  • Three di-acyl chlolide reagents, adipoyl chloride, terephthaloyl chloride and isophthaloyl chloride, were used as spacer reagents to prepare bonded type of three cellulose (3,5-dimethylphenyl)carbamate (CDMPC) chiral stationary phases (CSPs). The CDMPC CSPs were prepared using these three acid chlorides as spacer agents at the 6-position of the primary hydroxyl group on the glucose unit of cellulose regioselectively. The chiral recognition ability of the prepared CSPs for five racemates was evaluated by normal-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with the following mobile phases: hexane/isopropanol (IPA), hexane/IPA/tetrahydrofuran (THF) and hexane/IPA/chloroform. The result showed that these prepared CSPs can be used in THF and chloroform solutions and the chiral recognition abilities of the CSPs were improved depending on the eluents and chiral samples.

  • Kriging interpolation technique has been proposed by Danny Krige of South Africa to find the mineral distribution grade from information of geography and space. It is one of the generally used prediction technique for the mineral distribution grade and underground water level in wide scope also used in computer graphics fields by the ability for the surface regeneration This paper comprises two specific objectives. The first is to examine the applicability of Ordinary Kriging interpolation(OK) to finite element method that is based on variogram modeling in conjunction with different allowable limits of separation distance. The second is to investigate the accuracy according to theoretical variogram such as polynomial, Gauss, and spherical models.

  • We have fabricated and analyzed photodiodes for optical link with Si pin structures. As the results of experiment, the web patterned photodiode(type C) with $p^{+}$-guard ring showed low junction capacitance of 6~7 pF at $V_{R}$=-5V and high separation ability for optical signal(dark current : $\leq$ 5 nA, optical signal current : $\geq$ 340 nA) due to the small effective $p^{+}$-n junction area and the expanded electric field region. The fabricated Si pin photodiode can be applicable for detecting an optical signal with the wavelength of about 660~670 nm. It can also be integrated with the twin well CMOS structure to develope an one chip based optical receiver IC. IC.C.

  • Recently environment-friendly construction method is major trend in both domestic and world constrction fields. In this paper High Functional Performance Agent(Hi-FA) which has various improved engineering characteristics different with conventional Portland cement grouting, such as high viscosity, liquidity, void filling ability, early hardening, and separation resistance, was analyzed by field and laboratory test. Also soil improvement and existing deep foundation protection works were performed and analyzed using Hi-FA.

  • The development of a Marine Engine Room Simulator system for training and research is described. Development objectives of the system are for both student training, research and development work. The system includes a distributed server/client architecture for 1 to 1, or 1 to many client simulation operation through OPC server, complete separation of visual elements from the controlling routines and the ability to work on the mathematical model independent of the controller and visual systems. A graphical user interface for the man-machine interface has been developed and the mathematical model has been updated. Various engine room operational situations can be simulated. The use of marine engine room simulator for training of sea going engineers and its competency for STCW-95 is discussed.

  • Access control in dynamic environments needs the ability to provide more access opportunities of information to users, while also ensuring protection information from malicious users. Trust and risk are essential factors and can be combined together in access control decision-making to meet the above requirement. In this paper, we propose the combination of the trust and risk in access control to balance information accessibility and protection. Access control decision is made on the basis of trustworthiness of users and risk value of permissions. We use potential relations between users and relations between permissions in access control. Our approach not only provides more access opportunities for trustworthy users in accessing permissions, but also enforces traditional access control constraints such as Chinese Wall policy and Separation of Duty (SoD) of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) model in an effective way.

  • In this paper, the aerodynamic performance of two new cable surfaces with concave fillets (strakes) is examined and compared to plain, dimpled and helically filleted surfaces. To this end, an extensive wind-tunnel campaign was undertaken. Different samples with different concave fillet heights for both new surfaces were tested and compared to traditional surfaces in terms of aerodynamic forces (i.e. drag and lift reduction) and rain-rivulet suppression. Furthermore, flow visualization tests were performed to investigate the flow separation mechanism induced by the presence of the concave fillet and its relation to the aerodynamic forces. Both new cable surfaces outperformed the traditional surfaces in terms of rain-rivulet suppression thanks to the ability of the concave shape of the fillet to act as a ramp for the incoming rain-rivulet. Furthermore, both new surfaces with the lowest tested fillet height were found to have drag coefficients in the supercritical Reynolds range that compare favorably to existing cable surfaces, with an early suppression of vortex shedding.

  • The ability of chemicals, 10% sodium hypochlorite, 28% ammonium hydroxide, 5% sodium hydroxide, 5% sodium bicarbonate, 0.1% hydrochloric acid, 5% hydrogen peroxide, and 5% acetone, to destroy aflatoxins in laboratory waste water containing 3.26 ppb of B$_{1}$ 7.64 ppb of B$_{6}$3 ppb of G$_{1}$, and 11.39 ppb of G$_{2}$ with the total of 29.11 ppb was investigated. High performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC) was used for the separation and quantitation of aflatoxins. Treatment for 2 hours by the chemicals affected the destruction of aflatoxins and the most effective chemical was 10% sodium hypochlorite (p<0.05). Sodium hypochlorite concentrations more than 1% significantly reduced aflatoxin B$_{2}$, G$_{1}$, G$_{2}$ and total aflatoxins and more than 3% reduced B$_{1}$ (p<0.05). No further significant decreases were observed above the concentration of 5% for all 4 aflatoxins. Complete destruction of aflatoxins B$_{2}$, G_{1}$, and G$_{2}$ was achieved by 5% sodium hypochlorite at 48 hours and B$_{1}$ at 72 hours.

  • Demand for now nondestructive evaluation are growing to detect fatigue crack growth behavior to predict long term performance of materials and structure in aggressive environments especially when they are In non-visible area. Acoustic emission technique is well suited to these problems and has drawn a keen interests because of its dynamic detection ability, extreme sensitivity and location of growing defects. In this study, we analysed acoustic emission signals obtained in fatigue and tensile test of high strength fire resistance steel for frame structure with time-frequency analysis methods. The main frequency range is different in the noise and the fatigue crack propagation. It could be classified that it were also generated by composite fracture mechanics of cleavage, dimple, inclusion separation etc.

  • A novel ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin derivative (CCD-C) was synthesized with chitosan and carboxymethyl-${\beta}$-cyclodextrin. Its structure was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra analysis, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The adsorption properties for guanosine 5'-monophosphate, cytidine 5'-monophosphate and uridine 5'-monophosphate were studied. Experimental results demonstrated that CCD-C had higher adsorption capability for guanosine 5'-monophosphate, and that the adsorption capacity for guanosine 5'-monophosphate was 74.20mg/g. The adsorption capacity was greatly influenced by pH, time and temperature. The introduction of chitosan enhanced the adsorption ability and adsorption selectivity of ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin for guanosine 5'-monophosphate. This novel derivative of chitosan is expected to have wide applications in the separation, concentration and analysis of nucleotides in biological samples.
