An Offloading Strategy for Multi-User Energy Consumption Optimization in Multi-MEC Scene

  • Mobile edge computing (MEC) is capable of providing services to smart devices nearby through radio access networks and thus improving service experience of users. In this paper, an offloading strategy for the joint optimization of computing and communication resources in multi-user and multi-MEC overlapping scene was proposed. In addition, under the condition that wireless transmission resources and MEC computing resources were limited and task completion delay was within the maximum tolerance time, the optimization problem of minimizing energy consumption of all users was created, which was then further divided into two subproblems, i.e. offloading strategy and resource allocation. These two subproblems were then solved by the game theory and Lagrangian function to obtain the optimal task offloading strategy and resource allocation plan, and the Nash equilibrium of user offloading strategy games and convex optimization of resource allocation were proved. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm could effectively reduce the energy consumption of users.

Determinants of Users' Perceived Value on Mobile Contents Service (모바일 콘텐츠 서비스에 대한 인지된 사용자 가치 결정요인에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, mobile internet technologies are enabling the possibility of radically new computing services which can share information and communicate with others on the move. In this situation, prior studies have attempted to identify of what factors make people use mobile internet. However, prior researches focused on investigating the factors affecting users' adoption to Mobile Internet. In order to offer beneficial materials to mobile internet companies, we investigated important factors to increase mobile users' value from the viewpoints of customer. In particular, this study was progressed how characteristics of mobile contents affect users' intrinsic attributes and how perceived users' network effects affect users' value in the mobile computing environments. To empirically test proposed hypotheses, we have analyzed 285 survey data gathering from mobile internet users and verified hypotheses by using SEM (structural equation modeling). Based on the results of this study, we found that content accessibility and content quality have significant impacts on users' intrinsic attributes such as perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment. In addition, this study also revealed that perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment were positively related to users' emotional value. Moreover, this study found that perceived users' network effects could affect users' monetary value by mediating expected benefits. Based on our findings, we can understand that this perspective can provide a deeper understanding of the mobile users' value adoption by bridging the gap between mobile internet studies and actual practice.

  • This article describes a business case of ROSEWeb, a floral distribution service by internet of Newrun System Company. Newrun System is one of the floral distribution IT solution company. The purpose of this case study is to find out which factors of ROSEWeb solution of successful business model and internet distribution strategy that plays an important role as the floral distribution IT service. ROSEWeb has experienced many challenging obstacles while they prepare for this floral distribution IT service. This case study has found that Newrun System Company execute the rapidly transformation of business model to cope with changing situation. Specially, so far, ROSEWeb continuously keep on competitive advantage as floral distribution IT service through building core competence. this study shows that ROSEWeb's case broadly apply reference model to the building business model and formulating floral distribution service strategy and other internet business models. Finally, we intends to discuss about theses questions. the question is "by the existing state of entering Internet portal(Yahoo, Naver, Daum), Can ROSEWeb have sustainable competitive advantage in floral distribution service?", and "what is Newrun System's next business model?". Through the intensive interviews with people involved in the development of ROSEWeb, this article provides important implications to the business community who is preparing for new applications for mobile internet.

  • We research a competitive advantage of telecom bundling package of three mobile telecom company by figuring out utility that consumers perceived and focused on mobile telecom and high speed internet in one bundled package. As a method, conjoint analysis was applied. And in conclusion, consumers considered retaining mobile telecom company as the most important factor to them and branding as the following important one when one bundled package of telecom service is provided in total market. When the market is divided into two submarkets and the second largest submarket is analyzed personal bundled package was most important and three year agreement with a stipulated discount has the highest utility. As a result of this analysis, mobile telecom company managers need to organize bundled package after consideration of their current position and brand power in the market, and then devise proper market strategy

However, the market growth has been limited since the implementation environment is different from that of wired-internet business services. Understanding Watching Patterns of Live TV Programs on Mobile Devices: A Content Centric Perspective

  • With the rapid development of smart devices and mobile Internet, the video application plays an increasingly important role on mobile devices. Understanding user behavior patterns is critical for optimized operation of mobile live streaming systems. On the other hand, volume based billing models on cloud services make it easier for video service providers to scale their services as well as to reduce the waste from oversized service capacities. In this paper, the watching behaviors of a commercial mobile live streaming system are studied in a content-centric manner. Our analysis captures the intrinsic correlation existing between popularity and watching intensity of programs due to the synchronized watching behaviors with program schedule. The watching pattern is further used to estimate traffic volume generated by the program, which is useful on data volume capacity reservation and billing strategy selection in cloud services. The traffic range of programs is estimated based on a naive popularity prediction. In cross validation, the traffic ranges of around 94% of programs are successfully estimated. In high popularity programs (>20000 viewers), the overestimated traffic is less than 15% of real happened traffic when using upper bound to estimate program traffic.

Empirical Investigation of the Relationship between the Operational Competence of Service Providers and the Use and Adoption of Mobile Commerce

  • This study models the operational competence of mobile service providers as an endogenous factor that presumably impacts the mobile commerce (m-commerce) adoption of consumers and examines the relationship between the perceptions of consumers toward the operational performance of m-commerce providers and their m-commerce adoption likelihood. Quantitative research is applied with data collected from wireless Internet consumers in South Korea. The data is analyzed using factor analysis and structural equation modeling methods. The findings suggest that the operational competence of m-commerce providers is a significant antecedent to the m-commerce use and adoption of consumers in Korea. In this environment, the operational competence of mobile service providers in managing facilities, equipment, systems and technology plays a central role in enhancing m-commerce use and adoption. Based on the results, important managerial implications are discussed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to estimate 'willingness to pay' for mobile data service by using contingent valuation method with double bounded dichotomous choice question. The findings are as follows.: First, the willingness to pay of mobile data service is considerably lower than current retail price. Second, the perceived degree of mobile data service such as awareness and benefit recognition is positively related to the willingness to pay of mobile data service. Our results suggest that active promotion and strengthening of the content of mobile data service are needed in order to enhance the profitability of mobile operators. The analysis results will be used to set the mobile operator's pricing strategy and to build up a successful communication policies in the mobile ecosystem.

  • Mobile banking is a subset of electronic banking which underlies not only the determinants of the banking business but also the special conditions of mobile commerce. Nowadays wireless networks are being evolved and diversified. In this situation The wireless e-commerce is in the limelight on new profits of Carriers. Especially from current year when Carriers in domestic plans to provide the services using 2.5G networks the service providers choose wireless e-commerce as the main parts of wireless internet strategy and will provide a various of services. Because of this situation, the importance of mobile billing service is being emphasized. This paper searches the definition and service types of mobile banking, and suggests status and prospects of domestic mobile banking. We suggest the basic direction, the stage of development and functions of services by analyzing the cases of Nonghyup's. Finally we derive the critical factors from those and suggest the effect of introduction and the direction of development. From the customer perspective, mobile banking has many strengths. For example, it allows that all customers access banking service at anytime, anywhere more easily than telephone banking or pc banking. And it reduces the time and the effort for using the service. It enables the company to make a business against global customers. On the other hand, from the company perspective, it has a lot of potential that affect market share and reduce the costs of human and material resources which used to operate and support branches. However, it needs many efforts to reach at the stage of completion. And We will have to solve the problems that develop many contents, expend the range of services and raise the service convenience.

  • In this paper we have proposed policy-based network management system architecture for Internet QoS support Mobile IP networks that is divided into four layers(application layer, information management layer, policy control layer, device layer), then we propose an implementation strategy of policy-based network management system to enforce various control and network management operations and a model of policy server using SCOPS(Simple Common Open Policy Service) protocol that is developed in this research. For policy-based mobile IP network management system implementation, we have derived four policy classes(access control, mobile IP operation, QoS control, and network monitoring) and we showed operation procedures for each policy scenarios. Finally we have implemented Internet QoS support policy-based mobile IP network testbed and management system and verified out DiffServ policy enforcement behaviors for a target class service that is arranged a specific bandwidth on network congestion conditions.
