  • This paper describes a dual channel receiver design for CIS interfaces. Each channel includes CTLE(Continuous Time Linear Equalizer), sampler, deserializer and clocking circuit. The clocking circuit is composed of PLL, PI and CDR. Fast lock acquisition time, short latency and better jitter tolerance are achieved by adding OSPD(Over Sampling Phase Detector) and FSM(Finite State Machine) to PI-based CDR. The CTLE removes ISI caused by channel with -6 dB attenuation and the lock acquisition time of the CDR is below 1 baud period in frequency offset under 8000ppm. The voltage margin is 368 mV and the timing margin is 0.93 UI in eye diagram using 65 nm CMOS technology.

  • In the current electronic technology atmosphere, MEMS (Microelectromechanical System) technology is regarded as one of promising device manufacturing technologies to realize market-demanding device properties. In the packaging of MEMS devices, the packaged structure must maintain hermeticity to protect the devices from a hostile atmosphere during their operations. For such MEMS device vacuum packaging, we introduce the LTCC (Low temperature Cofired Ceramic) packaging technology, in which embedded passive components such as resistors, capacitors and inductors can be realized inside the package. The technology has also the advantages of the shortened length of inner and surface traces, reduced signal delay time due to the multilayer structure and cost reduction by more simplified packaging processes owing to the realization of embedded passives which in turn enhances the electrical performance and increases the reliability of the packages. In this paper, the leakage rate of the LTCC package having several interfaces was measured and the possibility of LTCC technology application to MEMS devices vacuum packaging was investigated and it was verified that improved hermetic sealing can be achieved for various model structures having different types of interfaces (leak rate: stacked via; $4.1{\pm}1.11{\times}10^{-12}$/ Torrl/sec, LTCC/AgPd/solder/Cu-tube; $3.4{\pm}0.33{\times}10^{-12}$/ Torrl/sec). In real application of the LTCC technology, the technology can be successfully applied to the vacuum packaging of the Infrared Sensor Array and the images of light-up lamp through the sensor way in LTCC package structure was presented.

  • Recently, fire monitoring application systems have been an active research area due to the safety of industries, historical monuments and so on. The fire monitoring application systems can reduce the damage of properties by providing earlier warning for possible fire situation. However, the existing systems have a drawback that they detect fire with delay due to their uniform epoch in fire detection algorithm. Moreover, they do not provide user-friendly graphical user interfaces in their fire monitoring systems. To resolve the problems, First, we propose a new fire detection algorithm (Early Fire Detection Fire Algorithm) which uses the distribution of sensing data for early fire detection. Our fire detection algorithm is better in terms of fire detection time than the existing work because it can set a start time of fire detection epoch dynamically based on data distribution. Second, we develop a fire monitoring application system which provides users with both a user-friendly graphical user interface and a fire alarm message when fire occurs. Finally, we show from our experiment that our developed system is effectively used for early fire warning in a variety of fire situations.

  • Today, residential facilities is planned and built based on modular architecture. In the modular housing, sizes and locations of spaces like rooms, kinchin, and bathrooms can be changed from-time-to-time. Therefore, current home automation systems based on predesigned and fixed system with wired sensors can not be suitable for the modular housing. As a result, a new concept-based homw automation system is required which is able to adopt varying home environment. Since the change of spaces will change the number of and types of necessary sensors, the home automation system enables to detect automatically and naturally the added or removed different types of wireless sensors and provides home automation services. In this paper, a home automation system is studied and implemented which can adopt varying space environment by detecting automatically added or removed sensors and provide new user interfaces for displaying sensing information.

  • A third-order sigma-delta modulator with the architecture of cascade of integrator feedback (CIFB) is proposed for an analog-digital converter used in low-power sensor interfaces. It consists of three switched-capacitor integrators using a gain-enhanced current-mirror-based amplifier, a single-bit comparator, and a non-overlapped clock generator. The proposed sigma-delta analog modulator with over-sampling ratio of 160 and maximum SNR of 90.45 dB is implemented using $0.11-{\mu}m$ CMOS process with 1.2-V supply voltage. The area and power consumption of the sigma-delta analog modulator are $0.145mm^2$ and $341{\mu}W$, respectively.

  • 3D printing technology has been a great interest in human bio-interfaces and human-like robotics since they require arbitrary and adaptive manufacturing. This research mainly concerns the 3D fabrication of a packed biosensor using elastomeric sheets made of PDMS. It is essential to design the PDMS molding with 3D printing since, in the case of biosensors, it should not only produce a conformal shape depending on an arbitrary skin surface but also guarantee a uniform thickness distribution during solidification in the PDMS prepolymer solution. To satisfy the characteristics of the PDMS molding, such as flexibility in the de-molding and stiffness in the solidification processes, multi-materials have been selectively applied to the PDMS molding design, which has been validated with finite element analyses and compared with the 3D printed molding.

  • Wearable devices come in a variety of shapes and sizes in numerous fields in numerous fields and are available in various forms. They can be integrated into clothing, gloves, hats, glasses, and bags and used in healthcare, the medical field, and machine interfaces. These devices keep track individuals' biological and behavioral data to help with health communication and are often used for injury prevention. Those with hearing loss or impaired vision find it more difficult to recognize an approaching person or object; these sensing devices are particularly useful for such individuals, as they assist them with injury prevention by alerting them to the presence of people or objects in their immediate vicinity. Despite these obvious preventive benefits to developing Internet of Things based devices for the disabled, the development of these devices has been sluggish thus far. In particular, when compared with people without disabilities, people with hearing impairment have a much higher probability of averting danger when they are able to notice it in advance. However, research and development remain severely underfunded. In this study, we incorporated a wearable detection system, which uses an infrared proximity sensor, into a backpack. This system helps its users recognize when someone is approaching from behind through visual and tactile notification, even if they have difficulty hearing or seeing the objects in their surroundings. Furthermore, this backpack could help prevent accidents for all users, particularly those with visual or hearing impairments.
