Servo control system of electrostatic micro-actuator for micro robots

  • In mechanical systems in which the dynamics of armatures is dominated by electrostatic forces, motions will generally be unstable. This paper deals with the control problems of this kind of micro electrostatic device systems. In these systems, the mass of micro mechanical parts is so small that the inertia term in the equation of motion is negligible. However, nonlinear terms, such as friction and driving force, become dominant. The purpose of this paper is to realize the stable motion without delay and, overshoot etc. A micro-mechanical system used in this paper consists of a plane wafer with striped electrodes converted with an insulation layer and thin cylindrical roller is placed over on it. The performance of motions is confirmed by some simulations.

  • In the recent day, fatigue life prediction techniques play a major role in the design of components in the ground vehicle industry. Full scale durability testing in the laboratory is an essential of any fatigue life evaluation of components or structures of the automotwe vehicle. Component testing is part~cularly important in today's highly competitive industries where the design to reduce weight and production costs must be balanced with the necessity to avoid expensive service failure. Generally, multi-axial road simulator is used to carry out the fatigue test and the vibration test. In this paper, the algorithm and software to realize the real road profile are developed. The validity of the software are verified by applying the belgian road, the city road, the highway, and the gravel road. The results of the above experiment show that the real road profiles are realized well after loth iteration.

공기압 구동장치를 이용한 정밀위치제어 (Accurate Positioning with a Pneumatic Driving Apparatus)

  • The accurate position control of pneumatic driving apparatus is considered in this paper. In pneumatically actuated positioning systems, accurate positioning as an electrical servo has been known to be difficult because of the friction force and compressibility of the air. For good control performance of the pneumatic system, an actuator mounted with externally pressurized air bearings is produced to compensate for friction force. For the controller design, the governing equation of the pneumatic driving apparatus is derived. In order to reduce the nonlinear characteristics of the control valve, linearized control input is derived from the relation between the effective area of the valve and the control input. The experimental results are presented to show the results of the improved position control of the pneumatic driving apparatus.

전기체 구조시험의 덤프밸브 조절절차 개발; (Setup Procedure of Dump Valve for Full-Scale Airframe Test)

  • This paper present a procedure of meter-out flow control method for dump valve in full-scale airframe test. Emergency stop, which results in dump state, can be happened during full-scale airframe test by several causes. Because servo valve can't control hydraulics actuator in the dump state, pressure in cylinder chamber may rise abruptly and overload can be acted to the test article. In this paper, the procedure and technology of orifice setting are investigated to protect the test article from unexpected loads by dump. The test results show that the presented methods decrease peak loads and improve unloading characteristics of hydraulic actuators in the dump state.

  • This paper deals with the development of the PMSM(Permanent magnet synchronous motor) system for the electrical actuator, For the high control performance and reliability of PMSM, accurate information of rotor position is essential. Most of PMSM for the position control use the encoder or resolver for the information of rotor position. But these are very expensive. So, in this paper, using of the magnetic and linear hall-effect sensor is proposed. It can reduce the cost of motor systems and get the good performance of PMSM control.

  • A dual-stage positioner for fast and fine robotic manipulations is presented. By adopting the merits of both coarse and fine actuator, a desirable system having the capacity of large workspace with high resolution of motion is enabled. We have constructed an ultra precision XY positioner with dual-stage mechanism where the PZT driven fine stage is mounted on the motor driven XY positioner and applied it to fine tracking controls and micro-tele operations as a slave manipulator. We describe essential merits of the compound actuation mechanism and some control strategies to successfully utilize it with proper servo system design. Through experimental results, the effectiveness of the coarse/fine manipulation by the dual-stage positioner will be shown.

In this paper, the operation software for simultaneously driving 3-axis simulator is developed and the real-time signals of input-output data are displayed in window of PC. Moreover, the displacements and the loads of 3-axis actuators are calibrated separately and the operating characteristics of the actuators are evaluated.

  • A flexible pointing system mounted on top of a vehicle suffers from performance degradation due to bending vibrations as the vehicle runs on a bump course. In order to improve the pointing performance, the pointing structure's vibrations should be suppressed. In this paper, a nonlinear controller is designed to control the tip position of the pointing system while actively suppressing the vibrations. To cope with high order dynamics and nonlinearities of the plant and hydraulic actuating system, a two-stage sliding mode controller is devised. The desired actuating pressure is obtained in the first stage and then the in put current In the hydraulic servo system is computed to generate the pressure. The simulation results show the effectiveness of this scheme and improvements in pointing accuracy.

Robust Minimum-Time Control with Coarse/Fine Dual-Stage Mechanism

  • A robust minimum-time control (RMTC) strategy is addressed and it is extended to the dual-stage servo design. Rather than conventional switching type sub-optimal controls, it is a reference following control approach where the predetermined minimum-time trajectory (MTT) is tracked by the perturbation compensator based feedback controller. First, the minimum-time trajectory for a mass-damper system is derived. Then, the perturbation compensator to achieve robust tracking performance in spite of model uncertainty and external disturbance is suggested. The RMTC is also applied to the dual-stage positioner which consists of coarse actuator and fine one. To best utilize the actuation redundancy of the dual-stage mechanism, a null-motion controller to actively regulate the relative motion between the two stages is formulated. The performance of RMTC is validated through simulation and experiment.

In-Process Cutter Runout Compensation Using Repetitive Learning Control

  • This paper presents the in-process compensation to control cutter ronout and to improve the machined surface quality. Cutter ronout compensation system consists of the micro-positioning servo system with piezoelectric actuator which is embeded in the sliding table to manipulate radial depth of cut in real-time. Cutting force feedback control was proposed in the angle domain based upon repetitive learning control strategy to eliminate chip load variation in end milling process. Micro-positioning control due to adaptive actuation force response improves the machined surface quality by cutter ronout compensation.
