  • The purposes of this study were: a) to develop the a quality measurement tool for the contract-managed hospital foodservice, and b) to evaluate their performance with the developed quality measurement tool, and c) to verify the reliability and validity of the quality measurement tool. The developed quality measurement tool comprised two parts, which were foodservice management and medical nutrition care service. The foodservice management part was classified into six functional categories which were Menu, Procurement and Storage, Production and Distribution, Facility and Utility, Sanitation and Safety, and Management and Evaluation. The medical nutrition care service part indicated the medical nutrition care provided. Quality measurement tool had 91 standards and 324 indicators. The quality measurement tools were distributed to the hospital foodservice manager employed by the foodservice company. The 324 indicators were measured by foodservice manager on the 5-Likert-type scales, and then adapted to a 100 point scale. The SPSS Ver. 11.0 was used for statistical analysis. The categories whose scores were evaluated as being high were Procurement', General Sanitation', Personal sanitation' and Waste' and the categories whose scores were evaluated as being low were Diet Order Manual', Standard Recipe', Appropriateness (Facility and Utility)', Check (Facility and Utility)'and Information Management'. All the categories of medical nutrition service were evaluated as having seriously low scores. Therefore, it was necessary for the contract-managed hospital foodservice to improve its performance in the area of medical nutrition care service. • Objectives: Recently, the utility rate of Korean-Medical service has been a 6 percent of the domestic market share in medical service, so there is a lot of effort to increase utility rate of Korean medical service. However, in spite of the importance of image to promotion, there are still few studies about image of Korean medicine. Thus, the purpose of this study was to suggest ways to increase utility rate of Korean medical service by surveying and analysing recognition of image of Korean Medicine. Methods: People aged between 20s and 40s were targets of investigation. We divided respondents into three groups depending on relation approximation with Korean medicine (weak-related group, normal-related group, strong-related group). The questionnaire consisted of questions about images of Korean medicine, conducted through online and personal interviews. Results: In total, 282 members responded to the survey and the results of the analysis were as follows. The more a person was related to Korean medicine, the greater the tendency to experience Korean medical service. The most associated taste about Korean medical institutions was Bitterness, smell was smell of Korean medicine, color was yellow, feeling was warm, sound (instrument) was drum, and treatment pattern was Acupuncture, respectively. The most associated image of acupuncture was painful, and the most associated age of Korean medical doctors was 40s. The most associated general term of Korean medicine was physical constitution, and most associated pathological term was extravasated blood. Conclusions: This study can be very useful for future image marketing of Korean medicine because there have been no other studies about image on Korean medicine before now. But this study has also some limits like area, respondent selection, etc., so a more detailed and comprehensive survey is needed.

  • Purpose - This study posits that sustainable mobility of the sharing economy plays a key role to consider environment benefits. The purpose of this study is to investigate the bicycle-sharing economy as an emerging and alternative mode of transportation service and provide managerial and policy implications. The bicycle-sharing economy is still at an early stage of introduction as a transportation mode, while the governmental sector is promoting public bicycle-sharing to encourage bicycle as a substitute for private cars. Research design, data, and methodology - This study analyzed the current status of bicycle sharing programs through a survey that was distributed randomly to users and non-users across the country. Using factor analysis, satisfaction and loyalty for the existing users and intention to use and expected satisfaction for the potential users were examined in relation to utility factors. Results - The results show that economic utility affects satisfaction for user, while storage, mobility, and economic utility affects intention to use for potential users. The findings of this study indicate that in order to promote a bicycle-sharing scheme, it would be better to focus on the scheme's economic advantage to be truly effective. Conclusions - The findings of the study could be applicable to future directions of the sharing economy as a means to achieve the sustainable development of society.

  • This study proposes a mathematical model to estimate the economic value of weather forecast service, among which the precipitation forecast service is focused. The value is calculated in terms of users' satisfaction or dissatisfaction resulted from the users' decisions made by using the precipitation probabilistic forecasts and thresholds. The satisfaction values can be quantified by the traditional value score model, which shows the scaled utility values relative to the perfect forecast information. This paper extends the value score concept to a collective value score model which is defined as a weighted sum of users' satisfaction based on threshold distribution in a group of the users. The proposed collective value score model is applied to the picnic scenario by using four hypothetical sets of probabilistic forecasts, i.e., under-confident, over-confident, under-forecast and over-forecast. The application results show that under-confident type of forecasts outperforms the others as a measure of the maximum collective value regardless of users' dissatisfaction patterns caused by two types of forecast errors, e.g., miss and false alarm.

  • This paper proposed a service satisfaction index in the service design. We utilize the service blueprint as the basic tool for the service process analysis, construct a service flow fishbone diagram which consists of the encounters representing the interaction between customer and service deliverer. To evaluate the service satisfactions of the service element a service satisfaction function is used. The service satisfaction function has the generic properties of the prospect theory with the probabilistic utility value in order to evaluate the service bundle which Is constructed by tangible and intangible service elements. A numerical example using the A/S service of Electronic Co. is presented for the verification.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse statistically the relation between medical service quality and managerial performance. And then the way of analysis is the regression analysis that independent variable is service quality, dependent variable is the volume of revenue, the number of patients and the rate of beds utility, and dummy variable is the number of beds, ownership and region. The sample hospitals were the 113 hospitals on general hospitals more than 300beds which were consisted of 20 public hospitals, 41 corporate hospitals and 52 college hospitals, and also distributed 67 hospitals on big city and 46 hospitals other city. The sample hospitals were selected from the Korean Hospital Association and the data of the year 2003 and 2004. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSSWIN 10.0 version, and the study hypothesis was tested using regression analysis. The findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, as a result of analysing hypothesis 1. In the study of the relationship between the service quality and the revenue, it was verified that the more service quality in last year became the more revenue in the year. But the dummy variable, ownership and region, rarely related to hospital revenue. Therefore it means that the more service quality is connected to the more revenue on the large number of beds hospitals. Second, as a result of analysing hypothesis 2 & 3. In the study of the relationship between the service quality and the number of patients, it was verified that the more service quality in last year became the more outpatients in the year. But there was no verified to inpatients. It seems to be the reason why a hospital has operated the fixed number of beds approved by the public office. So there are no free to expand beds according to the number of inpatients as much as inpatients are increasing. Third, as a result of analysing hypothesis 4 & 5. In the study of the relationship between the service quality and the rate of beds utility, it was verified that the more service quality in last year became the shorter of average stay of length in the year. Especially it has influenced much more on a hospital which was the large number of beds, the corporate and the college, but the region. But it was denied that the more service quality became the more the beds turnover. As a result of this study, it shows that the service quality in the last year has importantly influenced on a hospital managerial performance in the year. Estimating the service quality of each hospital, most patients have selected the hospital they want. And the hospital need to keep the number of patients for the proper management. So this result of the study means that a hospital must improve the service quality for keeping efficient management.
