This paper describes design and implementation of the DIDL(Digital Item Declaration Language) parser and Session mobility in Digital Item Adaptation. The DIDL is a declaration language which is a uniform and flexible abstraction and interoperable schema for declaring Digital Items. Session mobility specifies a mechanism to preserve a user's current state of interaction with a Digital Item. In this paper, Session mobility is implemented through the DIDL. For session mobility, the XDI (context digital item) shall capture the configuration-state of a Content digital item, shich is defined by the state of Selection elements in DIDL.

Most calls of a called user are invoked by the group of calling users. This call pattern is defined as call locality. Similarly Internet sessions including IP telephony calls have this pattern. We define it session locality. In this paper, we propose a caching scheme to support session locality in hierarchical SIP networks. The proposed scheme can be applied easily by adding only one filed to cache to a data structure of the SIP mobility agent. And this scheme can reduce signaling cost, database access cost and session setup delay to locate a called user. Moreover, it distributes the load on the home registrar to the SIP mobility agents. Our performance evaluation shows the proposed caching scheme outperforms the hierarchical SIP scheme when session to mobility ratio is high.

In this paper, we propose a novel Route_Reconf message as the RSVP message to maintain an RSVP session for hard handoff and consider path-comparing route (PCR) a PCR algorithm to find an intermediate node in the charge of downlink re-establishment. And, we consider information form each mode for the PCR algorithm, which also reduces the frequency and amount of exchanged RSVP message to minimize packet loss and delay between an intermediate node and a receiver. According to the proposed algorithm, a new support node (NSN) and an existing support node (ESN) along the RSVP path can be found; the former is a supporting RSVP session node newly searched and the latter is the last supporting node holding the previous session after handoff. On receiving the Route_Reconf message at the ESN, a new allocated route from a NSN to the MN waiting for the handoff via a new AR is configured by the ESN.

The home network is generally separated from the Internet, as it is made up of a private network due to security issues and the lack of IPv4 addresses space. Also, a user may want to move from a terminal to another terminal connected in the home network during communicating with people outside the home. In this case, people connected in the Internet, or another home network could not communicate the user at the home. These limitations prevent a SIP-capable device connected in the home network from communicating with another SIP-capable device connected in the Internet or the outside of the home network. To overcome the limitations, This paper proposes the Adaptive SIP Application Server System as a software architecture that a user inside of the home can communicate with people outside of the home when the home is composed of a private IP-based network. Moreover, the proposed architecture provides the session mobility that allows the user to maintain a media session even if changing the terminal inside of the home during the session established. The proposed system was implemented over a home server device which acts functionality as a connection point for transmitting IP packets between a home network and the Internet.

Mobile traffic is increasing a masse because of the propagation of the Internet and the development of wireless mobile technology. Accordingly, the Network Local Mobility Management (NETLMM) working group [1] of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has standardized Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) [2] as a protocol for accomplishing the transmissibility of mobile terminals. PMIPv6 is a network-led IP-based mobility management protocol, which can control terminal mobility without depending on the type of access system or the capability of the terminal. By combining PMIPv6 and the mobility of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), we can establish terminal mobility and session mobility through a more effective route. The mobility function can be improved and the overlap of function reduced as compared to that in the case of independent operation. PMIPv6 is appropriate for a non-real-time service using TCP, and SIP is appropriate for a real-time service using RTP/UDP. Thus, in the case of a terminal using both services, an effective mobility management is possible only by using PMIPv6 together with SIP. In order to manage mobility in this manner, researches on PMIPv6-SIP are in progress. In line with this trend, this paper suggests a new PMIPv6-SIP architecture where when a mobile terminal conducts a handover, a network-led handover while maintaining the session without the addition of a special function or middleware is possible along with effective performance evaluation through mathematical modeling by comparing the delay and the packet loss that occur during the handover to the Pure-SIP.
The mobile Virtual Private Network (MVPN) of Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is not designed to support NEwork MObility (NEMO) and is not suitable for real-time applications. Therefore, an architecture and protocol which supports VPN in NEMO are needed. In this paper, we proposed the cost-reduced secure mobility management scheme (CR-SeMMS) which is designed for real-time applications in conjunction with VPN and also which is based on the session initiation protocol (SIP). Our scheme is to support MVPN in NEMO, so that the session is well maintained while the entire network is moved. Further, in order to reduce the authentication delay time which considers as a delaying factor in hands-off operations, the signaling time which occurs to maintain the session is shortened through proposing the hands-off scheme adopting an authentication method based on HMAC based One Time Password (HOTP). Finally, our simulation results show the improvement of the average hands-off performance time between our proposed scheme and the existing schemes.

A session transfer method, referred to as a Recipient Serving-call session control function (S-CSCF) Assured (RSA), is proposed in order to support both session mobility and consistency in IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) based next generation network (NGN). RSA session transfer simplifies a basic session transfer operation specified in [1] by using the user agent client (UAC) like characteristics of an S-CSCF. To show its efficiency, the session transfer delay and the traffic cost of RSA session transfer are investigated and compared with those of existing session transfer applications, including Assured and Consultative session transfers, by practically considering multiple session transfer failures. It is shown that RSA session transfer can further improve user experience by reducing session transfer delay as well as traffic cost than Assured and Consultative session transfers.

This paper proposes a user mobility management scheme which supports seamless service even if a user changes his accessing terminal in service in IP-based convergence network. Most of ongoing researches concerning mobility management as well as the existing mobility schemes have been focused to support terminal mobility. It is limited to support a variety of mobility types such as user mobility. The proposed scheme uses the mapping relationship between UID(User Identifier), user specific identifier and TID(Terminal Identifier), specific terminal identifier and forms packet address with user specific permanent 3 layer address for session continuity in case of user mobility. We numerically analyze and compare handover signaling cost between the existing user mobility scheme and the proposed scheme. The result shows that the proposed scheme has lower handover signaling cost than the existing one, [1].
