Motion Estimation Algorithm for Frame Interpolation in Video Sequence with Luminance Variation (밝기 변화가 있는 영상에서 프레임 보간을 위한 움직임 추정 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a Motion Estimation (ME) based on Frame Difference (FD) for frame interpolation in video sequence with luminance variation. Proposed algorithm uses limited blocks whose motion is predicted by FD for ME. The Block average of current and previous frame for the blocks which has no motion variation is used as interpolated block. In experiments, the proposed algorithm shows better performance than conventional algorithms.

  • This paper presents a new method for channel impulse response measurment with a suitably designed binary sounding sequence. This method results in ideal channel estimation using three correlators instead of one. This system complexity can be easily overcome by the present technologies. The class of sounding sequences used in this method are the training sequence for channel impulse response measurment with the zero values of autocorrelation function at all shifts except zero and middle shifts in digital cellular mobile telephone system based on GSM. Computer searches are carried out to find the suitable sounding sequences.

Ground Plane Detection Using Homography Matrix (호모그래피행렬을 이용한 노면검출)

  • This paper presents a robust method for ground plane detection in vision-based applications based on a monocular sequence of images with a non-stationary camera. The proposed method, which is based on the reliable estimation of the homography between two frames taken from the sequence, aims at designing a practical system to detect road surface from traffic scenes. The homography is computed using a feature matching approach, which often gives rise to inaccurate matches or undesirable matches from out of the ground plane. Hence, the proposed homography estimation minimizes the effects from erroneous feature matching by the evaluation of the difference between the predicted and the observed matrices. The method is successfully demonstrated for the detection of road surface performed on experiments to fill an information void area taken place from geometric transformation applied to captured images by an in-vehicle camera system.

  • We present a multiuser synchronization scheme for OFDMA uplink systems. First a new preamble structure is proposed by which timing and frequency offsets estimation is developed. Based on proposed structure a new joint synchronization scheme is presented and the simulation results show that the performance of this scheme don't suffer from the number of users.

  • In this paper, we propose a new fault detection algorithm for transmission line protection using ANFIS(Adaptive Network Fuzzy Inference System). The developed system consists of two subsystems: fault type classification, and fault location estimation. We use rms value, zero sequence component and positive sequence of current, and then using learning method of neural network, premise and consequent parameters are tuned properly. To prove the performance of the proposcd system, generated data by EMTP(Electr0- Magnetic Transient Program) sin~ulationi s used. It is shown that the proposed relaying classifies fault types accurately and advances fault location estimation.

  • The large data volume of light field (LF) image has motivated much research on how to compress the data volume more efficiently. One of the approaches is to compress LF images after representing them in the form of pseudo video sequence. In this way, the pseudo temporal redundancy between views can be exploited by motion estimation and compensation. Based on our observation that images obtained by LF cameras have small range of disparity values between adjacent views, we propose to limit the motion search range to reduce the time complexity of motion estimation. Our experimental results show that a smaller motion search range reduces the encoding time while not affecting the bitrate of H.266/VVC much.

  • In this paper a platoon merging control system is considered as a remotely located system with state represented by a stochastic process. in the system it is common to encounter situations where a single decision maker controls a large number of subsystems and observation and control signals are sent over a communication channel with finite capacity and significant transmission delays. Unlike a classical estimation problem where the observation is a continuous process corrupted by additive noise there is a constraint that the observation must be coded and transmitted over a digital communication channel with fintie capacity. A recursive coder-estimator sequence is a state estimation scheme based on observations transmitted with finite communication capacity constraint. in this paper we introduce a stochastic model for the lead vehicle in a platoon of vehicles in a lane considering the angle between the road surface and a horizontal plane as a stochastic process. In order to merge two platoons the lead vehicle of the following platoon is controlled by a remote control station. Using the observation transmitted over communication channel the remote control station designs the feedback controller. The simulation results show that the intervehicle spacings and the deviations from the desired intervehicle spacing are well regulated.

  • In this paper, we propose a direct sequence ultra wideband (DS-UWB) radar system based on correlation accumulation in the fields of the ship traffic control and the safe ship operation including docking guidance systems. The proposed DS-UWB radar system averages out the noise by accumulating correlator outputs, and thus, provides a reliable distance estimation performance with a shorter estimation time compared with conventional DS-UWB radar systems. From numerical results, it is confirmed that the proposed DS-UWB radar system has not only a shorter average correlation processing time, but also a better distance estimation performance.

  • 효율적인 OFDM(Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing)의 동작을 위해 데이터의 시작 위치를 검출하는 프레임 동기 과정은 필수적인 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 OFDM 을 기반으로 한 이동 멀티미디어 통신 시스템에 적용가능한 새로운 프레임 동기 방법을 M-sequence 를 이용하여 설명하고 분석한다. 두 개의 반복되는 M-sequence 는 시간 영역에서 OFDM 의 프레임에 직접 더해지고, 수신단에서 M-sequence 의 자기상관 특성을 수행함으로 효과적인 프레임 동기를 얻을 수 있다. 이와 함께 주파수 옵셋 추정 알고리즘이 이루어 진다. 제안된 알고리즘은 비교적 단순하며 다중경로채널에서도 훌륭한 특성을 보여준다. 마지막으로 이 기술은 4G 이동 멀티미디어 통신 시스템에 적용할 수 있다.

  • In this paper, we propose ST-MWSK (space-time M-ary orthogonal Walsh sequence keying) employing MWSK which does not require channel estimation at the receiver. The computational complexity for the noncoherent ML (maximum-likelihood) detector of ST-MWSK is significantly reduced compared to that of ST-FSK (ST frequency-shift keying). Also, the performance of ST-MWSK is virtually identical to that of ST-FSK.
