Four cases of pulmonary pseudallescheriasis in patients with healed pulmonary tuberculosis are described. All four patients had a long history of antituberculous chemotherapy for pulmonary tuberculosis, but continuous sputum negativity for acid fast bacilli indicated apparent recovery from tuberculosis. They, however, complained continued intermittent hemoptysis and chronic cough. Although their chest roentgenograms did not show a clearcut mycetomal shadows in preformed cavitary lung lesions, Pseudallescheria boydii or Scedosporium apiospermum was repeatedly isolated from serial sputum specimens collected at different days for a period of over half an year or two years and their serial serum specimens produced precipitin bands with home-made antigen from 8-week old culture filtrate of P. boydii. Second fungus was isolated from sputum specimens of two patients and one was Candida albicans and the other was Aspergillus fumigatus. Sera from both patients reacted with antigens of those second fungi. Unfortunately pulmonary function of three patients did not allow surgical excision of the infected area and one patient refused surgery.
Background: Latent tuberculosis (TB) infection among TB contacts is diagnosed using plain chest radiography and interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs). However, plain chest radiographs often miss active TB, and the results of IGRA could fluctuate over time. The purpose of this study was to elucidate changes in the results of the serial IGRAs and in the findings of the serial submillisievert chest computed tomography (CT) scans among the close contacts of active pulmonary TB patients. Methods: Patients age 20 or older with active pulmonary TB and their close contacts were invited to participate in this study. Two types of IGRA (QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube assay [QFT-GIT] and the T-SPOT.TB test [T-SPOT]) and submillisievert chest CT scanning were performed at baseline and at 3 and 12 months after enrollment. Results: In total, 19 close contacts participated in this study. One was diagnosed with active pulmonary TB and was excluded from further analysis. At baseline, four of 18 contacts (22.2%) showed positive results for QFT-GIT and T-SPOT; there were no discordant results. During the follow-up, transient and permanent positive or negative conversions and discordant results between the two types of IGRAs were observed in some patients. Among the 17 contacts who underwent submillisievert chest CT scanning, calcified nodules were identified in seven (41.2%), noncalcified nodules in 14 (82.4%), and bronchiectasis in four (23.5%). Some nodules disappeared over time. Conclusion: The results of the QFT-GIT and T-SPOT assays and the CT images may change during 1 year of observation of close contacts of the active TB patients.

Recently, Contactless Power Supply(CPS) system has been broadly studied as a power supply system for Flat Panel Display(FPD) material transfer equipments. In mass production line, CPS systems on material transfer equipment are applied only in the straight sections with single operating vehicle. The formal CPS system was not adequate for curved section nor multiple operating vehicles. Therefore, this paper presents CPS system that consists of straight and curved section with multiple operation vehicles. The circuit topology of CPS system consists of full bridge configured serial-parallel resonant DC/DC converter. The control method for CPS system consists of duty control method on the primary power supply system to maintain constant resonant current. And the secondary power supply systems of multiple vehicles are self controled to maintain constant output voltage. Practically, the test result of dual vehicles on straight and curved section of material transfer equipments were satisfactory, and proved it's applicability on commercial use.

A microserver is a type of a computing server, in which two or more CPU nodes are implemented on a separate computing board, and a plurality of computing boards are integrated on a main board. In building a cluster system, the microserver has advantages in several points such as energy efficiency, area occupied, and ease of management compared to the existing method of mounting legacy servers in multiple racks. In addition, since the microserver uses a fast interconnection network between CPU nodes, performance improvement for data transfers is expected. The proposed microserver can mount a total of 16 computing boards with 4 CPU nodes on the main board, and uses Serial-RapidIO (SRIO) as an interconnection network. In order to analyze the performance of the proposed microserver in terms of the interconnection network which is a core performance issue of the microserver, we compare and quantify the performance of commercial microservers. As a result of the test, it showed up to about 7 times higher bandwidth improvement when transmitting data using the interconnection network. In addition, with CloudSuite benchmark programs used in actual cloud computing, maximum 60% reduction in execution time was obtained compared to commercial microservers with similar CPU performance specification.

High-speed video transmission modes of master bridge IC are implemented, which supports MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface) DSI (Display Serial Interface) standard. MIPI DSI master bridge IC sends RGB data and various commands to display module (slave) in order to test it. The master bridge IC consists of buffers storing video data of two lines, packet generation block, and D-PHY layer that distributes packets to data lanes and transmits them to slave. In addition, it supports four bpp (bit per pixel) formats and three transmission modes including Burst and Non-Burst (Sync Events, Sync Pulses types). The designed bridge IC is verified by RTL simulations showing that it functions correctly for various operating parameters.
As a study on the mechanisms by which creativity is improved in an organization, this study tried to verify the serial multiple mediating effects of relational energy and creative process engagement in the effect of leader-member exchange(LMX) on creativity. To test the hypothesis, a survey was conducted on 200 workers in China, and 154 of them were analyzed. The analysis used model 6 of the PROCESS macro. As a result, first, LMX has positive effects on creativity. Second, relational energy mediated the relationship between LMX and creativity. Third, creative process engagement mediated the relationship between LMX and creativity. Forth, relational energy and creative process engagement continuously mediated the relationship between LMX and creativity. Based on these research results, the implications and limitations of this study were presented, and methods to improve creativity in the organization were discussed.
Objectives This study is designed to evaluated the safety of peony root extract tablet in healthy male volunteers. Methods 12 healthy male volunteers were recruited, and this study was conducted by a single center. The safety was evaluated by collecting laboratory test and vital signs of volunteers. As the registration process, 12 subjects were assigned by serial number. To evaluate safety, vital signs were checked and blood samples were collected 4 times during the screening period, pre & post-administration (after 8 hours) and post-administration (after 7 days). The difference in variables was summarized by the mean±standard deviation. The normality test was carried out using the Shapiro-Wilk test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. When normality is fulfilled, a paired t-test is applied and the significance level was p<0.05. And the incidence of all adverse effects and serious adverse effects are shown in percentage. Results In the case of vital sign, body temperature (BT) (℃) was 0.06±0.05 ℃ (p=0.008), and there was a statistically significant difference in before and after administration. However, clinical symptoms were not occurred and BT (℃) of all subjects before and after administration showed values within the normal reference value. There was no significant difference from the control group in all other vital signs and laboratory test data. And no side-effects associated to clinical trial drugs were followed. Conclusions The peony root extract tablet was considered to be safe for healthy male volunteers.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the usefulness of arterial embolization on sacral and pelvic giant cell tumor (GCT). Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 9 patients who had undergone serial arterial embolization between December 1996 and May 2008. We analyzed the clinical outcomes and therapeutic responsiveness of arterial embolization on sacral and pelvic GCT. Results: Six of 9 cases showed progression of disease (PD) status, even if 5 cases showed PD status despite of additional treatments including surgery and radiation, implying that serial arterial embolization on sacral and pelvic GCT is not effective. Three of 9 cases showed stable disease (SD) or continuous disease free (CDF) status and we analyzed associated factors with these good responses for embolization by ${\chi}^2$ test. The number of feeding vessels under six (p=0.048) and the number of collateral arterial supply under three (p=0.048) in the first angiogram showed significant relationships with good response for embolization, while remaining tumor staining by contrast after the first embolization and repeated embolization times were not significant. Conclusion: Although serial arterial embolization is not an effective modality on sacral and pelvic giant cell tumors, it may be a pilot modality under narrow indication of tumors with poor vascularity at first angiogram.

Objectives: The objective of this study is to assess cognitive functions and their relationship with sleep symptoms in young narcoleptic patients. Methods: Eighteen young narcolepsy patients and 18 normal controls (age: 17-35 years old) were recruited. All narcolepsy patients had HLA $DQB_1$ *0602 allele and cataplexy. Several important areas of cognition were assessed by a battery of neuropsychological tests consisting of 13 tests: executive functions (e.g. cognitive set shifting, inhibition, and selective attention) through Wisconsin card sorting test, Trail Making A/B, Stroop test, Ruff test, Digit Symbol, Controlled Oral Word Association and Boston Naming Test; alertness and sustained attention through paced auditory serial addition test; verbal/nonverbal short-term memory and working memory through Digit Span and Spatial Span; visuospatial memory through Rey-Osterrieth complex figure test; verbal learning and memory through California verbal learning test; and fine motor activity through grooved pegboard test. Sleep symptoms in narcolepsy patients were assessed with Epworth sleepiness scale, Ullanlinna narcolepsy scale, multiple sleep latency test, and nocturnal polysomnography. Relationship between cognitive functions and sleep symptoms in narcolepsy patients was also explored. Results: Compared with normal controls, narcolepsy patients showed poor performance in paced auditory serial addition (2.0 s and 2.4 s), digit symbol tests, and spatial span (forward)(t=3.86, p<0.01; t=-2.47, p=0.02; t=-3.95, p<0.01; t=-2.22, p=0.03, respectively). There were no significant between-group differences in other neuropsychological tests. In addition, results of neuropsychological test in narcolepsy patients were not correlated with Epworth sleepiness scale score, Ullanlinna narcolepsy scale score and sleep variables in multiple sleep latency test or nocturnal polysomnography. Conclusion: The current findings suggest that young narcolepsy patients have impaired attention. In addition, impairment of attention in narcolepsy might not be solely due to sleep symptoms such as excessive daytime sleepiness.
This study was conducted to detect the toxoplasma-specific DNA in peripheral blood collected from cats experimentally infected with Toxoplasma gondii (RH strain) and from domiciled cats by B1 gene-base polymerise chain reaction(PCR). The sensitivity of oligonucleotide primer, T-1 & T-2, designed from toxoplasma B1 gene amplification method was compared with parasite detection by mouse inoculation(MI). And also, latex agglutination test(LAT) and indirect fluorescent antibody test(IFAT) were conducted to detect the fluctuation of serum antibodies compared with the detection of toxoplasma by PCR and MI. Toxoplasma B1 gene PCR was shown consistently high sensitivity and the results obtained by PCR agreed completely with those from MI. All blood samples collected before infection with T gondii gave negative results by PCR and MI. Also, toxoplasma Bl gene PCR was not cross reaction with Neospora caninum DNA and normal cat leucocyte as controls. The toxoplasma-specific DNA was detected by PCR in blood of 5 cats experimentally infected with T gondii 6 days after infection and the detection of this specific-DNA was long lasted in blood for 64 days after infection. The detection of toxoplasma-specific DNA by PCR could be identified as few as 10 tachyzoites and the isolation of T gondii by MI could be isolated as few as 1 tachyzoite from tenfold serial dilution of T gondii with normal cat blood, respectively. In healthy domiciled cats, the toxoplasma-specific DNA and the parasite were detected and isolated in blood from 3 of 56(5.3%) cats by both PCR and MI, respectively. In the results of antibody test from the total 56 heads of healthy domiciled cats, the positive rates are 15(26.7%) by LAT and 19(33.9%) by IFAT. These results suggest that PCR detection of toxoplasma can be applied as a sensitive and specific diagnostic and research tool.
