해당하는 방동리 취락에서는 주거지, 환호, 수혈유구, 소성유구, 분묘, 대형의 공공주거지 등의 대규모 원형 점토대토기 취락이 조사되어 청동기시대 후기의 문화양상과 성격 및 취락구조를 파악할 수 있는 자료를 제공해 주었다.

Foundation settlements(settlements at the embankment surface and ground) has been evaluating to satisfy the strict allowable residual settlement level from the start of the construction of Gyungbu high speed railway. This is because both embankment and ground settlement could be important to minimize the residual settlement after the construction of concrete track. Ground settlement is caused by the increase of effective stress resulting from embankment. The causes of embankment settlement could be come from different sources, for example, the increase of effective stress, rainfall, creep behaviors. Based on the field measured data, this paper analysed the settlement of ground and embankment settlement. The biggest settlement at the embankment surface was 9.7mm during 246days at the STA 000k922.5. The calculated settlement of embankment itself was 8.6mm at the same places. These results conclude that the compressive settlement of embankment could not negligible.

This paper is intended to review the major problems of rural settlement development and attempts to find the direction to enhance the effectiveness of rural settlement development policies and strategies. Small amount of financial resources being mobilized, similar policies for rural settlement development have been implemented sectionally by the respective sectoral goverment bodies. It has resulted in a lot of coulict and ineffectiveness in the process of rural settlement development To rationalize the rural settlement development, there should be some change in the current practice of the project: integration of development efforts, consideration of regional situation and settlement system, and introduction of principles and criteria suitable for rural settlement planning.

The objective of this research was to develop a rural settlement demand model to analyze the determinants of settlement demand of urban residents. The point aimed at from model development was deriving stated preference of potential consumers towards rural settlement through setting a hypothetical market, and using settlement subsidy as a surrogate variable for price in the demand model. The adequate demand model deducted from hypothetical market data was derived from the basis of Hanemann's utility difference theory. In the rural settlement demand model, willingness to accept was expressed by a function of settlement subsidy. Data utilized in the analysis was collected from surveys of households nationwide. According to inferred results of the demand model, settlement subsidy had a significant influence on increasing demand for rural settlement. A significant common element was found among variables affecting demand increase through demand curve shift. The majority group of those with high rural settlement demand sought agricultural activity as their main motive, due to harsh urban environments aggravated by unstable job market conditions. Subsequently, restriction of income opportunities in rural areas does not produce an entrance barrier for potential rural settlers. Moreover, this argument could be supported by the common trend of those with high rural settlement demand generally tending to have low incomes. Due to such characteristics of concerned groups of rural settlement demand, they tended to react susceptibly to the subsidy provided by the government and local autonomous entities.

신선한 쓰레기 매립지에서는 쓰레기에 포함되어 있는 유기물의 분해로 인하여 장기간에 걸쳐 상당한 양의 침하가 유발되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 여러 신선한 쓰레기 매립지들의 침하자료에 대하여 기존에 제안된 몇몇 침하모델들을 적용하였으며. 얻어진 침하예측곡선과 장기침하량을 분석함으로써 분해로 의한 침하양상이 장기침하량 예측에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 사용된 모델과는 상관없이 선정된 모델변수 값들이 분해효과를 포함하지 않는 한 장기침하를 적절히 평가할 수 없었다. 몇몇 예측방법 가운데 Gibson & Lo 모델과 쌍곡선 모델은 쓰레기 매립지의 장기침하 거동특성을 비교적 타당성 있게 예측한 반면에 power creep law는 상당히 과다예측하는 것으로 나타났다.

Most construction works on the soft ground adopt instrumentation to manage settlement and stability of the embankment. The rapid progress of the information technologies and the digital data acquisition on the soft ground instrumentation has led to the fast-growing amount of data. Although valuable information about the behaviour of the soft ground may be hiding behind the data, most of the data are used restrictedly only for the management of settlement and stability. One of the critical issues on soft ground instrumentation is the long-term settlement prediction. Some observational settlement analysis methods are used for this purpose. But the reliability of the analysis results is remained in vague. The knowledge could be discovered from a large volume of experiences on the observational settlement analysis. In this article, we present a database to store settlement records and data mining procedure. A large volume of knowledge about observational settlement prediction were collected from the database by applying the filtering algorithm and knowledge discovery algorithm. Statistical analysis revealed that the reliability of observational settlement analysis depends on stay duration and estimated degree of consolidation.

Currently the settlement system which is used at credit card settlement from the member store of the off-line credit card is composed of the credit card settlement terminal, the VAN company which does a settlement relay service and the credit card company. When the obstacle occurs from the credit card company, the VAN company which does a settlement relay service conducts an approval vicarious execution, but when the obstacle occurs from the VAN company, the credit card settlement service is not accomplished smoothly. The dissertation proposes the credit card settlement system which receives a settlement relay service that credit card settlement terminal uses a telegram conversion Agent from other VAN company when the VAN company obstacle occurs.

The track is an important component of rail structures. The characteristic of the track settlement must be confirmed in order to evaluate the stability of the track. It is effected by action load and the characteristic of the track material. This study investigates the mechanism of the track settlement and the effect of initial settlement and long-term settlement on the characteristic of the track settlement through literature survey. It tries to observe the future research direction of track settlement.
